Shane hadn't expected an audience, but that didn't change the fact that he knew he had one. She may have been inside looking through the window but he could feel her eyes on him. So he thought he might as well give her a little show. He took off his shirt and picked the axe back up. He set the chopped wood on the tree trunk and swung the axe down and split the wood. He wiped his arm across his brow, smirking knowing that she had grown a bit uncomfortable just watching. It wouldn't be long before she joined him outside.
And just as he predicted, there she was beside him. He had barely heard her footsteps, but he'd sensed her getting closer. "Come to help?" he teased, turning his head slightly. He didn't want her to take it as a challenge because he knew she was more than capable. He used these chores to keep in shape.
Kyleigh cleared her throat. "Think you got it handled." She moved to lean againt the small shed that they used to hold the wood so that it wouldn't get wet when it rained. "I'm enjoying myself just watching." Her eyes danced as his lifted to meet hers. She loved teasing him, and she knew by now that he had a hard time figuring out if she was teasing or being serious. "You take that shirt off for my benefit or because you were hot?" She didn't give him a chance to respond as she quickly added, "You were more handsome with it on. Just sayin'."
He had been about to bring the axe down once again but her words caused him to lose his concentration. For a moment, he was speechless. He lowered the axe, leaning on the handle as his eyes flicked to where he'd discarded the shirt and then back to her. "So you're sayin' I'm not handsome now?" He clicked his tongue as a smirk pulled at his lips. "I think you're likin' what you're seein' because you didn't come out and join me till I took it off."

'Small things' (for Shane)
Send ’small things’ for three memories my character has with yours that they hold dear, of moments that seemed insignificant at first, but became magical later. - @lunarruled
That first night when they shared a first meal. He thought it was just going to be a passing moment with a stranger, but he's so grateful for that moment now.
Shane might make a big deal out of something being annoying or something not being worth taking with them because it's a hassle, but he often finds a way even if he has to sacrifice something in his own pack to make sure she has it. He doesn't want her to know that he's a softy when it comes to her but he is.
Shane found an abundance of batteries. Some were good and others were corroded, but he also found a CD player Walkman and a whole CD case of CDs and gave them to her as a gift. And when she runs out of batteries, he finds her more when he can.

Shane couldn't stop the smirk that tugged at his lips when Andrea joined him in the tent. He couldn't see anything bothering them tonight so there was no need to have someone on watch. The embers from the fire would be long gone out before they woke up. And the cans they'd rigged up around the perimeter were enough to wake them up if something or someone got too close. "Cold?"
Andrea rolled her eyes at him and swatted at his leg before tugging on another sweater and slipping into their combined sleeping bags. She then curled into his side as she tried to regulate her body heat. She lifted her head slightly and leaned in to kiss him softly on the lips.
His hand moved into her hair, tugging at it gently as the kiss continued for several minutes, but it remained soft and languid. While they both liked to fuck, they also enjoyed the tender moments as well. Her lips moved down his jawline until she found his ear.
"Maybe we can keep things slow tonight?" She sucked at his earlobe before blowing gently in his ear.
As a way to answer her question, he gently rolled her so that he loomed over her. "Slow and steady wins the race, yeah?"

Once Shane and Kyleigh come to an agreement that he will accompany her on her trip further north, he lets her call the shots when they approach others. Unless his cop instinct tells him they are bad news. Then all he has to do is say something isn't right, and she trusts him. That only happens a couple of times. It works out great for them.

5. Time of year
Summer. The man lives for summer. And the beach. He was a certified lifeguard when he was old enough. He loves showing off his orange swimming trunks and his muscles. That started when he was a teenager, and it continued long into his adult years. The man loves to swim and be at the beach, drink beer, and have a bonfire on the beach with friends and family. He spent as much time there as he could when he wasn't on duty as a King County Sheriff's Deputy.
