buck made the best decision of his life in 2x04 by deciding to do everything he could to support eddie and christopher while also starting to realise it’s time to let go of abby and then proceeded to make terrible choices in every episode 4 that’s followed that lmao

i know the episode airs in an hour and there's no point but this dialogue would not leave me in peace (5x04 speculation)
"Thank you so much," Buck groans when he lets Eddie into Chim and Maddie's apartment. "You're a life saver."
Eddie presses his lips together to keep from laughing, but Buck is so frazzled it's hard not to. But it's cute frazzled.
"Always happy to help," Eddie says.
It takes the two of them a considerable amount of effort to soothe Jee-Yun enough that she's willing to go to sleep, but eventually she does. Eventually, it's just the two of them in the main room of the apartment, the baby monitor clutched in Buck's hand like that's going to increase response time if she wakes up.
"I thought you were supposed to be good with kids," Eddie says, unable to help himself while the corner of his mouth twitches.
"Yeah, I am," Buck says and Eddie doesn't quite miss the muttered asshole and dodges the couch pillow that collides with his shin where he's leaning against the kitchen counter. Eddie laughs. "But I'm good with kids. I've never spent time with babies before. At least not by myself."
"You picked it up pretty quick," Eddie admits. Buck lights up, just a little. "You're gonna be a great dad one day."
Buck beams at him for just a second, glowing with the praise, and then his phone lights up. He dives for it and scans the screen, then drops it back on the couch with a sigh.
"Chimney?" Eddie asks.
"Nah," Buck says. "Taylor."
Eddie does his best to ignore the weird, snarling, hissing creature that sparks to life in his stomach at the mention.
His best is not great.
"Why didn't you ask Taylor to come help you tonight?" Eddie asks, and is immediately hit by the possible knowledge that he was Buck's second choice. That Buck had asked her, and she'd turned him down because of whatever Taylor reasons she had. That Eddie was Buck's second choice.
"Pfft," Buck scoffs, sinking back into the couch cushions. "Can you imagine Taylor with a baby?"
Eddie starts to say no just off the cuff, but stops himself. Because Buck's expression is doing a complicated series of aerobic exercises that tell a whole story of realisation and dismay and upset, that spell out a whole series of answers to his own question, none of which bode well for a potential future where Buck has a family of his own. And he doesn't need Eddie's two cents on that one.
"An-anyway," Buck says when he's managed to get his face to carefully neutral. "I really appreciate your help."
"Yeah," Eddie says, and tries to put as much meaning behind it as he can when he says, "Any time."
