Paige Spears, HM 1: Tumblr and Bio

Hello! My name is Paige Spears, and I make a variety of different 2d artworks, such as pixel art, digital art, traditional art with marker and ink, and acrylic paintings

I am from the United States, and I grew up in the state of Maine. It’s a pretty state filled with various wildlife and pine trees.

I like to make varying kinds of artwork, but overall, I specialize in character creation and design. I frequently work alongside other people to help them create what they want made, and that usually entails drawing their own characters. One of my favorite parts of the artistic process is collaborating with my clients, and helping them make an image from their own vision, while also putting my own creative spirit into the work. One of the ways I challenge myself is when I'm tasked to create a piece with a character and a background, I try to incorporate environmental storytelling into the work. I put in details that help show who the character(s) is.

For the longest time, Camilla D’errico has been one of my inspirations when it comes to illustration. She is mainly an acrylic painter who paints various animals and people in whimsical and colorful ways, and that whimsy has inspired me and my art pieces. She makes various merchandise with her art pieces on it as well, and the way she translates her artwork into merchandise is, in my opinion, very well done. For example, she made a series of monochromatic paintings into a rainbow umbrella.
