I would like to smite whoever instilled the association between Ryuk and Ariana Grande’s most salacious songs into my head. You forced my hand as soon as I heard her new album, even though I’m dead tired.
Ryuk/Reader smut stuff pt. 3
Warning: Some body image issues, but less focus on that than I intended. Reader is pretty fem as well. Tagging @aescela, @spookyghoullover, and @slager1349 just in case y'all wanted to be tagged for stuff that isn’t exactly my main fanfic idk lemme know if I should change that.
“Hey,” Ryuk started. Instinctively he reached out to take your arm and pull it away from your face. “Why’re you hidin’ from me?”
Your breath stuttered in your chest, and you felt the heat intensify behind your cheeks. Ryuk’s grip on you was gentle, but you could see the way his spindling fingers overlapped each other because of how tiny your wrist was compared to his claws. You felt weary for a second, caught between the mortification of having your reaction pointed out very plainly and the fluttering in your stomach over the size difference.
Licking your lips, you tried to look him in the eye. “I… I’m just shy, I guess.”
“Huh?” An indent formed on Ryuk’s prominent brow, clear confusion in his exaggerated look and the downturn of his lips against the usual Glasgow grin. “Why’re you shy?”
His pupils darted over your face, then lower. “I’ve seen you without clothes on before.”
His quick perception of the issue had your mouth fall slightly, honest surprise forcing a lump in your throat. Ryuk pulled you by your arm delicately, taking advantage by rolling you onto your back so that you could no longer hide in the pillow.
Nervously, you laughed. It was becoming such a commonly-employed tick that you found yourself growing annoyed over your own habits. “You’re right.”
“It’s stupid.” You shook your head, eyes less focused. “I mean obviously, we’ve been living together for a long time and we’ve… done that.”
God, you wanted to crawl into a hole and die. “But not like this.”
Your shinigami cocked his head, still perturbed. In the back of your mind, you admired the way his facial structure flexed and changed if he truly wanted it to. And the privately cherished implication that he was only so emotive with you. No one else.
“You - You’re looking right at me.” You mumbled, face burning. “Usually we just do it and you’re not this close while you’re -”
You stopped, letting out a frustrated sigh. As you turned it over in your head, you could see how you were making a fuss over nothing. “I’m sorry, it’s just a dumb human feeling.”
The hand that had been wrapped around your arm released you just as Ryuk finally touched down from where he’d been hovering right above you. His bony knees landed on either side of your legs as he slid both hands down to curve around your ribcage.
You gasped softly, keenly aware of the way his fingers curled, digging themselves into the comforter beneath you so that he could get a proper hold on you. At the same time, his face drew nearer, until he filled up your worldview.
His thumbs smoothed over your lower rib bones, tracing up to your breasts all while his black talons skated along your skin. Your skin turned to gooseflesh as he took his time, the curiosity that colored his entire being coming out while he drifted up to your collarbone.
You didn’t know what to expect with a partial admission of your own insecurities. Ryuk was always questioning, ever-intrigued and had patience that surpassed any human’s, so he could’ve continued asking about it. At the same time, he was always hungry, especially now that intimacy was on the table. If you ever even hinted at wanting, he was now there in a flash as if you were on par with apples, pawing at you and your clothes.
The god didn’t question it when you gave him those juicy apples and you as well, so you might’ve expected him to whine away your silly hangups.
This, him - touching you with deliberate slowness and eyeing the way your body responded... was a strange amalgamation of the two. It was somewhat like when you’d first engaged in intimacy with him, but less clumsy. His cold hands could span over large portions of your body in a wandering sort of way, touching on little scars, freckles, moles, and stretch marks.
You winced at that. Dumb human feeling or not, you’d been raised on the notion that your body was shameful and imperfect.
“Quit saying that.” Ryuk said candidly, as if it were a catchphrase. “You think I don’t like what I see?”
His words made you blink.
“Um,” Your back arched as the death god smoothed over your nipple. “M-most guys -”
“I’m not ‘most guys’.” Ryuk’s goofy grin returned as he flicked at the sensitive area again.
In his hands, your chest started to rise and fall, shaking, as you couldn’t help but laugh, slightly disbelieving at your partner’s shrewdness. It only escalated as one of Ryuk’s thumbs swept over your belly, pressing into you lightly to make you squirm.
