sorry to everyone who followed me for the destiny 1 vs d2 art/design style analysis for. not doing that in ages.

I promise once I get the new pc built I will try to resume it

(In my. meagre. defence. I am bad at uni and also my pc's cpu situation is so bad that it immediately jumps to 87-100C and thermal throttles and pisses itself whenever I do anything remotely intense with it. (games, rendering 3d stuff, etc). tried to continue the lightfall campaign, got to a cutscene, and was immediately hit with the most deep fried audio I've ever had. also it now averages 40fps where it used to average 90-120 and constantly has macrostutters and freezes of up to 2-5 seconds)

#like yeah sure in theory I could just repaste the cpu #but again the cooling solution is so bad just. on its own (2 heatpipes #a laptop fan #and a single finstack at the back of the tower) #that I'm not sure how much it'd help at this point. also 2133MHz laptop ram #plus the case panels feel like they're gonna snap anytime I try to take them off #I did at least get a new ps4 controller for the d1 stuff #so now I don't have to actively fight my controller when I want to turn around or look in a specific direction #or shove my finger through the hole where the right bumper used to be to play games

Sure, here's the parts list I used for my current PC, which I've been using for about a year now.

Note that I was not a computer engineer at the time, I just built my PC by doing some online research and making some educated guesses based on what I knew at the time. It was all a bit approximate, so keep that in mind. I was also really bad at some things, like assembling my PC, installing Windows, etc.

This is the last build I did, but I didn't really mess around with that one, and I'm not going to be changing it now either. It was basically the same as my other PC, with some changes to the processor and graphics card to accommodate the new motherboard design. This motherboard doesn't have the same kind of dedicated cooling setup the others do, but I didn't really like having it open, so I think this is how I want to continue with these systems.

I'm not exactly sure how many of these were actually "used" – like I said, I wasn't really using my old PC for anything, so it was kind of like "ok I guess that'll be the new PC" – but I think these are all the actual parts?

Also if I had known how much space I'd need for the new PC sooner, I would have ordered the SSD's and HDDs in larger sizes. I had planned to get a 1TB SSD for the OS and OS updates + large files (music, etc.), and I went with a 1TB SSD for everything else (including games), since I was worried I might not be able to fit everything on my current drive. I'm not sure if there are performance differences between 1TB vs 2TB drives, and I'm not sure if that will really be an issue for me for now given the relatively small size of my OS and data files.

RAM (8GB to 16GB DDR4 2400MHz (though it's running at 2133MHz on the system. hopefully there's no issues, the stock RAM was 2400MHz) and HDD (1TB 5400rpm HDD to 1TB SSD. the stock HDD was running at 100MB/s or something stupid lol) upgrade completed.

I've never played around with flexible flat cable before, some of the connectors are a little fiddly. I bought a mini screw driver set with some plastic tools and I wouldn't have been able to do this without it.

That flat ribbon cable to the HDD did NOT look that small in the videos lol. It was really difficult to disconnect the hard drive bay adapter connector whatever it's called, so I had to undo the frc connector to be able to have room.

Anyways, I don't magically have more screws after resembling than when I started so that's good. Now I just have to read a little more arch stuff and make a boot medium. It's looking like it might be easier than I thought and I get to have the cool neofetch arch logo.

I had it in my lap when I did this... possibly not the most ideal situation. But y'know how it is, the erotism of the machine, etc, etc. Android gf, etc, etc.

#i haven't booted it yet to see if everything is working that's tomorrow's problem

I don't know the modern ram has so many error. But you still can run Windows. PC can boot liked it has no problem. But it wouldn't blue screen and shut down your PC or don't let your PC boot.

After you restart. You can play game for hours without problem again.

I discover the problem is the browser stop too often only. And the AI can't run seems something stop it loads. KKS HF patch can't installed.

Then Memtest. WOW.

20 ram has many errors. And after I update my BIOS. It become around 10000 errors even when it boot in 2133 mHz. So I guess this ram is no hope already. I need to ask warranty tomorrow. This maybe 2 more days wasted.

It supposed to be checking 3600mHz memtest now. But it would waste whole day as once check need 5-6 hours. So I stopped it. I do that check when I sleep.

19 sub because. 19 can run smooth and has 0 error in 2133mHz. But when switch to 3600mHz. It usually make PC can't boot. It looks liked 15 16 hasn't this problem. Everytime 3600mHz can't boot > plug out 19 then it runs. That looks liked 19 has early issue liked 20. But currently 19 has no error during memTest ( 1.1hours in 3600mHz memtest already ; resume the full test tonight)

If you ask me why I'm so focus on 3600mHz. Becasue this ram is supposed to be 3600mHz. It's fine if it can smooth run in 3333mHz. Actually 20 RAM run smooth at 3333mHz at July and Aug. But today it's… too many errors. That make you think if keep using this ram would destory the PC.

那條「桐人」RAM快掛了

這次我用ID(最後2位數)來說比較好 15 16是沒問題的 19 很可疑 20 就是「桐人」

或者我的舊PC不是底版問題，也可能是RAM了 不過我有印象當時我有抽插過RAM…

我現在才知道現代的RAM死亡時，你的PC還可以用它的。WINDOW就好像什麼事都沒有正常啟動。並不會藍畫面，忽然閃退或連PC都開不動。

然後你有程式問題時，你只要RESTART又好像什麼事都沒有。

我是最近常看到BROWSER不自然沒RAM，AI開不到，KKS PATCH裝都不給你裝才知道是RAM有問題。

然後MEMTEST… WOW

20的ERROR又再來，然後我更新一下BIOS。20的ERROR接近上萬，即使用回2133mHz都是如此。我想這RAM沒救了，明天我還要打電話問保用問題，這應該又2天了。

原定現在是在作3600mHz memtest，但1回memtest要花5-6小時。我還是把它改在我睡覺時才慢慢查。

19可疑是因為。19跑2133mHz是0 error。然而每回轉3600mHz，PC就很難啟動。每回很難啟動，都剛好拔掉19就能解決。這其實看起來和20的初期狀況很似，上月我不就說20很桐人，就只有它1條時才可以開機。而3600mHz memtest 1.1小時，19是沒問題的。不知道19有沒有事。

而且保用我也不知道是不是19 20要一拚給，畢竟19 20是同一盒RAM。

如果你問我為什麼那麼執著3600mHz。畢竟買了的RAM是3600mHz，正常人也不會用2133mHz來跑。如果你不去弄XMP，你買RAM時其實揀最低mHz的就行。一來便宜，二來高mHz的全都是要靠XMP / DOCP來推，如果你買了RAM一直都沒在BIOS改XMP / DOCP。你的RAM很大機會就是跑2133mHz。DDR5的原廠速度我就沒查過是多少了。

I look back the history. The 20 ram is dead within a month ; properly 19 is going with it too as... it can't boot PC well in 3600mHz. It keeps can't boot and need to replug it till it can boot PC.

Performance

There's also a detachable boot drive option, and using an HP Z Turbo Drive Quad Pro in one of the PCIe slots gives upto four additional M.2 Solid State Drives for an extra 2TB of storage. Single and Dual M.2 SSD carriers are also supported. It should have noted that PCIe SSDs are not accessible with a SAS controller and need the HP 24 Fan and Front, Card Guide Kit. You have choices for hard drive controllers starting with the integrated SATA 6.0 Gb/s HD controller and factory integrated RAID on the motherboard for SATA drives. For RAID support on Linux systems, all drives need to be identical in type and volume. PCIe SSDs cannot use in a boot RAID configuration.

There are 6 PCI slots complete; three PCIe 3.0, two PCIe 2.0, and a legacy PCI slot.
