what do we say about roomie!ellie hc’s/drabble guys… like where both of u have feelings for each other but ur also both so stubborn about confessing that it becomes a huge fucking mess. u start growing distant and cold, u don’t stop arguing, yelling, complaining. it’s so bad that u start making each other mad on purpose, first by leaving messes everywhere, to doing shit that pisses u both off the most. ellie bringing a girl home and fucking her LOUD in her room, making sure u hear every single curse word and moan that comes out of her mouth. making the girl scream and whimper her name out although she knows ur fully awake in the nearby room. she thinks she’s just simply “annoying” u but doesn’t understand ur not just annoyed. ur furious, ur heart aches from jealousy. happy slutty ending obviously. thoughts? in her base (feh) form, ishtar is seen adorned in heavy jewelry: big earrings, choker, necklace, several bracelets, an anklet, and even a little gold chain on her thigh. her clothes are fancy too, all gilded and lined in gold. she wears purple, a color associate with royalty, the rich, and opulent. her hair is done up in an elaborate ponytail with a bejeweled hair tie. her cape and pauldrons cut an impressive silhouette, hiding the girl underneath. it’s all parts of a costume, put on to play her role as the goddess of thunder, fair princess of friege, fiancee of the prince, the rising empress of grannvale. it is also for herself, to protect from the leering eyes of court. it's similar to the euphoria’s maddie wears rhinestones around her eyes; it is both a form of aesthetic expression and a way to symbolize a sort of wall between their true self and the front they put on in front of other people. ishtar is a very reserved person, both by her choice and the choices of others. she wants to preserve herself; everything she has belongs to those around her. just the act of being herself, her true feelings and her fears, are the only things she has and she will not let anyone see them so they can take it away from her, too. she makes sure no one knows her; yes, of course, her attendents and those at court know of ishtar sofi friege - but no one knows her. no one except her family, maybe. and julius. she lets julius know her, because she loves him - and she thinks she knows him, too. or, well, so she thinks.

but all the jewelry and gowns do not only act as her shield from others behind which she hides her vulnerability, it also acts as her cage. she is bound to julius, represented both by the abudnace of gifts he showers on her (see: ruby necklace he gives her in fe5 = collar) and their promise to be wed - they are bound to marry.

all of it it highlights, glaringly, how ishtar’s actions are not hers. this is not to say she has no autonomy, but is it clear ishtar did what she did because of her environment and how she was conditioned growing up. ishtar knows what she is doing is wrong, but it is hard to cut a rope of gold. and why would she want to? her vision is gilded with her impression of love. everyone’s always like ishtar should just leave julius but she can't because she's become so reliant on him whether she knows it or not - he is literally all she knows of 'love' and, goddammit, if he says he loves her then he must because she literally doesnt know anything else about it!

i also don't think ishtar knows how to dress herself. if you asked her to put an outfit together to go out she'd burst into tears because the way she dressed & presented herself has been controlled by hilda (derogatory) all her life to the point that ishtar is scared of deviating from it even if she doesn't enjoy it much. it was ingrained in her mind from a very young age to be and act and dress a certain way and to do anything else would mean others would shun her and besides vulnerability, i think the idea of being alone is one of her worst fears.