His thumb wriggled mercilessly, despite you immediately trying to shove him away amid full-body giggling. Your head fell back into the pillow with a cry as the shinigami replaced his thumb with his long, slimy tongue.
“Hey!” Your laughter was hysterical, limbs turning into jelly though you still prodded at his grip on you with your meager strength. “Stop it! Enough. Stop. Please!”
Ryuk’s otherworldly chuckling was muffled over a busy tongue, but hearing it made any remnants of being grounded by shame dissolve. It was so instantaneous that you didn’t notice the change at all.
Your laughter caught in your throat, and a startled ‘oh!’ left your mouth as the stroke of his tongue finally found what had been Ryuk’s goal all along. His dark hands had already glided down to grip you by your hips, steady as they lifted you up by your bottom.
His red eyes gleamed at you from between your legs. You could practically hear his guttural voice in your head.
                                              I love what I see.
The sight grew fuzzy as you slackened, eyes rolling back in your head when his tongue swirled eagerly, hungrily. Always hungry.

ALBUM REVIEW: Tom Walker - What A Time To Be Alive

ALBUM REVIEW: Tom Walker - What A Time To Be Alive
Tom Walker’s debut, “What A Time To Be Alive”, is everything you would expect from a pop singer/songwriter in 2019 and absolutely nothing more. The 13 track album chronicles a seemingly familiar story of a rough and ready “everyday bloke” singing about “real world” problems, dressed up in production that has the potential to fill stadiums and care homes the world over. Whilst casting your ears upon the Glasgow born singers music, you can almost hear your Nan saying “Oh I like that Tom Walker”.
Lyrically, Walker touches on some hard-hitting concepts, telling tales of addiction and mental health issues in lead single “Leave A Light On”. Whilst it is commendable to be shining a “light” on important and prevalent issues, the effect is somewhat diminished by the frustratingly predictable production. The amalgamation of EDM, orchestral and hip hop tinged instrumentation doesn’t leave much to the imagination, a theme that feels ever-present throughout the body of work.
Highlights are track one “Angels”, one to get your head bopping and brain replaying the chorus all day. “Just You And I”, a harmless, folk-influenced tune for all the hopeless romantics and “How Can You Sleep At Night”, which features a soaring guitar line that Jonny Buckland of Coldplay would consider a good day’s work. However “Not Giving In” and “Dominoes” are fairly indistinguishable from each other and the reason why both are featured is a little unclear.
What is clear though, is that the modern pop formula is certainly alive and has festered inside Walker’s debut. With 10 out 13 tracks being under 4 minutes it is impossible to imagine how any of them couldn’t end up in Radio 1’s A list and with big collaborations with the likes of Zara Larsson on the average “Now You’re Gone”, you get the sense that Walker and his team were very aware of the fact. However, with streaming figures in the hundreds of millions, they certainly won’t be complaining.
Overall, whilst Walker has been declared a breakthrough act, his debut effort is far from groundbreaking.

REVIEW: LAKE PLEASANT LIVE AT CAPTAIN TOMS; JULY 13, 2019
Tumblr media
Many local bands have rehearsed at Aberdeen’s Captain Toms practice rooms, pretty much the premier place for bands to hammer out material.  It’s a real hub of the Aberdeen music community, and occasionally hosts gigs like last night. Lake Pleasant had stellar support in bands Slow Renewal, Anyone’s Ghost, Empty Maps and RAMØNA.
Tumblr media
Kicking off this intimate gig, taking place in one of those practice rooms, was Slow Renewal, usually a post-hardcore four-piece from Tayside, Perth.  These guys are touring buddies with the aforementioned, headline act so there was a desire to check them out on that basis if nothing else. They’ve come on leaps and bounds with their live set, the tour obviously turning them into a well-greased machine.  The end product was meant for all to see if you came along last night. It actually turned out to be a one man band; their guitarist and vocalist, Brodie Mack, blaming it on a “nuclear explosion”. “Too soon,” quipped someone in the audience. He carried off the dynamics of a full band commendably, regardless.  Certainly took a lot of bottle.  Anyway, he was atmospheric with a sound surprisingly three dimensional.  A good opener despite all the setbacks, the main support rescheduled on the running order to be made opener and being a good sport about it.
