N e ways… I never see anyone says this buttt I think Hazel and her mum deff have a kinda close (but kinda fractured currently) friendship, where Hazel’s mum knows she’s into girls. And when reader comes around for the first time (even if platonically) Ms Callahan is all like “So,,, your Hazels ‘friend’?? *wink wink*” when she finds you in the kitchen alone.

Also, Hazel would def be so embarrassed at her Mums behavior until reader is laughing and saying how sweet it is… just thoughts. Erg I’m in love with losers…

wait i love this. her mom lowkey thinks that hazel can’t pull (ms callahan has good intentions i swear) so when hazel brings a girl home for a ‘study session’ for the first time, her mom is automatically in her business. popping into her room every now and then, asking if you guys were hungry or thirsty, etc.

the both of you head downstairs to take a break from studying and grab a snack. you and hazel were simply chatting in the kitchen, her laughing about a tiktok she saw and she goes back up to her room to grab her phone and show you the video.

and ms callahan, conveniently, enters the kitchen the moment hazel is out of sight. (she’s been waiting to get you alone, that woman is nosy as hell).

“oh hi sweetheart, i didn’t see you there,” ms. callahan entered the kitchen, exclaiming in a very obvious faux surprise, “where’d hazel go?”

“she went up to her room to grab her phone, ms. callahan!” you addressed her with a sweet tone. she already liked you.

“hm speaking of her room, what were you guys doing up there?…” she was not being slick at all, “you know, she doesn’t usually have people over besides those girls from her fight club so i’m curious.” she looked up at you through her eyelashes.

“oh ms. callahan, we were just studying for a calc-”

“you can tell me the truth, honey, i’d be glad actually if hazel finally got herself a girlfriend-”

“MOM!” your rather funny conversation with hazel’s mom came to a sudden halt.

“hey hazel, how was the studying going?” her mom spoke as if she wasn’t just interrogating you about your relationship with her daughter.

“we’re going back up to my room to continue studying.” hazel made an emphasis on the last word and grabbed your hand, practically dragging you out of the kitchen and up the stairs.

“nice talking to you, ms. callahan!” you waved bye to her, wanting to be as polite as possible.

“you too, sweetheart, and if you guys do decide to do something other than studying, use protection!” ms. callahan yelled from kitchen.

“ugh mom that’s not even how that works and we are studying!” hazel groaned, pulling you into her room while you used your free hand to cover the bottom of your face, trying to hide your giggles.
