Late to post, but here’s Week 2 of Spellbound.
-
Aug. 22
I woke up around 11AM.
Did some video editing and started uploading the footage of me drawing that Remus pixel portrait of Remus.
The did some dishes and made today’s Hello Fresh Meal. Mushroom Penne with truffle cream. I liked it to a middling extent (I’m enjoying truffle more myself, but I recognize how intense of a flavor it is). But yeah. It was met with a “meh”.
Spent a few hours updating some logs and documenting last few day’s of events. Then, I did today’s exercise.
First, today’s DD. 40 climbers with EC. Pretty fun and breezy. I tried to land lightly on my feet this time - just to feel graceful like that.
Last, Chapter 7 of the SbP. I was to charge and cast “Healing Level 1 Spell“ to help an NPC out. I rested about 1′ in between sets - it was mostly breezy yoga... mostly. Glad the up/down dogs were done in pairs, the child’s pose was a nice breather too. Really felt the fatigue build-up when it came to that plank hold. But it was pretty satisfying to transition between exercises as smoothly as possible!
Did some online shopping and watched YouTube before bed... late again.
-
Aug. 23
I woke up after 11AM.
Did some chatting and whatnot before getting in today’s exercise early (which was welcomingly chill.)
First, today’s DD. 1′ plank punches with EC. I counted exactly 60 reps today, so I’m fairly happy about that pace!
Last, Chapter 8 of the SbP. I was to charge and cast “Tracking Spell“. It was nice to just do meditation again. This required 10′ and I focused on breathing from the belly as best I could. Mind wandered a lil but that’s just how it goes. It was still pretty relaxing!
Chill was disrupted by a transient health scare with Dad... threw my entire day off. Was supposed to be movie night, but between anxiety about that and fear that things would interrupt movie time. But chatting and browsing stuff helped a bit.
I got to bed obscenely late again.
-
Aug. 24
I woke up around 2PM.
Had technical issues but more notably there was a pretty loud/angry argument bro had with the Uncle about his negligent cooking and mess-cleaning leading to the kitchen sink being backed-up.
There was shoving involved. Fucked me up mentally for a good while, if I’m totally honest... I tried doing some Sides analysis and chatted for a distraction, before doing my exercise.
First, today’s DD. 40 scorpion twists with EC. A little less fun to do with a slightly full stomach. But oh well. I like the exercise well enough.
Last, Chapter 9 of the SbP. I was told to charge a couple more spells.
First had to be “Shield“. Variable rest times, today. I could feel the jitters start to melt as I went along, so that was more than welcome. Some ankle complaint noted from the jumping lunges, but at least it wasn’t very many of those.
Second was just any attack spell - I charged “Wind Blast“. Pretty variable rest here, too. Kinda didn’t want to do a lot of floorwork today - but I do think I hit the arms a bit harder for it. Still gotta be mindful of your elbows for plank rotations, too.
That helped dial down the jitters I was having for a bit... so did chatting and trying to sketch a fan art idea out.
But I still wound up pulling an allnighter because I was an anxious mess today... I didn’t really get much done other than some rambling on the fandom blog and watching YouTube...
-
Aug. 25
This morning I did some dishes, made a trip reservation, ranted on Twitter about sources of distress before taking a couple hour nap.
Spent most of day chatting and browsing stuff.
It was a bit late, but I did get in some exercise today.
First, today’s DD. 2′ single leg hops, without EC. Had to drop at 1′30″ mark, rested a few seconds to finish up. Only counted the the longer set’s reps - 120. Honestly, sleep-deprivation REALLY didn’t help.
Last, Chapter 10 of the SbP. Casted the “Shield” spell, though I’m not doing the probability check, the roll I got was a success anyways.
Then I was to charge & cast, “Healing Level 1 Spell“ again. Whoo boy... eating jalapeno poppers was NOT the smartest decision shortly before this. Gave myself some heartburn and coughing because of said heartburn. But I powered through that. :I
Then, I hit the showers and washed my mask. Browsed tumblr for a bit before hitting the sack. Happy but unsurprised by managing the yellow zone. Exhausted and I had somewhere to be tomorrow.
-
Aug. 26
I woke up around 11AM.
Went to Seeking Safety Group. Went alright.
Got home and spent some hours streaming/making that glitchy, hellish mash-up I did for silly reason. Also spent time chatting and browsing about.
Very late, but I managed to get in my exercise around 11PM, tonight.
First, today’s DD. 2′ side leg raise with EC (1′/1′). This was pretty breezy to get through. Get more out of this if you can make a right angle with side of hip to floor.
Last, Chapter 11 of the SbP. I was to charge and cast the “Super Strength Spell“. Variable to max amount of rest taken between sets, this time. Tried to make the push-ups decent. But it was pretty easy to get through this in a timely fashion.
