Swiss Fact Check #3
While the first constitution of Switzerland dates back to 1848, the Confederation itself already existed way before that and was founded back in the late 13th century in the form of multiple so called “Bundesbriefe” (federal letters), of which the most famous one dates back to 1291
Switzerland is actually not a confederation, it’s just the Latin name that implies it. Since 1848, Switzerland is a federation
This video was published on the 4th of October 2016. The population statistics for 2015 (8'327′100) and 2016 (8'391'973) are both slightly off. I mainly wonder where the number is from, especially as the Bundesamt für Statistik only publishes these statistics once a year
We do not vote on every issue, nor does every issue has too much effect on each individual person
“Chäs-chüechli” is written like “Chäschüechli”, without hyphen. Also, in German orthography you would also commonly capitalize the second word (Chüechli in this case) as well, as it is a noun.
Switzerland has the highest GDP per capita if Qatar, Luxembourg, Macau, Liechtenstein, Singapore, Bermuda, Isle of Man, Brunei, Monaco, Kuwait, Ireland, Norway, United Arab Emirates, Sint Maarten and San Marino all wouldn’t exist.
While Swiss trains are the most reliable trains in the world, it is worth noting that the punctuality of 87.7% is calculated by counting all trains that are more than 3 minutes late. Other countries only consider trains more than 10 minutes late to actually be late, making the statistics incomparable
Do we really love the SBB?
Tina Turner lives at the lake, not on top of it wtf (are you afraid of trying to say “Küssnacht”?)
Other stuff: How he pronounces Chuchichäschtli, and the way he butchers Chäschüechli. This channel also uploaded this video here and its great
9/2.567 = 3.506 fake facts/minutes (I still like the video a lot, don’t get me wrong)
