Local officers work with residents to bring violent burglar to justice
Tumblr media
A prolific burglar from west London who targeted elderly and vulnerable residents has been jailed after the Met’s Flying Squad and local officers worked with the community to bring him to justice.   Luke Connors, 23, from Northolt, was sentenced to nine years’ imprisonment after being found guilty of conspiracy to commit burglary and robbery, following a two-week trial.   He was sentenced at Isleworth Crown Court on Monday after being guilty on Thursday, 29 June.   The court heard how Connors was involved in a spate of burglaries between Wednesday, 31 August 2022 and Friday, 28 October.   On Sunday, 4 September a man in his 70s was on his way home from a pub in Ickenham when he spotted men in masks looking suspicious. The defendants noticed him and unbeknown to the victim, followed him in his car to his home address. Before entering his property, he was punched and stabbed with a screwdriver. They stole his dash-cam from his vehicle.   Members of Ickenham’s Neighbourhood Watch and other local residents came together and provided relevant CCTV footage to officers. Officers were then able to discover the vehicle the offenders were using.   The Flying Squad, working with local officers in north and west London, along with other police forces in Hertfordshire and Thames Valley. They identified 11 linked series of burglaries.   The total value of items stolen was in the region of £200,000 of cash, jewellery and high value items.   Detectives established the offences were linked by the use of vehicles and stolen items. Working collaboratively with local neighbourhood watch teams’ detectives were able to build their evidence.   Detectives reviewed hours of CCTV and automatic number plate recognition data. They carried out surveillance and on Tuesday, 1 November they arrested Connors in Paddington Green. He was charged as above.   Two further men were also arrested, charged and await trial.   #northolt #ickenham #jailed #flyingsquad #community #neighbourhoodwatch #cctv #anpr Read the full article

The Role of ANPR in Smart Parking Management System
Tumblr media
Introduction:
Smart parking management systems have revolutionized the way we handle parking in urban areas, and Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) plays a vital role in their success. ANPR, also known as license plate recognition, utilizes advanced camera technology to capture and process vehicle license plate information swiftly and accurately. In this article, we will explore the significance of ANPR in smart parking management systems and how it enhances efficiency, convenience, and overall parking experience.
Improved Parking Efficiency with ANPR:
ANPR cameras integrated into smart parking management systems enable real-time monitoring of parking spaces. By capturing number plate information, ANPR technology provides valuable data on the occupancy of parking spots, allowing operators to efficiently manage parking availability. This data enables the implementation of dynamic parking guidance systems, ensuring drivers are directed to available spaces, minimizing congestion, and reducing the time spent searching for parking.
Boom Barrier Access Control:
Boom barriers play a crucial role in access control within smart parking management systems. Integrated with Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) technology, these barriers ensure enhanced security and efficiency. As vehicles approach the entry or exit points, ANPR cameras capture license plate information swiftly and accurately. The boom barriers then automatically grant or deny access based on authorized plate numbers, eliminating the need for manual intervention. This seamless integration of ANPR and boom barriers streamlines the parking process, enhances security measures, and optimizes traffic flow, contributing to a superior parking experience.
Enhanced Security and Enforcement:
ANPR cameras act as an extra layer of security in parking management systems. They can capture license plate information and cross-reference it with databases of stolen or wanted vehicles, enabling quick identification and potential enforcement actions. Furthermore, ANPR technology assists in monitoring and detecting parking violations, such as overstaying time limits or parking in restricted areas. By automatically recognizing number plates, ANPR systems streamline the enforcement process, ensuring compliance with parking regulations.
Real-time Analytics and Data Insights:
ANPR software and systems generate valuable data that can be leveraged for informed decision-making. By analyzing the captured license plate information, parking operators can gain insights into parking patterns, peak hours, and duration of stays. This data allows them to optimize parking facility operations, allocate resources efficiently, and plan for future infrastructure improvements based on accurate usage data.
Conclusion:
In the realm of smart parking management systems, ANPR technology along with AI Video Analytics serves as fundamental components, significantly improving efficiency, convenience, security, and data analysis. With their ability to capture and process license plate information accurately, ANPR and AI Video Analytics enable streamlined payment processes, effective access control, enhanced security measures, and data-driven decision-making. As cities continue to evolve and prioritize smart solutions, ANPR and AI Video Analytics will remain critical elements in creating intelligent parking management systems that address the growing challenges of urban parking.

Automatic Number Plate Recognition in short ANPR. So, ANPR is a technology that generally used in traffic signal to detect the Number plate of violating vehicle. Automatic Number Plate Recognition works with OCR (Optical Character Recognition) that converts the data into an editable form and that form is easily searched and stored in the database network. For full about the ANPR that where it installed, more working areas, and about what technology inside than go through the link.