Spent rest of my night doing Sides analysis stuff. Got to bed obscenely late... only saving grace was that it was before noon. :/
-
Aug. 27
I woke up around noon.
I spent most of my day chatting and doing that Sides analysis stuff (interpreting pairing platonically positively.) I wound up writing like 2.3k words on that instead of fic writing... woops.
Did my exercise late.
Spent vast majority of my day working on a positive analysis of all the Sides pairings [platonic intent], set to post tomorrow. Had a lot of fun chatting about it too. I wrote like 2.3k words on it... orz
First, today’s DD. 2′ O-Pose with EC. That definitely got me trembling the whole way through. Things got real after 1′ and legs started to feel like dropping in the last 20″. But I’m really happy I managed it. This is a personal favorite exercise. Very meditative!
Last, Chapter 12 of the SbP. I was to charge and cast the “Invisibility Spell.“ Max rest. The plank rotations were the hardest part - everything else was pretty manageable.
I did get to bed too late, almost in the yellow zone.
-
Aug. 28
I woke up a bit after 9AM.
I had to go to my psychiatrist appointment today. Went alright... got a chance to share that scary!Remus art with him. I did mention the acute shit that’s been happening... but also my more positive coping stuff.
Got home and when the Hello Fresh arrived - I did dishes and made today’s meal. Italian noodle soup. This was another chicken sausage based soup - pretty enjoyable. Bro liked the kale soup more. But at least I think it was more accessible for pops and his lack of teeth.
I was already tired at that point... but I had to help deal with kitchen sink problems I didn’t realize were an issue. Whatever the Uncle did to “fix“ the sink broke it and it was leaking the entire time I was doing dishes! Fucking hell.
Had to take another shower after that.
Active rest day, only devoted exercise was going to be  today’s DD. 40 raised leg circles with EC. Not a fan of neck strain. But doable. Just glad it was only that with my energy levels.
Got to bed later than yesterday.

Moon Phases in Astrology | pt. III
Hello! ❤️💕 I hope you’ve enjoyed the series so far!! ❤️💕 This is more uh.. astronomy. But here we’ll touch on how to identify the Moon in the sky + different methods, so you don’t have to rely on a chart if you’re just out and about doing things. Ahhhh I hope you like it! ❤️💕
Tumblr media
Moon Phases in Astrology | pt. I
*How to find: Moon Phase with a Natal Chart
Moon Phases in Astrology | pt. II
*Moon Phases: New Moon, Waxing Crescent Moon, First Quarter Moon, Waxing Gibbous Moon. Astrological Interpretations.
Tumblr media
Identifying the Moon without a Chart
Let’s get started!! ❤️💕 Identifying Moon phases from our eyes depends on whether we’re at the Northern or Southern hemisphere, or where we’re located technically! Even if you live in the tropics like me (hello!) here’s some methods to try out to help you track/identify the moon:
We’re all going through the same phase, whether you’re above or below the equator. It’s just the appearance of the Moon that’s different! ❤️💕
So this post is about identifying the phase visually if you don’t have a Moon app open!! ❤️💕
A few cautionary/myth busters if you’ve had no idea before. The shadow is not the same, so it’s never a universal thing to say ‘oh the left side is waxing, the right side is waning’
That’s to say, if you live in a certain region in the world and you’re talking to your friend in a different hemisphere, if you go ‘oh the waxing crescent is when the crescent is on the right!!’ this is not the same for your friend, who may have their waxing crescent be on the left/and or above/below instead.
If you live in the Northern Hemisphere (above the equator) the Moon waxes on the right side. Wanes on the left.
I.e. the part that increases in light (waxing) is on the right. The shadow should be on the left.
If it’s decreasing in light (waning) the left side is illuminated, while the right side is in shadows.
If you live in the Southern Hemisphere (below the equator) the Moon waxes on the left side. Wanes on the right.
I.e. the part that increases in light (waxing) is on the left. The shadow should be on the right.
If it’s decreasing in light (waning) the right side is illuminated, while the left side is in shadow.
There’s diagrams below don’t worry skskjsnsk ❤️💕
Tumblr media
‘Pinch the Moon a lil’ Method
(not.. not an official name... it’s just what I call it..)
> Try this method?
If put your right hand up to a C, doesn’t matter if it’s backwards. Put it against the moon in the sky.
If the part that is in the light curves into your C - and you live in the Northern Hemisphere, then it is increasing in light (waxing).
If the part that is in the light curves into your C - and you live in the Southern Hemisphere, then it’s decreasing in light (waning).
