write for yourself. put your fantasies on paper. no one knows what you are writing. no one knows what's in your head. no one is going to write it for you. if you don't write down your ideas they will disappear. if you are too scared to write your thoughts then don't write, try something different. if writing is the only way, get to writing. no one else's opinion matters. no one else's opinion will ever matter

Shoutout to incredibly contrived set-ups for kink stories, I respect the grind so much. One time I was frolicking in a field of flowers and I found a fic whose summary started w 'IN A WORLD WHERE THE LOSING ATTORNEY HAS TO SUCK OFF THEIR OPPOSITION' and it's been stuck on my mind ever since

“You know, that might be the answer – to act boastfully about something they say we should be ashamed of. That’s a trick that never seems to fail” -catch 22
and is your shame helpful? is it inspiring goodness and change? or is it keeping you frozen in time unable to move on and be everything you have expanded to be?

Kurt Vonnegut's 8 rules for writing: ⁣
1. Use the time of a total stranger in such a way that he or she will not feel the time was wasted.⁣ ⁣ 2. Give the reader at least one character he or she can root for.⁣ ⁣
3. Every character should want something, even if it is only a glass of water.⁣ ⁣
4. Every sentence must do one of two things—reveal character or advance the action.⁣ ⁣
5. Start as close to the end as possible.⁣ ⁣
6. Be a sadist. No matter how sweet and innocent your leading characters, make awful things happen to them-in order that the reader may see what they are made of.⁣ ⁣
7. Write to please just one person. If you open a window and make love to the world, so to speak, your story will get pneumonia.⁣ ⁣
8. Give your readers as much information as possible as soon as possible. To hell with suspense. Readers should have such complete understanding of what is going on, where and why, that they could finish the story themselves, should cockroaches eat the last few pages.⁣

i love that i have seen SO many positive comments about next season though. like, yeah, hc's rancid stans and the toxer gamerbro incels are being horrible but that was always going to happen anyway. but meanwhile the average fan and viewer that had their doubts about the recasting looked at that table read and saw how much chemistry that liam has with anya and joey already and how happy the cast is and went yeah, okay, i am here for this.