Tumblr media
An amalgamation of Dundee, Perth and Glasgow, Anyone’s Ghost, next.  The two-piece, “…hunks play fast emo.” Nothing like a bit of mystery.  Actually, what seemed to be a two-piece project prior to this gig was actually double that. These guys were jarring and dissonant, yet clear and melodic but always emphatic.  Dragging heels despondency, spritely and definitely full of energy.
Tumblr media
The third band on the bill, three-piece Aberdeen outfit, Empty Maps, next. Reverb drenched, bass driven indie rock with shoegaze and post-rock leanings, to be exact. Influences are the likes of My Bloody Valentine, The Twilight Sad, The Unwinding Hours, Mogwai, Mark Kozelek, Hope Of The States, Death Cab For Cutie, M83, Bat For Lashes, Brain Eno, Low, Joy Division, Fugazi, Moderat, Future Islands and Warpaint. Genuinely pained and tortured, blaring and thunderous, brooding and moody. Choppy, driving and dissonantly melodic with a massive sound, possibly a loop pedal, like having an extra member of the band.
Tumblr media
Main support, RAMØNA, were another Aberdeen act for the night.  Featuring emotionally charged lyrics, passionate delivery and catchy choruses, the four-piece draw influence from early indie and post-punk pioneers as well as shoegaze and modern alternative, such as Estrons, Anteros and WAAX. They took Best Alternative Act at The Fudge Music Awards 2019, and have released music for the first time outwith live performance.  Track, “Grow Up”, came out Friday (July 12). Sometimes funk inflected guitar, sometimes more towards the punk side of things.  Mostly angst ridden rock, dragging heels drive and despondency. Much energy with a power of work rhythm section, frenetic and almost jazzy.
Tumblr media
Following that was the headline band, Lake Pleasant.  The East Coast slowgaze three-piece are “…sometimes loud, sometimes quiet, always slow. shoegaze from the end of the world, scotland. performed by three sailors lost at sea.” Actually, what seemed to be a three-piece were actually a four come the night.  They’re due in Edinburgh, Perth and Glasgow before landing in Aberdeen for this very gig. This won’t stop the guys landing in Dunfermline tonight, the last show of the tour. First on their set, “Wishes Were Horses”, was slow and stomping.  There was a certain abruptness to it, a finality almost heavy metal.  It slowly sped, incrementally.  So emphatic. Then the ringing out, mighty and triumphant of “Filling Gaps”.  Locking in a groove that beamed out into space.
youtube
“Spinning” is their latest single and that’s what they played, next.  This had heads nodding, enraptured by the stoner’s vibe.  A deserved one at that. Capo on the bass a first for this reviewer. Backs to crowd with “Dark Unsweet”, not a care in the world.  Perfect synchronicity, chemistry a band of brothers.  The sound desolate and barren. Slowed, doomy stranded in a desert Kyuss.   Closer, “Beautiful In June”.  This was meaty, full on.  Such power, definitely a metallic influence and far from even the smallest notion of anything within the indie sphere.
Tumblr media
Lake Pleasant’s latest track (June 28), “Spinning”, can be bought on iTunes, here. Catch Slow Renewal supporting Lake Pleasant at Monty’s Bar tonight (July 14). Also visit their Facebook, Bandcamp and Spotify pages to keep tabs on Lake Pleasant.

Hyperallergic: A Film Mixes Fact and Fiction to Illuminate the Lives of Queer Teens in Bangkok
Movie poster for #BKKY, from the last scene of the movie (all images courtesy of the director, Nontawat Numbenchapol)
#BKKY’s opening scene is a brilliant five-minute-long single-shot piece of cinematography, taken from underneath a desk. We see only the legs of two young high school girls and hear them talk flirtatiously with one another. One offers a gift, and then — in fantastically awkward teenage dialogue — asks the other out.
I’m excited. It’s going to be an adorable lesbian love story set in Bangkok.
Then the fourth wall abruptly breaks when a third voice enters: the director gently prodding the actresses to play footsy. Is this an outtake? The clapperboard enters the frame, clacks, withdraws — taking with it any assumption about what this story will be and how it will be told.
Jojo and Q, from the desk scene, but shot from above the desk
I won’t spoil the movie too much. It’s a coming-of-age love story following the character Jojo, who embodies an amalgamation of interviews the director conducted with 100 Thai teenagers, representing a smattering of gender orientations. Jojo is a 17-year-old senior in high school, and we follow her from when she is first asked out in the opening scene by Q, her new, slightly butch girlfriend, to when she applies for college, and beyond.