Here’s a little photoshopped diagram to show you:
Tumblr media
Do you see? ❤️💕 Because we use the right hand as the part that grabs the Moon. In the Northern Hemisphere, it waxes on the right. So you’re always grabbing the Moon if you use your right hand as the base.
Souther Hemisphere-er: feel free to use the left hand if you want!! ❤️💕 I’m just using the right hand as an example (to not get everyone confused!!)
Here’s some more diagram to lay it all down for you:
Tumblr media
Here’s for First and Last Quarter. Going by the same rule - for the Northern Hemisphere, the Moon waxes and wanes from right to left:
Tumblr media
And the crescents
Tumblr media
With the Crescent, you can see more shadow than the Gibbous so if you ever get confused -- remember that the Moon is a sphere, You can make an ‘o’ with your hand and then uncurl it into a ‘c’ again.
For Northern Hemisphere, stick to your right hand. If the moon cradles your palm (and is not on the other side) then it’s waxing.
For Souther Hemisphere, you can use your left hand if it’s easier. Again, if the moon cradles the palm of your left hand, then it’s waxing.
I hope this is helpful and not confusing skskjnsk ❤️💕 Anyways, ’m gonna pause here for a bit... a little interlude... a little bit more about... crescent moons for the tropical-people out there below ;) ❤️💕
Tumblr media
Hey, what if the Crescent Moon isn’t Left or Right?
Good question!!! ❤️💕❤️💕 Now with the Crescent Moon in the tropics, it’s a bit harder to identify sometimes because it can open upwards and downwards as well!!! ❤️💕
Not everything is left or right sometimes!! 💕❤️So we’ll have to add something here for us tropical-people to identify our Moon as well. 💕❤️
If you’re moving from somewhere that has seasons to the tropics, you’ll slowly see that the Moon is oriented a bit differently ❤️💕
Since the Moon reflects light of the Sun. If the Sun is above the Moon, the Moon’s crescent opens downwards (light shining ontop of the Moon’s surface, shadow below). It’s ‘brows’ (the pointy ends) should be pointing somewhat down.
So if the Sun is below the Moon in orientation, the Crescent opens upwards (light shining from below the Moon’s surface, shining upwards. Shadows above.)
Now, remember when we looked at the identifying the Moon phases with Natal Charts in part 1? At New Moon, the Moon is conjunct to the Sun. So when something is waxing, we’re moving from New Moon to Full Moon (Sun-Moon opposition).
That means if it’s waxing, the Moon should be moving past the Sun, it should be below the sun (remember that our chart moves counter-clockwise, 1H, 2H, 3H is counter-clockwise) -- the crescent, then, should be pointing downwards. So when the Crescent is at the Top - it should be a Waxing Crescent.
So like this:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Kinda abstract looking ;; But the Sun is above. And then do you see the top part being illuminated by the light? Since it’s spherical (somewhat) - one side of the surface is bound to be in shadows.
Then, if we’re talking about waning, the Moon is moving to meet the Sun, going to conjunct to it soon (moving towards it). Then the Moon (again, counter-clockwise, remember) -- would be above the Sun. The crescent should be pointing upwards. So when the Crescent is at the Bottom - that’s a Waning Crescent.
Excuse my terrible diagrams
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Does this makes sense ;; ?? 💕❤️ This kind of ties our knowledge of Sun-Moon chart and what we see together hopefully. At least a little bit. ;; ❤️💕
Another way to identify -- is to know that the Waxing Crescent rises in the West in the Evenings. While the Waning Crescent rises from the East in the Morning. There’s a timetable below for when the Moonrise and Moonsets (for each phases) -- but hopefully this is kind of helpful?? ❤️💕
Remember that it orbits around AND rotates on its axis, so it can be a little tricky.❤️💕 I hope this helps if you had -- like, zero idea before! ❤️💕
Tumblr media
Moonrise and Moonset
Another way to help you figure it out (whether it’s waxing or waning) is that the Moonrises and Moonsets at different time during it’s progression. That’s why sometimes you see certain Moon during the day, and sometimes you’re a little too late and the Moon’s already set at night!
The Moon doesn’t always rises and set when the Sun comes up and down. So here’s a little thing to help you figure it out:
The New Moon won’t be visible because it actually rises and set with the Sun.  The only illumination it may have is from earthshine, when the earth reflects light from the sun into planetary objects (i.e. the Moon) Remember that the side that’s illuminated is actually facing the Sun - so we won’t be able to see the Moon for a few days here :(
If you see the Moonrise in the morning (9am), peak around evening (3pm) and Moonsets around 9pm -- it’s probably a Waxing Crescent Moon.
The First Quarter Moon typically rises around the afternoon or early evening--  1-3pm. Then it peaks at around 6pm, sunset. Moonsets around Midnight (12am). Oof!
