If you look closely, you can see the shape of skulls in her eyes, a touch which is often not seen in my screens.. unless you zoom in and really look.

For a character who sees constant loss and experiences the final moments of another's life.. I wonder how grief and personal loss will affect her. What if death felt profound loss, something that is raw and could not be numbed.

Kikyo does not allow emotions to interfere with her duties, thus there is a sense of detachment and stoicism involved when she is present. The hounds who accompany her are heavily influenced by her emotions since she has shared essentially a part of her essence with them.

They are not creatures made up of good intents or purposes - they only assist her because they respect her. Thus most of their involvement generally circles around protecting others because they follow her example, she guides them in this direction. But it can also backfire the moment she does not rein in such intense feelings and they lap up the negativity that radiates from her.

The idea of Kikyo breaking from her benevolence and succumbing to her own pain and torment from loss is something that could potentially happen. And something her father tried to avoid for several, obvious reasons.