This is the third film by young Thai director Nontawat Numbenchapol (born in Bangkok in 1983). It weaves a handful of the interviews in with Jojo’s fictional story, with heavy direction from a diary one interviewee gave the director. Nontawat did not have a story in mind for the film prior to the interviews.
Some of the time, the studio interviews appear like context for a documentary, complementing the fictional storyline. At other times, they become background audio. At really magical moments, the two seem to converge and blend, leaving us guessing as to the true parameters of this story: what is fact and what is fiction.
Jojo and Q on vacation
Nontawat manages to make a well-worn plot feel very fresh. #BKKY includes elements of both a melodrama documentary and a queer reality TV show, with all the stories, breakups, and after-scene interviews, but remains distinctly neither. Over the course of the film, the nagging questions of categorization — what is true here? where do documentary and story start and end? — fade as we give in to the film.
A notable example of Nontawat’s prowess as a director is an incredible four-minute shot following Jojo’s meeting with Jasper, an American skater who speaks poor Thai. The single shot follows Jojo jogging with a friend, takes us around a skatepark, then to Jasper spotting her and the two exchanging contact information, and culminates by suddenly flying straight up, giving us a look at the whole scene from about 100 meters. In an abrupt twist in plot and assumed sexual orientation, the scene captures the magical feeling of hope and excitement at the prospect of a new crush, via a drone. I hope this director gets a big budget one day.
Jasper and Jeff in bed
#BKKY recalls Mysterious Object at Noon (2000), an early work by Thailand’s most famous director, Apichatpong Weerasethaku. For that film, Apichatpong traveled around Thailand doing an “exquisite corpse” exercise in filmmaking, allowing locals to direct his plot. Stories grow and then collapse; an overarching plot is hinted at and then takes an absurd turn. Passersby turn into actors, then back into citizens. Somewhere along the way, Mysterious Object at Noon becomes a poetic window into the Thai people, blending fiction and personal stories.
As Mysterious Object at Noon searches for narrative through the public, #BKKY‘s personal interviews and overarching story hint at powerful sociopolitical forces dominating Thailand, namely the patriarchy. While context and facts vary widely, the dominance and relevance of the patriarchy — in the form of the divine king as well as the father as the head of the household — is a source of much tension throughout the movie. This is most clearly embodied in Jojo’s strict father, who becomes a stand-in for all of the interviewees’ fathers.
Like Thailand’s strict “lèse majesté” laws, which make criticism of the king highly illegal, Jojo’s father will not tolerate disobedience. His patriarchal demeanor, and its metaphor for the state, is embodied in his job: selling military and police uniforms. Jojo meets all of her father’s attempts at control with various measures of disinterest, disregard, and outright contempt. This makes the film both a classic coming-of-age story, as well as a unique view of the specifics of life in Bangkok.
Jasper at the airport
There is a beautiful moment when Jojo and Q are in a fight that, to me, embodies the tension between the desired affect and the lived reality of political life. The two teens sit silently in a park, close but clearly feeling quite distant from one another. A loudspeaker broadcast of the Thai national anthem begins to play — as it does daily at 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. — and many people in the park stand in loyalty and allegiance. Our subjects do not rise. In fact, they, along with several other teenagers in the background, do not seem to notice at all. It’s a clear indication that the state imagines its power to reach much further than it ever truly does.
The movie ends with Jojo’s interview beginning again. This time, however, we see the lights, the microphones, and the darkened stage, and Jojo’s face is blocked by the interviewer preparing the shot. We are looking at the hardware, the material construction behind the story that has just enraptured us. Jojo brazenly bends out from behind the camera and gives the viewers a knowing grin. She, the actress Ploiyukhon Rojanakatanyoo, knows exactly who she is in this film — and we do too. The story collapses in on its own telling, but the ride, filled with small windows into the realities and stories of being a queer teenager in Bangkok, was delightful.
#BKKY will be screened on March 26 during the GLITCH Film Festival at the Centre for Contemporary Arts in Glasgow, and on April 8 at Wicked Queer Festival in Boston.