So now. Waxing Gibbous Moon typically rises around 3pm (late evening), peak at around 9pm and Moonsets around 3am at night. I’ll write a summary below -- but as you can see, the ones keeping you company most of the time are the waxing moons who do not have human obligations and can, therefore, rise and set in the afternoon/late evening and in the middle of the night.
The Full Moon is our constant, she’s here when the Sunsets and she leaves when the Sunrises. So naturally, she peaks at Midnight.
Waning Gibbous rises around 9pm, peak at around 6am when the sun is rising, and Moonset at 9am.  So already, you can see how waning moons are nightowls and prefers to stay till early morning before leaving.
Third Quarter Moon rises around Midnight (12am) peak at 6am and actually goes home at noon (around 1-2pm) - to differentiate between the third quarter and first quarter. Wait a bit longer till evening to see if the Moon is visible or not. The First Quarter rises at Noon and stays until Midnight. So if you still see the Moon at around 9pm it’s probably a First Quarter Moon who’s just rising!
Waning Crescent rises around 3am, peak at 9am and moonset at 3pm. If you put this side by side to Waxing Crescent -- if you check in the evening (6pm)-- you can see whether there’s a moon in the sky anywhere or not. If there’s a Moon -- it’s a waxing crescent (rise at 9am and sets at 9pm)
So to figure out the Moon’s Time Schedule, here’s a little helper for you:
Waxing/Waning Crescent: If you see a Crescent Moon at 6am. It’s a Waning Crescent. If you see a Crescent Moon at 6pm. It’s a Waxing Crescent.
First/Last Quarter: If you see a Quarter Moon around 9pm, it’s probably a First Quarter Moon (rises at 1-3pm, sets at 12am) If you see a Quarter Moon around 9am, it’s a Last Quarter Moon (rises at 12am, sets at 1-2pm).
Waxing/Waning Gibbous: If you see a Gibbous Moon at 12pm it’s probably a Waning Gibbous. If you see a Gibbous Moon at 12am it’s probably a Waxing GIbbous.
** Since some of us have seasons + daylight saving times, I’d say we should probably give/take a few hours as well. If say we’re looking at a waxing crescent, we know that it rises in the morning and sets before midnight. So that could be 7-11am depending on your region (loosely), or 7-11pm depending on your nights as well. Do you see what I mean? Cause sunrise and sunsets happens differently when it’s summer/winter -- so we take that into consideration as well. Daylight hours.
Tumblr media
Conclusion: How to Put Two and Two Together
N-E-S-W
This is just how I usually do it if I don’t have my phone app with me, but also just how I usually.. uh.. spend my alone time generally after-dark?
Now, because I’m outdoor a lot at night. I know I usually sit facing North. I have my chair faced directly North. I know this because I checked with a compass sjskkdfj but sometimes I see the Moon rising and setting on my left, on my right. In front of me, whenever. I like knowing which direction to look at when I look up from my writing and see the Moon.
This isn’t an ‘everybody have the same view’ thing obviously, like if you live in an urban jungle and do not have space to Moon watch, that’s very possible that you won’t see the Moon pass overhead most of the time. Buildings can often obscure our vision, so we don’t have access to see the Moon at all hours. So how do we know what phase/position the Moon is in?
So, I usually identify them by tracking their path across the sky? You can see that certain Moon travels, right now it’s a Waxing Gibbous at 12.52pm and it’s on my West. The Waxing Gibbous rises at 3pm, peaked at 9pm and sets at 3am. So it’s just about to set, or getting ready to - in a few hours.
If you combine what we’ve learnt together -- such as the moonrise and moonset, the moon phases. You can generally make a pretty good guess on what is happening and what position the Moon is in.
Let’s say hm, I don’t know the Moon phase. But I do know it’s 6pm and the Moon in front of me is North right now.
Let me draw a diagram:
Tumblr media
So its a little crappy but here. We have the Sun, when it’s facing the earth we have daylight. And the middle of the daylight is 12PM. On the otherside, when we’re not facing the Sun we’re in darkness. And in the middle of the night is 12AM. The position of the Sun relative to the Earth --  When it’s smack in the middle of the sky is 12PM - 12AM.
So. I don’t know the Moon Phase but I DO know that it’s 6PM right now. And i DO know that the Moon is directly South of me. I can see it in the sky.
Tumblr media
So that’s the first Quarter Moon. How did I get the Moon Phases? Well it’s relative to the Sun and the Earth/what we see right?
Here we have, New Moon: One face is directly in the Sun. The surface facing the earth is in darkness. That’s what we see. The New Moon. Void of Darkness.
The Full Moon, one face is directly on the Sun. And coincidentally that is ALSO the face we see. It rises and sets with the Sun. Thus, it peaks at 12AM/on the night side.
