Lagos Day 3 - Bengali Cave
Wednesday 9/27
We woke up to another day of beautiful sunshine with the average temperature being around 75 degrees. After breakfast we walked to the Pingo Doce supermarket to buy our packaged salads for lunch. I was feeling a little home sick, so I selected the “Americana” salad :-). Packaged salads cost about 50 cents less here than in the states and they use real bacon chunks, not Bacos!
Tumblr media
We then walked over to the marina and made reservations for afternoon boat trip with Seafaris to see the famous sea cave called Cave of Benagil (Algar de Benagil) and the cliffs and caves around it. Since we are leaving tomorrow for Lisbon, we decided to walk over to the bus station to find out our travel options, only to find that the bus drivers might be on strike tomorrow! As a result we went to the train station to figure out our backup plan. The bus is more convenient, has more options and gets there quicker. We then exploded Old Town some more including going to the Largos Market Mall— which had fresh fruits, vegetables and fish.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
After lunch we took a tour on a boat out to the Bengali caves. The trip takes 20 minutes to get to the caves, 1 hour and 20 minutes at the caves and the 30 minutes to get back to Lagos.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
We had dinner at Mare Restaurante, which is an outdoor roof top restaurant at the Largos Market Mall. I had an Indonesian Chicken Salad, which was absolutely incredible, and MaryEllen had salmon. I also had the best Sangria I have ever had in my life! Better than any I have in Spain. I couldn’t believe how much fruit was in the glass. All this plus we got to watch the sunset over the marina and ocean from our table.