Transform Your Smile with Cosmetic Dentistry in Glasgow
Your smile is one of your most prominent facial features, and it plays a significant role in your overall appearance and self-confidence. If you're unhappy with the appearance of your teeth, cosmetic dentistry can help you achieve the smile you've always wanted. Dental clinics in Glasgow offer a wide range of cosmetic dentistry options that can enhance the aesthetics of your teeth and gums and improve your dental health.
Cosmetic dentistry focuses on improving the appearance of your teeth and gums, and it has become increasingly popular in recent years as advancements in dental technology have made procedures more accessible, efficient, and comfortable. Let's take a closer look at some of the cosmetic dentistry options available at dental clinics in Glasgow.
Teeth Whitening: Brighten Your Smile
Teeth whitening is one of the most popular cosmetic dentistry procedures, and for a good reason. If you have stained or discoloured teeth due to factors such as coffee, tea, tobacco, or age, teeth whitening can help you achieve a brighter smile. Dental clinics in Glasgow offer professional teeth whitening options that are safer and more effective than over-the-counter products. With in-office teeth whitening procedures, your dentist can whiten your teeth by several shades in just one visit, giving you a noticeable improvement in your smile's appearance.
Veneers: Enhance Your Smile
Veneers are another popular cosmetic dentistry option that can transform your smile. Dental veneers are thin shells made of porcelain or composite material that are custom-made to fit over the front surface of your teeth. They can be used to correct a variety of dental issues, including chipped, misaligned, stained, or uneven teeth. Veneers can provide you with a straighter, whiter, and more even smile, giving you a natural-looking and long-lasting result.
Dental Implants: Restore Missing Teeth
If you're missing one or more teeth, dental implants can be an excellent solution. Dental implants are artificial tooth roots that are surgically placed into your jawbone, and they provide a stable and durable foundation for replacement teeth. Dental clinics in Glasgow offer dental implants that are custom-made to match the colour, shape, and size of your natural teeth, providing you with a natural-looking and functional solution for missing teeth. Dental implants can help restore your smile and improve your oral health by preventing issues such as bone loss and shifting of teeth.
Orthodontics: Straighten Your Teeth
Orthodontic treatments, such as braces or clear aligners, can help you achieve a straighter and more aligned smile. Dental clinics in Glasgow offer a variety of orthodontic options to suit your needs, whether you prefer traditional braces or more discreet options such as Invisalign. Orthodontic treatments can correct issues such as crooked, crowded, or gapped teeth, and can significantly improve the aesthetics and function of your smile.
Cosmetic Bonding: Repair Your Teeth
Cosmetic bonding is a minimally invasive procedure that can repair chipped, cracked, or discoloured teeth. It involves applying a tooth-coloured resin material to the affected tooth and shaping it to match the natural contours of your teeth. The resin is then bonded and polished to provide a seamless and natural-looking result. Cosmetic bonding can be a cost-effective and efficient way to improve the appearance of your teeth and achieve a more harmonious smile.
In Conclusion

The professional home whitening kits utilise a deep bleach technique and gently whiten teeth over a period of approximately 3 weeks, removing deep stains and giving you a beautiful smile. The team then custom create a set of snug teeth trays for you to wear at home. They are comfortable and can be worn during the day or at night, depending on your preference.  Invisalign
Most aesthetic teeth-related issues can be solved with Invisalign, which is why it is the most popular of teeth straightening. Invisalign in Glasgow can solve crooked teeth, closing gaps and overcrowding. Your teeth will be guided into position with a series of clear, removable and comfortable aligners that are almost invisible. The team start by taking impressions of your teeth which are then used to create aligners that will move your teeth by a few millimeters each week. Some people need 12 aligners, and some people need up to 48, depending on the required results. Each aligner is worn for 2 weeks and you will be required to visit us every 6 weeks to make sure that your treatment is on target.
The first step is to discuss the issues you have with the dentist to work out a unique treatment plan. Invisalign in Cambuslang focus on bespoke treatment that works efficiently and quickly, which in turn is then cost-effective. The whole process takes between 9 – 18 months and aligners should be worn for 22 hours a day, removing only for eating and drinking.
 Fillings
The team offer dental amalgam and composite fillings. Dental amalgam is the traditional silver-coloured filling. Composite fillings are becoming more popular, but amalgam fillings are more durable and long-lasting. Amalgam fillings are the only type of filling provided under the NHS, as composite fillings are viewed as cosmetic and hence must be paid for.