So. It’s 6PM, and our view of the Moon looking down (think cross-section) would be half illuminated and half in the dark. It’s a quarter moon. But which quarter moon is it?
The easiest way is to think about the natal chart, and because it literally is a picture of where the moon is relative to the Sun’s position (from earthbound pov)
So when I drew THIS diagram (the one above)-- the Moon is 90′ from my Sun. But it’s moving TOWARDS Peak Boy aka. Full Moon. We’re moving into darkness, not the other way around (we can’t move back towards 12PM can we?) So that means this is a First Quarter Moon. Does that make sense?
Another, more roundabout way to think about it is to consider: the Last Quarter Moon sets at 1-2pm. So technically, since we’re at 6pm. It’s already set. This can’t be the Last Quarter Moon. Thus, it’s the first quarter moon. We can track it with a diagram, just depends on what you want to think.
Drawing a diagram like this is like. A life saver. All you need to have is 2/3 information (i.e. moon phase, what time is it, or where it’s located in relation to North-East-South-West) to be able to figure out, or have a good guess, at what’s happening in the sky!!
Tumblr media
Time,  Moon Phase, Location in the Sky?
Now we’re gonna get a little into the nitty gritty.
So say okay I’m outside. I’m in the middle of the sea. And I don’t know what the time is right now. But I can see the Moon. What do I do?
I need two things, what phase of the moon do I see above? It’s a Waning Crescent/Balsamic Moon. And it seems to be rising towards the East right now
Here’s a little diagram to help understand the Waning Crescent (based on it’s time schedule)
Tumblr media
So if this is a Waning Crescent, when I see it in the East it would be during day-time, probably around 6AM-9AM. The Waning Crescent rises at 3AM - which is still dark, I can see it travel across the sky as it lifts up higher and higher.
I know peaks at 9AM and then sets at 3PM. By then, it would be making it’s way down, setting around 3PM which means the Sun is high in the sky by now. The Sun’s already reached IT’S peak at 12PM, so by 3PM it would be on it’s way towards the West as the Moonsets.
Does this help?? With like, navigating??
How do I know which direction is East and West? Well it’s usually relative to where you’re positioned as well. So check your compass, but also you can say the position in the sky seems to be ‘rising towards [[N-E-S-W]]’ or ‘peaked at . [[N-E-S-W]] or ‘sets at [[N-E-S-W]]
The Sun rises at East - where ‘East’ is positioned right now is at around 6AM (where the night turns into day see? because the Sun don’t move, but we do orbit around the Sun). Thus it goes in one direction (counter-clockwise) and if I know which direction I’m facing-- I can attune that in as well.
So say -- maybe I DON’T know what direction I’m SUPPOSED to be facing. But I DO know that there’s a -- Full Moon at 3AM my time today. How do I catch it/which direction should I make sure I have a clear line of sight of?
Tumblr media
So here’s the Full Moon at 3AM. I positioned it here because if it was 12AM (at it’s Peak) It would be directly in the middle of the Earth and Sun. Since we’re viewing at the Full View.
The Moon here is about the set- we know this because we know the full moon rises as the sunset and sets as the sunrise. Also remember that the Full Moon is a Sun-Moon opposition. Meaning that if it’s about to set - then it’s going into the West.
The Sun rises in the East. So in this example, as the Moon moves counter-clockwise (forward) towards the day-part of the diagram -- the Sun would be rising on the opposite side to it.
I hope this makes sense!! ;; 💕❤️ I’ll link the resources for this below so you can check it out!! 💕❤️
Tumblr media
Anyways!! 💕❤️ That’s it for part 3 of the Moon Phases series. I hope you enjoy 💕❤️💕❤️ Next time, we’ll go back and talk about the Full Moon + Waning Phases in astrology. I just thought this might be nifty to know and learn if you’re interested in the Moon and how to recognize it in the sky! 💕❤️I hope you had fun!! 💕❤️

A Day in the Life of Samantha Michelle, a Toronto-born DJ Who’s Opened For Mark Ronson
“About five years ago I plugged in my iPod at a party. Next thing I knew I was DJing, and next thing I knew I was playing Glastonbury at a secret garden party.”
Samantha Michelle’s life has taken her all over the place, figuratively and literally—studying religion and foreign policy at NYU, acting in plays and learning about European cultural history at Oxford, running a vintage shop in Toronto (where she grew up), writing and directing her own short films, and most recently, DJing at high-profile gigs and developing a female-focused film festival in New York.
“Opening for Mark Ronson for the Wall Street Journal at their Cannes Lions closing party was amazing,” she says of her favourite recent gigs, when I meet her over tea at a Toronto cafe. “I DJ’d at Drag on Queen here in Toronto—I got to open for a bunch of drag queens, which was really fun. I also work a lot with the Morrison Hotel Gallery in New York. I did a CBGB tribute show for them and Debby Harry turned up. I was like, do I play Blondie in front of Blondie? I think I should!”
