My best-dressed from last night's Met Gala, and why.
Lupita Nyong'o - Versace: This woman is always on my best-dressed list, for every event. I love Lupita and I love how she just... GETS IT. Blue denim craziness is what the night needed. An elevated and couture interpretation of that... Britney dress? Maybe?
Paloma Elsesser - Zac Posen: For me, Zac is THE American designer (from the US, "American" for me is North, Center, and South) so it's very fitting to have been invited by him and choosing red as well. Long live Zac Posen, KING of North American Couture and garment construction.
Billie Eilish - Oscar de la Renta: Giving an homage to Old Hollywood figures like Marilyn Monroe. Besides her looking THE BEST SHE HAS LOOKED EVER, what did it for me was her response to the idea behind the design: "When I was young I was very into designer Barbies" so if that's not America: A Lexicon in Fashion for you... IDK what is. Genius.
Saweetie - Christian Cowan: Do I like the dress? Mmm not much, BUT she added the Filipino and Black Heritage flags in such a delicate and beautiful way, it gets just perfect. THIS WAS THE THEME PEOPLE!!
Kendall Jenner - Givenchy: I never like what the Kardashians wear, except at the Met Galas. And this year the obvious winner of the clan is Miss Kendall throwing a nod to My Fair Lady... if you won't be dressed by an American designer, then the next best option is to be dressed by a house that build the image of the American Hollywood Icon of the last century. Well done.
Lili Reinhart - Christian Siriano: OKAY HEAR ME OUT. I know, I knowww it's too basic, but so is American fashion my friends. But is pretty and before you stop reading, my reason was: She has all 50 states flowers!!! Isn't that cute? I like it.
Eva Chen - Christopher John Rogers: Is fun, is new, is fitting. I want more of this.
Evan Mock - Thom Browne: This is the only black suit I saw. The rest weren´t there, my eyes just didn´t capture them. We should ban men who dare to show up in black suits... except for this situation. The mask on gave me more drama, but his face is too beautiful so I'm not mad.
Michaela Coel - Balenciaga: Is blue, is shiny. Um... idk, I like it. Gives me American also.
Kerby Jean-Raymond - Pyer Moss: is he on this list because he's the only person I saw dressed by Pyer Moss? Maybe. He's giving me American violence and protest and I'm here for it. And after so many mediocre men in black... he cleanses my eyes. Thank you.
These are just my opinions, be happy! And please come back for next year's Oscars and Met Gala lists!
