      For the longest time, he thought the map was wrong. Then it turned out that he had been holding it upside down. In any case, it became obvious that he was in the right place, definitely at the wrong time. A few centuries overdue, if he had to guess. Was that ash covering the ground or was it finely ground human bones? Whatever it was, it was sticking to his boots and he was inhaling it. It couldn’t have been healthy, but he was too exhausted to care anymore. Honestly, he could have collapsed in a heap where he stood if he wasn’t so stubborn to reach what he thought to be an underground lair full of treasure.

      “Well, boys,” he said, though he was only talking to himself. “Nowhere to go from here but forwards...”

      Maybe he wasn’t as alone as he thought. Although the place looked deserted, out of the corner of his eye, he could see tall silhouettes pacing behind the large trees that surrounded the area. He, of course, refused to acknowledge them for his own sanity. With a hand on his pocket-sized grimoire and the other on the hilt of his dagger, he ventured inside the entrance to the cave.