Aside from DJing gigs, she has directed two short films (her most recent, In the Campfire Light, will be premiering at the Ojai Film Festival in California in November) and is part of the creative team behind Female Voices Rock, a female-focused film festival that will hold its inaugural edition in New York in October. Here, a behind-the-scenes peek at a day in her very busy calendar.

8am Every day is so different, which is one of the things that I love about it, but on average I get up around 8am. I live in New York now, but I’m probably only there about half the time. (I travel a lot and also come to Toronto around once a month, which is great because it’s where I’m from and I get to see my family and friends.) So I get up around 8 and usually go and get a coffee or a tea—I used to be a smoker but I quit smoking six months ago so I still need to go through the morning rhythm of the walk to just get fresh air, see what it feels like outside. I try to avoid Starbucks as much as I can; it’s nice to go to independent places. There’s a great place called Newsbar near me, in Greenwich Village, which I love. Then I get home and open my laptop.
9am I normally do about an hour or so of emails, phone calls, text messages, just catching up on stuff. As creative director of the film festival, I’m managing our partnerships, so I’ve been doing a lot of outreach to different women’s organizations through people in my network and the film world who care or can help spread the word. I’m also in post-production on my film which again is all really working from home—phone calls, emails with different people and the team. I like working from home because I’m on the road so much. I’d say most days I’ve not had a shower or put on any makeup until maybe 2, 3, 4 in the afternoon.

11am I typically work on playlists in the mornings. It gets me too excited—if I try to do it in bed at night I won’t sleep. I get really jazzed about it, so it’s something I’ll normally do in the mornings before I work out.
Noon After that I usually will go to the gym, or do a yoga class or do Pilates or something. If I don’t feel like working out I will go for a long walk and call my dad and he’ll be walking the dog in Toronto, and I’ll be going in circles around Washington Square Park.

2pm Then normally I’ll eat. I’m not a very good cook, but I’m a total creature of habit when it comes to food, so I’ll go and pick up an omelet from Grey Dog. I live really close to an independent equivalent of Whole Foods and they have big salads and stuff. Sometimes if it’s a slower-paced day and I have time to make a salad at home I will, but usually I’m just picking something up.
3pm In the afternoon I’ll usually have a couple of meetings. I tend to try and make my meetings in the afternoon as much as I can so I have an uninterrupted morning at home. For the film festival, I’m also working on amazing sponsorships so there’s a lot of back and forth emails, meetings and conversations with different write-ins and partners and people who want to join the coalition, and just managing all of those relationships.

6pm If I’m not DJing I usually see friends and I like to do stuff like go to the movies, go to the theatre, or go for dinner. My friends and I really like this place called Fish on Bleecker Street in the West Village. They do a really great wine and oysters special. I love ordering in too. Because I’m out so much, there’s something so nice about getting breakfast delivered to you at 11 o’clock at night (I often eat dinner quite late). I love the movies, I take myself to the movies all the time if I just feel like getting out. I love going to the theatre, that’s one of my favourite things. I recently saw this fantastic play called What the Constitution Means To Me which is a one-woman show about how the constitution has failed to serve and support women. It’s phenomenal.
8pm If I’m DJing, I’m pretty low maintenance when it comes to getting ready. If I spend more than five minutes on my makeup, I’ll just keep on putting on more eye-shadow or more blush or whatever, and then the next thing I know I’m like, uh, what happened to my face. And I hate looking like I’ve been too made up; it feels really un-me.
In terms of what I’m wearing, I’ll never make a decision until it’s five minutes before I leave the house. Comfort is really important, so I don’t wear shoes I can’t walk in or clothes that are too tight. I never want to feel like I want something to be over, just so I can be comfortable again. I love super tall shoes but I won’t wear high-heels that are flat under the toe, because I just feel like I’m going to fall over. So wedges were life-changing for me. I think my style’s quite ’60s and ’70s-influenced, so I like big tall wedges, silky flowy things, colourful things. I like things that are a bit androgynous, like a pantsuit. I have tiny boobs, so I take absolute advantage of it and wear crochet tops and dresses strategically pinned together with safety pins.

9pm I make a really conscientious effort to make sure that at least one night a week I just have no plans and hangout with myself and do whatever I feel like with myself, usually it means sitting on my sofa eating vegan ice cream and watching TV. I wander into a different space creatively in the evenings because I’m not getting people texting and emailing me. So this is the time to write, and work on scripts, and read and just dream things up in my head.

Hi guys!
