If everything about the Fate’s sexual identities is clear (Chance is pansexual, Nam is ace), their romantic orientations can be confusing, and I decided to elaborate. Yes, despite the fact that Chance can’t walk past anyone pretty (outside and inside because he sees people through), he still is demiromantic. Him being in awe of someone absolutely doesn’t mean that he’s in love with them. Well, he IS in love with them, the same way he’s in love with cool cars or doggies, or falling leaves or snowflakes. It takes a much harder blow for him to actually fall in love, it has to be that proverbial spark, and yes, it can happen fast, but usually, it takes time. Nam is panromantic, they can fall in love with any gender, and it happens quickly, and most of the time it’s nonreciprocal. So, with time they just learned to show no signs whatsoever and watch the object of their sentiments from aside or just walk away as soon as they realize that they’re in love. That’s why it can look like they don’t feel anything towards anyone when in fact their feelings are tucked deeply from the others’ eyes, and anger and sarcasm are the sublimation.

Fate updates

I rewrote the Fate siblings page. Now the FC of both is Jeff Ward, but for Chance it will be mostly Deke Shaw from Agents of SHIELD, George from Hacks and Roy Hardaway from Brand New Cherry Flavor. For Nam (pronounces [nu:m], and yep, I renamed them) it will be his roles in Manson’s Lost Girls and The Girlfriend Game.

Things you need to know about Nam in addition to the general HC. While Chance deals with his depression by being a reckless adrenaline junkie that talks too much, they have anger issues, and unlike him, they usually don’t run from the danger, they jump right into the fight. And this also gets them killed quite often, but not so often as Chance because they are a pretty good fighter for their height and complexion (and they use whatever they can grab as a weapon without hesitation). They are not so talkative and instead of reasoning with bullies, they prefer to hit. They are overprotective, especially when it concerns their brother. They’re angry most of the time unless they feel safe and comfortable which is an extreme rarity.

Nam is autochorissexual and hypersexual and panromantic, and this mixture also doesn’t make their life easy. Being called pervert by someone they thought they liked hasn’t been the worse scenario that ever happened to them. There were a couple of times when people misread their appearance and their mannerisms, and those people were bigger and stronger than them. This made them even more angry and even more sex-repulsive. However, they are very sensual, and if they are romantically or platonically attracted to you, expect a lot of non-sexual touching, hugs, and cuddles. If they trust you enough, they can participate in sexual activities (minus the main part), but only if they feel completely safe with you.

They wear a lot of rings and bracelets, they often paint their nails, and always wear eyeliner, but their clothes are mostly on the casual male side, loose and comfy cargo or hippie-style with sneakers or boots. They can wear more feminine and bright clothes and shoes, more make-up, but again, only if they feel absolutely safe around someone.

Give Nam a present. Give them bright clothes, give them bracelets, give them anything that shows that you acknowledge them as them, and you will see how their whole gloomy personality will change. You will see the same face of a child Chance has when he is happy, the same bright blue and green eyes wide with surprise, the same gesture when they cover their mouth with their palms and look at you like a puppy, 'Is it really for me?' Give them a present, and they will be yours forever.

Nam’s style of clothes is basically boho/hippie/Woodstock plus a touch of cargo, Converse, and boots (military, Dr. Martens and such). Plus an extreme number of various bracelets on each arm from metal to beads, to leather, to folded bandanas. Plus occasionally painted nails and constant eyeliner. Although they don’t wear a lot of necklaces, if there is something around their neck, it’s something single.

Also to justify the usage of JW’s role from The Girlfriend Game as their FC from time to time I decided that they have some case of nyctalopia when their sight gets worse in the twilight, so they wear glasses or lenses (depending on the mood) when it gets darker.

Chance has depression. It explains why everything about him is so hyper, his almost always sunny mood, his desire to make everyone around him lucky and happy, his craving for constant risk and speed, his refusal to avoid the danger. It definitely explains why he dies so much more often than Kismet, gets himself killed when it could be averted, and why he can't walk past the person crying but pretends to ignore the difficulties of life. He is too sensitive. That's why he builds emotional bonds so easily, because he can and because he needs it. He needs to fall in love with everything and everyone he meets for longer than one conversation because he needs this level of happiness to be maintained inside him.

It's hard to say if it's congenital or acquired, he lives for too long now to be sure. I can say that there were two major historical events the siblings weren't able to escape - WWI and WWII, they were around, using their powers to help where they could. And those were periods when if Chance went to 'rest' or died, he could stay dormant for much longer than in peaceful times. He could not be awake for many weeks and even months.

Kismet is definitely stronger and more realistic than him. They are a provider and a protector. They're less emotional, they carry more anger, and one of the causes of this is that their brother has to feel so much. They can seem thick-skinned because Chance has no membrane between him and the sorrows of the world. That's why they keep loving him no matter how many troubles he causes for both of them and how often they have to get them out of shit.

A little change in headcanon for Fate

If someone hurts Kismet in any way they get their amount of bad luck. If someone is kind to them, bad thing that would’ve happened to them otherwise will pass them by. If someone is kind to Chance they get a gift of luck, but if they hurt him, good fortune that is about to come their way will fly by. I will add this to their page later.

CHANCE & KISMET :

1. Chance kissing Ronan for the first time. He’s feeling alive. He’s feeling actually seen for the first time in a long time, because it’s not just a romantic affair. Ronan knows who he is, maybe not everything for now, but he knows that Chance is more than just a human guy, and it means a lot for the trickster. After the man kissed him he could think only about not letting it end so quickly, he wanted to keep feeling the other and keep feeling himself feeling the other. Kismet seeing Ronan being shot by the junkie. They’re startled, they’re angry at the man for covering them by his body, but these emotions are going to fade away quickly. They are determined to help and are ready to do anything that’s needed. They want the attacker to pay but they also know that the punishment is already on the way, bad luck is already coming the poor bastard’s way and is going to be equal to his crime.

4. After the siblings ran away from home their only friends were themselves because they rarely stayed anywhere for too long. There were moments when one of them was mad at the other, for example for getting himself/themselves killed or for ending up in the police custody, but they can’t get rid of each other and in their own way they love each other, so they always forgive.

10. Chance is mostly submissive. He’s very good at teaching others things he knows and at giving advice, but he’s not a fighter (he hates it), he’s easily frightened, and doesn’t like complications in general. So, if he finds a leader or some kind of a parent figure he’s happy to follow and let them make all the important decisions. Kismet is mostly dominant. They’re more independent than Chance and they can stand for themselves. That’s why all of the most important decisions are taken by them. Both siblings are good at surviving but Kismet makes sure that they never are too deep in trouble.

13. Both siblings are scared of disappearing if one day the world won’t need them anymore. That’s why they cling to their funs and always run as though someone is always chasing them. They need to have fun and they need to do their ‘job’ - to bring good luck and bad luck to people. The more people they meet, the more they mess with people’s fates, the more visible is their trace. They can’t die but the fear of just vanishing like many other forgotten gods is very strong in them.
