today is … my 27th ( hamilton vc: and i didn’t think i’d live to see past 20 ) .  but no seriously , i’m feeling some type of way abt it , ig.

i suppose … it’s just hard for me to sit here and attempt to conceptualize the me NOW compared to the me BACK THEN .  i’ve done so much work in terms of my recovery ; i’ve made several huge strides within the period of this year alone and it’s– you know– a lot to take in.  the people in my life are saying things like , “you look like yourself again” / “i’m so proud of what you’re doing” and i know i should feel positive abt it but it’s just overwhelming when put into perspective.  i dunno , i’m the kinda person who considers where i’ve come from – the damage i’ve caused when i was at my worst – and looks at where i am now , the possibilities that’ve opened up to me because of my progress , and i’m just sat here like , “jesus christ —”  ksdcndk ; it’s just a lot !!  i’m not sure if it’ll make much sense to anyone who reads this but.  yeah.

this response is coming a little late ( i apologize , it’s the end of the term so things are uh – majorly chaotic for me atm ! ) , but !!  genuinely , thank you so much for taking the time to send this message , it’s really appreciated and truthfully , i think it helps to be reminded of these things ; that – you know – you’ve got value in the eyes of your mutuals , even if you don’t talk much or don’t write together all that often.  it’s the little things.  i’ll be the first to admit i have an evil brain that tells me otherwise.  i am so glad you enjoy the content i put out , though ; writing is my first love , and i am incredibly passionate about it ( ask anyone i talk to outside of here , i can talk for miles about writing & muses – both a blessing & a curse , really ) .  that aside , UNO REVERSE !!  i know i’ve already said this , but even though we don’t interact much , i love peeking in on your posts to see what vasco is up to or what ideas you have about him ; you breathe such life into him , and although i know nothing about him , i feel like i can get to know him vicariously through the love you pour into him.  but please , let me throw out the offer that if you ever wanna chat about plots or throw around ideas or even just shoot the shit , please don’t hesitate to reach out !!

Fact of the matter is the lack of their existence had been felt and if he were to be honest he did indeed miss them but it wouldn’t be something he’d care to admit anytime soon, not going to give them that kind of satisfaction just yet..oh no. They’d have to be in his life just a LITTLE bit longer if he would go handing ‘wins’ out like that.

Though he did express how glad he is that they found his choices interesting. Granted maybe they chose wisely to not hit the karaoke bar with him, sometimes things could get…immersive for him whenever he’s singing a ballad or two.  Though a movie and then a few drinks, definitely the way to end a day of serving hot food so with a smile he nodded his head. “H’alright step into the truck and I’ll take us there.” Parking’s gonna be a bitch but hey it’s nothing he couldn’t handle. “I’d take goin’ half n half, I can be a pretty expensive date.”

          Kaen feigns hurt at his lack of response , pressing a hand to their breast and mocking an offended ‘ oh ! ’ .  Nothing new , really , the two of them busted each other’s balls all the time , this shouldn’t prove to be any different.  Yusuke was their FRIEND ( one they held in high regard , mind you ) , they didn't expect him to hand out his heart to them any time soon.  But there were times – fleeting moments , perhaps – where the lines seemed a bit … BLURRED .  Truth be told , the godling was too nervous to stop and ask what that possibly m e a n t .

          They laugh , lightly nudging by his shoulder to get ‘round him to the passenger’s side of the truck.  “A’right , sounds like we got ourselves a plan.”  They pull open the door , turning to look back at him , pushing up the brim of their cap with a cheeky little smile.  “Ah promise not ta’ keep ye out too late , either.”  Settling into the seat , Kaen tosses him a curious look.  Was … He being SERIOUS ?  Or sarcastic ?  Sometimes they couldn’t quite tell.  “Expensive ?”  They reply , red brows lifting.  “Geez , remind me ne’er ta’ treat ye , then.  Ye’d pro’ly bleed me dry !  But fer ye , Ah GUESS Ah could make an exception , aye ?”

Moments of silence, while not always the best, occasionally had their rewards. This time the reward was another chance to get a look at his companion. To anyone passing by it almost looked like a stare down that neither was letting up. But when they finally scoffed and rolled their eyes, Teddie only continued to smile. A classic reaction to his little attempts at flirting. A short laughter came out to harmonize with Kaen’s own. If this is how the rest of the day’s going to go, the bear was golden. 

He fixated on Kaen’s fuzzy ears again. Watching them flicker even lightly captivated the bear with its cuteness. Hopefully others found his own bear ears’ little movements adorable as well. The fingers of his available hand graced his blonde hair. If only he had his own pair of fluffy ears to pet. 

“This place is delicious! I never get tired of eating there. They have lots of different specials that change all the time.” He was making himself hungry just thinking about it. In fact, his stomach was already rumbling. 

“Are you hungry, too, Kaen? I know I always feel hungry after work.”

          Despite some reservations they may have had earlier , Teddie was making it easy enough to f o r g e t them ( perhaps to forgive them , to set them free back into the void of their endless fear ) .  It helps , Kaen knows , that they seem to get along QUITE WELL ; seemed to have become FAST-FRIENDS .  Setting aside his flirtatious habits , this seemed as though it would be a good evening ( a much-needed one , if the faun was honest ) !

          Oh … Was he STARING at something ?  He seems so transfixed , even as they were speaking.  But what could it be ?  Their ears perk to attention , they notice his eyes follow the movement with clear i n t e r e s t ( oh no ! curiosity is one step away from asking to pet them , isn’t it ? … come to think of it , they’ve never actually been pet before— ) .

           Kaen’s smile b r i g h t e n s when Teddie speaks , stony features charmed with the unmistakable glow of kindred g l e e .  “Y’re singin’ some real HIGH PRAISES there , Teddie,” The faun hums , swinging their joined hands a bit , “But , Ah gotta’ be honest , Ah’m an easy date , Ah’m pretty easy ta’ please.”  Indeed , Kaen did not need very much to be found happy or appeased ; it was the simple pleasures that mattered most to them and— “Y’know , Ah’m jus’ - jus’ ‘appy ta’ be spendin’ th’ evenin’ wit’ ye , honestly.”  A somewhat nervously fumbled admittance , but one no less SINCERE .  Kaen offers him an eager nod , “Aye , Ah am hungry !  Ah’ve barely eaten anythin’ all day !”  Oh , perhaps they shouldn’t’ve mentioned that last part , it might raise some concern.  “Uh … Dun’ worry ‘bout m’share o’ th’ bill , by th’ way , Ah can pay fer it.”