I recently made a post about my experience at New York Fashion Week a few weeks ago and if you haven’t read it yet, visit the post here. For my last show of the season, I had the opportunity to borrow a bag from the brand Dooz, which is co-founded by Rachel Borghard and Mia Kazovsky who graduated from Pratt Institute Fashion Design. As a Pratt student myself, I felt that this collaboration was meant to be! I borrowed the Pisces Céleste Bag in lime green for the Hogan McLaughlin show. I talk more about how I met them and how I style the bag in an article on their brand blog called The Scope. The article is called A Day in the Life of a Pisces – Sophia Kountakis and I go through my experience during Fashion Week, explain makeup tips, and show how I style my outfits. Read the article here. I am super proud of this and I am very thankful for getting the opportunity to borrow this adorable bag and have an article published.
An excerpt of the article is below along with photos from the shoot I did with the bag.

A Day in the Life of a Pisces – Sophia Kountakis
The morning of Saturday, September 7 is my first day attending NYFW. As a fashion and beauty micro-influencer, I am fortunate to attend a few fashion shows – something I’ve always dreamed about. I have my outfits planned out and the makeup looks to go with them. I am a Pisces, so naturally I gravitate towards sea and ocean-themed everything. My look for today is blue and green with neutral hues to balance out the colors. I recently found out my ascendant and moon signs are in Scorpio, which means I’m all water!
9AM – I wake up nervous – I have a lot to do before my first show at noon! First order of business:  take photos for a Glossier giveaway and post it to instagram. I’m currently a Glossier Affiliate, which is super exciting because it’s a goal I have been working hard to achieve. I love what Glossier stands for, “Skin first, makeup second”, and I totally believe in that. I purchase a lot of Glossier on my own, so it’s nice to receive a small amount of revenue when people purchase through my links. I create weekly tutorials on Insta-stories and occasionally post tutorials on IGTV.
10AM – So, let’s get into it! I do a “Get Ready With Me” makeup tutorial via Instagram stories to show how I coordinate my beauty look with my first outfit. I use eyeliner to create a graphic blue shape that comes across my crease. My pro tip: draw small lines while looking straight ahead at the mirror. Don’t move the skin around your eyes or tilt your head too much, this distorts angles of the liner. If you have hooded eyes, draw over the fold of the eye while looking straight to create a continuous wing. I always ground my arms to a desk for stabilization and just take my time. If I mess up, I clean it with concealer or a Q-Tip.
Now, back to the outfit… My dress is from COS and has a blue and green watercolor print. My heels are from Marais USA and my bag is a pale blue Mansur Gavriel Lady Bag. My earrings are also pale blue and they are made from polymer clay from the brand Kitsu. In other words, I am a living, breathing, water sign for the first show – how Pisces of me.
11AM – I finish getting ready and head to Chelsea to see the Nolcha shows. As a creative person, it completely fulfills a part of me to witness design, fashion, and humans come together to create a piece of work that can be seen, touched, and interacted with.
12PM – The show starts! This particular show was from a Chinese designer. It’s so fascinating to see fashion trends from other countries because they see fashion through a completely different lens.
12:15PM – After the show, I go outside to take photos of my outfit with my trusty photographer, aka my boyfriend! My boyfriend is a fellow Pisces, and I feel lucky that we get to create images together. We see each other’s direction and he understands my vision for an outfit, while pushing me to try different things.
2PM- Finally back at my apartment in Brooklyn to eat a late lunch.
3PM – I get back on Instagram stories to transition my makeup for the next look. I fill in my eyeliner to create a very thick, blue, graphic, winged eyelid. I apply cobalt blue eyeshadow with a small flat brush and carefully fill in the lines from the eyeliner. I do this until the shadow is about half way through my lid, then I add some iridescent white eyeshadow and blend it with the blue shadow so to create a gradient across my lid. I touch up the rest of my makeup from the morning by going over it with some foundation powder to take away any oil or creasing. Simple as that!
4PM – I change into my next outfit, which is much more simple and sophisticated. My top is very formal and completely hides my figure. I love how fashion can distort the human body.
5PM – I head to the Target 20th Anniversary Pop-Up on the Upper East Side. Target brought back all of their designer collaborations from the past years, so I went shopping for some Missoni items.
7PM – I rush back downtown to Pier 59 to attend my last set of shows for the night at Oxford Collective Design Studio, where multiple designers show their collections at once. There were six different small designers, and the outfits were interesting and simple.
9PM – Dinner date with my boyfriend at Boucherie, a French restaurant, where we unwind, drink lots of wine, and reminisce about the busy day we had!
Sunday, September 8 is my day of rest. I really need some downtime to refuel my energy and collect my thoughts.
Monday, September 9 is my last day of NYFW!
