Gabriel Peñalba Signs For Las Palmas

UD Las Palmas have just completed the signing of 33-year-old Argentine midfielder Gabriel PENALBA from Mexican side Cruz Azul. He was unveiled by the club’s sporting director, Toni CRUZ.

Jémez se examina en la Catedral

La última derrota del Athletic, la pasada jornada en campo del Girona, puso en evidencia la fragilidad de algunos números: el 2-0 de Montilivi convirtió una racha de nueve partidos sin perder en otra de cuatro partidos sin ganar. Con todo, lo más preocupante para el equipo desde que comenzó la temporada es su indefinición futbolística. Este viernes visita San Mamés Las Palmas, y el encuentro servirá para examinar a un entrenador que, precisamente, se caracteriza por tener las ideas muy claras. A veces le sale bien, como cuando llevó al Rayo Vallecano a puestos europeos, y otras no tanto, como cuando descendió con los madrileños o en su breve trayecto al frente del Granada. De momento, Paco suma dos victorias y tres derrotas en sus cinco partidos de Liga con el equipo canario, que sigue en puestos de descenso.

‘Cuco’ Ziganda sigue contando con las bajas de Balenziaga y Muniain, aunque el mediapunta ha vuelto a los campos de entrenamiento esta semana. Quien sí volverá a estar a disposición del técnico es Óscar de Marcos, que ha superado su segunda lesión del curso.

Kepa Arrizabalaga puede volver a la portería. El meta, que renovó su contrato en enero pese al interés del Real Madrid, ya volvió a la convocatoria ante el Girona y, dado que la próxima semana regresa la Europa League (competición que viene jugando Iago Herrerín), la visita de Las Palmas parece un buen momento para devolverle a la titularidad.

Está por ver también si Ziganda repite el esquema de Montilivi, con tres centrales, o si vuelve a los dos. “Es un sistema que me gusta y tenemos jugadores para jugar así. Si puedo repetiré”, ha dicho en vísperas del duelo.
