Was rewatching one of my ultimate comfort movies from my childhood, The Last Unicorn, and… yeah another one of my Lyre x Quinnella songs has turned into a Basil x Quinnella song.

That beginning scene, with the wistful longing;

“I would court you with more grace if I knew how… I wish you wanted something of me…”

Lady Amalthea pleading, “drown out my dreams, make me forget whatever wants me to remember it…”

Literally how I picture Basil struggling with his emotions. He’s usually not one to struggle with words - but with Quinnella, for the first time in his life, words just keep getting in the way.

All he wishes to say is that he loves her but even that doesn’t seem enough, and despite his longing he cannot bring himself to speak them… “I’ve had time to write a book about the way you act and look… I haven’t got a paragraph.” What feels like thousands of crumpled pieces of paper are thrown about his study in pitiful fruitless attempts to even get his thoughts down in writing…

The feels are strong tonight my friends. 💕

Lyre finally finding Quinnella but not realizing like Basil’s the rodent who rescued her, not the rodent who kidnapped her, and in a blind rage flyin up to cut Basil in two.

Basil not missing a beat, just frickin whipping out his walking cane, unsheathing it, revealing one of those sick ass cane sword things to immediately parry the Scouting-Talents blade.

The two having a momentary scuffle, both of em a bit disheveled, torn shirts (mmm 💋), a few minor scraps, before Quinn can get them to stop and explain everything…
