"He's back...with a vengeance. The darkest shadow of the strongest warrior. Sealed in the labyrinth of the mirror for aeons, this dark knight has returned with one thing on his mind... Revenge!" - Kirby Triple Deluxe
Despite already featuring in a previous prompt, I've self-indulgently included Dark Meta Knight in another. I like him a lot, okay? This one was another rough one because I wanted to show that DMK is not in a good headspace during Dededetour. He's definitely been trapped in the Dimension Mirror for a while in my headcanon, though not as long as "aeons" as the quote suggests. That wouldn't even be possible unless Dimension Mirror time works way differently than Dream Land's, and if that's the case... oof.

A Record of Darkness
The following is a record kept for the sake of posterity. Given the dangers of my profession and the dire nature of the ancient knowledge I keep secret, I thought this to be a wise precaution. I, Meta Knight, of the fallen order of the Star Warriors, hereby swear that the following to be the truth. Or at least, as true to reality as I understand it. Given the eldritch nature of this information, the truth, or perhaps reality itself, remains ever obscured.
Part One: The Beginning of Nothing
While I know a great deal more about the beginning than most other sentient beings, much of this information remains purely academic. Before the great explosion that produced the universe as we know it, there was an interminable nothingness. The whole of our reality, and every reality to come, originated from this state. A seemingly eternal purgatory where nothing tangible existed.
Then came darkness. An all-consuming shadow crept into the nothingness, blanketing the nascent universe in the darkest night imaginable. This state was the dark in its truest form or, to put it in more recognizable terms: inert dark matter.
It did not remain inert. No matter how unbelievable it may seem, an intelligence emerged from the utter bleakness. To try to contextualize this and to stave off accusations of madness, I remind the skeptical that life-forms have known to materialize in the most extreme conditions. Such as primitive bacteria thriving in pools of boiling acid.
But this was not life as we corporeal, three-dimensional beings understand it. No, it is anathema to us, and us to it. That is why the first action taken by the Void was to prevent the birth of the physical universe. Within the complete darkness, tiny sparks of life flitted into existence. The Void attempted to snuff out these life-lights as they manifested into his singular reality. Ironically, the Void's overzealous drive to remain the only denizen of all dimensions proved to be its undoing.
It squeezed every last burning spark into an incredibly tiny space. It struggled in vain to contain the light, but singular drive and colossal efforts throughout countless eons were of no avail. The light burst from the grasp of its tendrils and exploded into what many call "The Big Bang."
And so the Void was undone by its self-obsessed greed, scattered throughout the newborn multiverse as inert dark matter. If only it had stayed as such. Despite this calamitous forces involved, the Void survived, waiting for the opportune conditions for it to manifest on our physical plain. It is always seeking a path to return the order of the universe to the state where it held complete dominion.
It has many names, but I will not speak of them here, as that is best left to elucidate at another time.
