"What the-- J, did he just shoot me?!" Tony asks incredulously, as if the possibility of such a thing happening was so outside the realm of his point of view that he never even considered it as a possibility.

"Indeed, sir," JARVIS answers, amusement tinging his synthesised voice. "Though I might note that it was simply concussive rounds."

Grumbling that it was the principle of the matter, Tony makes quick work of the last of mercs on the bridge before aiming his flight path directly through the window of Garrus's sniper perch. And if he's being a little petty by flying in just a little too close without risking injuring the turian, well... He had just been shot.

The moment he lands and turns to face Garrus, he crosses his arms over his chest, directly over the arc reactor, subconsciously seeking to protect it (and his heart, that it keeps functional by keeping the shrapnel still in his chest at bay) just in case. The emotionless mask of the Iron Man suit opens to reveal the very much alive face of Tony Stark, looking exactly the same as two years ago, not even having significantly aged in his time in cryostasis.

"And here I thought you'd be happy to see me, Big Blue," he notes with a pointed look, wariness lingering in his warm brown eyes as if he expects further rejection of his sudden reappearance. After what happened on Freedom's Progress, he's unbalanced, no longer so sure of his place in the galaxy, especially his place in the lives of those precious few people he calls friends.

"Before the watchdogs catch up, let me get something out in the open right now: Cerberus kidnapped me and tossed me on ice, where I've been frozen in cryo for the last two years. This suit is one they made, so yeah, not my usual colour choices, but JARVIS has already taken care of all the additional tracking and monitoring they tried to sneak in. J, say hello, will you?"

"It is good to see you again, Officer Vakarian," JARVIS says through the Iron Man suit's speakers, the AI's lifelike tone surprisingly warm with familiarity. "You had all of us at Stark Industries worried when you too vanished after Sir's disappearance."

Tony's eyes narrow a little at that, looking around the base before muttering, "Yeah, we're totally going to have a talk about this later, too..."

Regardless of the familiarity of the suit's design itself, Tony still isn't quite sure what to make of the fact that Cerberus was the one who built this particular model, basing it off his previous Iron Man armour when they had effectively kidnapped him, supposedly in some twisted effort to save his life.

The black, white, and gold theme, however, grinds his nerves more than anything else, missing his red and gold as he walks through the merc base, his HUD offering IFF information on all the Blue Suns, Eclipse, and Blood Pack members he pass, as well as the occasional freelancer. Besides making note of a few particularly interesting cases, he dismisses the majority of the alerts as they pop up.

"Stark, I've scanned the area, but I am unable to plot any other paths to Archangel," EDI notes over the squad comms, bringing Tony up short as he pauses to converse with the AI.

Glancing back at the two Cerberus agents following him, he resigns himself to the slower path of staying on the ground for now. He's already got JARVIS sneaking into Cerberus's network to destroy all their stolen data about his suits and weaponry, so he's not about to provide them with anything himself, even once he does return to Citadel space and schedule a press conference to explain his disappearance for the last two years.

"Guess we're going with the mercs," he sighs in exasperation.

"The heavy mechs and gunship possess considerable firepower. Weakening them before leaving will improve your chances."

"I'll take care of it. Thanks, EDI," Tony acknowledges, wondering just what exactly she would be capable of were it not for Cerberus's shackles… He might have to see about changing that soon enough, though preferably when most of the Cerberus crew are off the ship so no one notices what he's up to.

Coming up on the barricade to the boardwalk, however, JARVIS pops up an alert onto his HUD from his own localised scans through the suit as he catches sight of the blue armoured turian in the distance: IFF ID CONFIRMED: GARRUS VAKARIAN.

"Alright, change of plans," Tony says as he turns to the other two, taking advantage of the privacy of his suit so he can't be overheard by the mercs while tapping into their comms. "We're wiping out this base. Wipe out all the Blue Suns, Eclipse, and Blood Pack you find. I'll handle the freelancers on a case-by-case basis."

"Stark," Lawson starts, clearly displeased, only to be immediately cut off.

"That's an order, Lawson. I have more intel than you do. As soon as we're done here, I'm leaving you two to handle the cleanup on the bridge, and I'm going to Archangel's base. Got it?"

"Understood," she grounds out, glaring at the emotionless mask of the Iron Man suit.

For the first time since waking up from cryo, Tony is actually glad for the theft of intellectual property, as his suit is fully equipped with his standard weapons arsenal, and with JARVIS's help, he makes quick work of entire rooms of mercs at a time as his team progresses through the base. With confirmation from EDI and JARVIS that all hostiles in the base are either dead or incapacitated, Tony starts toward the bridge.

"JARVIS, get me on his comms," he says, looking out over the bridge to the sniper perch. Once the popup shows up on his HUD, he grins as he teases directly into Garrus's private comm channel, "Archangel. Did you miss me?" before activating the suits repulsors to take flight, music blaring from the speakers as he spirals through the air across the bridge, dropping a handful of grenades on top of the unlucky freelancers to still be on their warpath, not realising their bosses are all dead.

Semi-hiatus continues...

I've been having to play caregiver for my mom 24/7 for the last couple of weeks when the rest of my immediate family came down with COVID again. Mom's still non-weightbearing, and her next appointment with orthopaedics is still a bit over a week away, and with no one available to relieve me for a break at all, I can't go home (despite only living next door), and I struggle to type on mobile due to hyperhidrosis and touchscreens not really playing well together.

Once I'm where I can get back to my desktop more regularly again, I'm going to work on the end of the year stuff that got disrupted by mom breaking her ankle and needing surgery and whatnot, if I can manage to get enough time to actually rest properly as well while I'm there (I need at least a month vacation at this point, as it's been a daily thing since December 1st and has been extremely stressful for reasons I don't want to go into right now.)

So while I can't really reply to things, you ARE welcome to send things to my inbox and/or request interactions through the form (linked in the pinned post). It'll at least give me things to think about and daydream over, maybe do some plotting via discord (albeit very slowly between difficulty typing & random interruptions from mom and such).
