I have finished season one of Star Trek: Discovery.

I don't understand the vehement hatred I had heard about this show. It is very much Star Trek, and I thought it was pretty good. Not the best first season of Star Trek, but certainly better than TNG, VOY, ENT, and PIC. The bulks of the complaints I have were issues I have with most modern television in general, and absolutely not specific to this show. Constant music, everything is so loud, the dialogue is too quiet, and it barely ever stops. That's contemporary film and television in a nutshell. Most the other issues were nitpicking. Things that didn't quite make sense, this could have been done different, that didn't really hit, what was the point of that? That type of stuff. Honestly, probably things I can point to in every Star Trek series at points. And while it didn't hurt my enjoyment, I don't like the new Klingon design... let me rephrase. The design is fantastic, but it's not Klingon to me. Were the original Trek fans upset when they got ridges? I don't know. It's just when I imagine a Klingon, I see Worf, I see Gowron, I see Martok. All that being said, well done to the crew on character design. They do look great just... not like Worf.

I kept forgetting to say, I thought Rainn Wilson as Harry Mudd was fantastic. If I’m being truthful, I could totally go for a 22 minute Star Trek: Harry Mudd or whatever. It could be a ton of fun, and really funny.

I really dug the subtle design changes on the Talosians in Star Trek Discovery. I always loved that species, because it’s such an Atomic Age alien design.

I started watching the new season of Discovery, but I had turn it off. Firstly, the camera movement nauseated the fuck out of me. Secondly, the Paramount app is absolute hot garbage. The app would completely freeze during any commercial.
