"Thank you, Mr. Oridal." Vornik said, bowing his head as scooped his supplies into his backpack.

"Of course, little guardian, any time!" The oliveblood shopkeep beamed, "Always a delight to have you, you know."

Vornik said his goodbyes and ducked out of the shop, his bag bumping against his shoulder. Turning, he headed through the main square, the sound of wrigglers shrieking with laughter and music filling the night air around him.

He stopped to let a lusus and her charge pass by, before he spotted something that made him speed up. "Ms. Rieviq, would you like some help?" He called as he approached the elderly rustblood, who was struggling to carry armloads of groceries.

The elder looked up, relief washing across her face. "Oh, guardian, yes please." She huffed.

Vornik took the bags from her, the two of them chatting politely as Vornik followed her to her hive.

"You seems happier, guardian." She noted.

"Do I?"

"Mhm. Something changed for you, didn't it?"

"Yes, ma'am."

"I can tell. The whole village can. You're happier." The elder looked up at him, eyes twinkling. "Did you get a matesprit?" She asked teasingly.

Vornik blanched, his face instantly flushing. "No, no, nothing like that!" He protested, probably louder than he meant to, "I didn't- I mean, I haven't-"

The elder chuckled. "I jest, my dear. Whatever happened, we are happy that you are happy."

Vornik lapsed into silence, lost in thought as he carried the bags into her cookingblock for her upon reaching her hive.

She thanked him profusely, insisting he take a jar of soup with him, which he carefully tucked into his backpack before leaving.

Finally, he made it out of the village, to where his lusus waited. The two of them headed deeper into the trees, until Vornik was confident they wouldn't be seen.

He slipped his bag off and undressed, carefully tucking his clothes inside, until all he wore was his necklace that bore his sign. He passed the backpack to his lusus, then turned and took off.

His quick strides turned into a run, to a gallop, and with a graceful leap, he lunged over a creek and transformed.

His paws slammed onto the shore on the opposite side, and the horned, silver-white wolf all but flew over the ground as he raced for home.

Simple: Urania’s ideal date is a dinner date!

A surprise dinner date.

Imagine coming hive from work, only to see what was a mess that evening now spotless. There’s an irresistible aroma from the cookingblock, music you love in the background. You sneak over, wondering if your moirail or matesprit (ew) really took to heart how stressed you are this week, and decided to treat you! But once you enter your consumptionblock, you see THEM instead.

Your kismesis stands in front of a pulled out chair, dressed to the nines while you look like hot fucking garbage, smugness oozing from every pore of their body. The ask how your night was, and insist you take a seat. Both plates have the same thing: A selection of dishes you adore, with one dish you find disgusting in the center, touching all the others. They know your taste perfectly, likes and dislikes.

They keep on making small talk, asking what you think of the food and how you’re doing now. They know you like it. They know you really appreciate this gesture, that you needed it, and you’re disgusted by the fact you do. How did they manage to do this?? The ambiance is occasionally disrupted by a song from an artist you hate, even if only because you think they’re terribly overplayed. Some songs repeat multiple times. Each element that is done just right is marred by details that put you on edge.

You resist the urge to tell you how much you hate them, because if you do, you know they’ll hold over your head how ungrateful you are later. How could you tell someone that made you dinner and cleaned up everything that you hate them??

She’s not fussed about whether or not she’d be the one behind the surprise or the victim of it. Either way, it’s PEAK romance to her!! It has thought but it has one-upsmanship. It has flair, but discretion. It has tension.