9AM – I wake up and plan my outfit for the day. I want to wear something dreamy with a simple cut. When researching designer Hogan McLaughlin, whose show I’ll be attending tonight, I learn that he designs a lot of long hems and simple cuts. To compliment his aesthetic, I choose  a simple, long t-shirt dress and pair it with some red croc-embossed boots for a fun pop of color.
Now for the fun part – makeup! I want to create a natural, feminine look for today. I start with a pink shadow for the base of my eyelid and then layer a shimmer shadow on top. I love shimmer tones in all colors and intensities because they make anyone’s  eyes pop!

10AM – I head to pick up my Dooz Pisces Céleste Bag, which I’m borrowing for the show tonight! I’ve been eyeing this piece for a while – I love its lime green color because it matches all of my ensembles for the weekend. I meet up with Rachel and Mia, the co-founders of Dooz, at Cha Cha Matcha and I discover that they are Pratt Institute alumni. I’m currently a grad student at Pratt, so I think to myself, “this was meant to be!” We discuss our day, get to know each other’s zodiac signs, and talk about the show I am attending tonight. I can’t wait to showcase this bag!
12PM – Lunchtime with my friend. A creative mind has to eat!
2PM – 5PM – Back at school and time for my studio class at Higgins Hall, which is where all the architecture students  design and construct. Right now in studio, we are doing research for a civic center. This year is the experimental studio, so we are diagramming our research instead of presenting it as a written survey. My professor is currently living in Switzerland, so we Skype call him for class – gotta love technology! The session is very quick, but we have lots of corrections to make before next studio class on Thursday.
6PM – I rush back to Manhattan to catch the Hogan McLaughlin show at Pier 59! I love every single outfit that comes down the runway. The collection has structure, color blocking, geometric cuts, and different materials pieced together. I get to meet some influencers I follow on Instagram and I even come face to face with Kelly Cutrone in the second row! I take photos of every runway show I attend because I find it  fascinating to capture the movement within a split second.
7PM – Home and I cook myself some pasta to reward myself for a long weekend.
10PM – Ahh, bedtime at last! A Pisces needs to sleep well in order to take on the rest of the busy week.

CALI TRIP 2018
So after the craziness of living in a rental all Summer 2017 into beginning of Fall, then staying with my sister and her husband in Orlando until October when our new house was ready to move into. For those of you that actually read my blog, you would know most of my California trips take place around September, but this was all postponed. By the time we moved in and got settled it was the Holiday season and I knew I wouldn’t be able to visit then...But I had an idea of when a good time to go was right after the Holidays...I booked my trip (In October) for my annual week trip to California for end of January 2018! Perfect to start off the New Year!
Now my plans for my trip was the usual Photoshoots for my online magazine with my friend and photographer Ken...BUT I had to also work my trip around attending my favorite Talk Show “The Real”! The one thing I knew for sure was I was planning to attend the show at least two days in a row. Everything else time wise was planned kind of last minute with talents and availability.
DAY 1: MONDAY, JANUARY 22ND 2018
As my trip started getting closer I got more and more prepared and everything started coming together! I was so excited to get back out there with kind of skipping a year I was so ready! Getting up at 4:30am was so worth it all! My dad and I headed to the airport around 5:30am. We got there just in time to grab a quick bite (Yay for Chick-Fil-A!). Went through security and made it onto my flight (One of the last ones! LOL!). My flight and times always seem to be the same exact flights so flight left Tampa airport around 7:20am. As soon as we took off started by keeping busy with music and reading the beginning of my book (The Hunger Games, yes I am little behind!). A few hours in I decided to start watching a movie, “Gifted”. Was a great movie I had wanted to see for awhile (Thanks Delta!). Tried to rest my eyes but definitely couldn’t fall asleep knowing the week full of plans! 5 hours later we landed at LAX! Walking off the plane I felt super excited for everything to come! I picked up my luggage at baggage claim and made myself comfortable in one of the chairs in the airport for a bit. It was around 10am so I had a bit of time to kill before my friend was going to pick me up from the airport. Around 10:30am I headed to the restroom to change into my Rising Talent Magazine Shirt and refresh before heading out as I had something super amazing and a special opportunity that literally had come up the night before my trip! As I got myself together, I reflected back to my 2016 trip to Cali and other trips each has been so different and this one was going to be just as unique and fun! So around 11:30am I got picked up and we headed to our first destination on location for a very special meeting with an young and upcoming Actress Mackenzie Hancsicsak, who many would recognize as “Young Kate” on the NBC Hit Series “This Is Us”! Yes, we were headed to their on location set! We got to our location a little after Noon...We ended up heading to eat lunch in the local mall before meeting. Mackenzie and her mom were willing to meet us in between during lunch hour so we although we didn’t have much time we fit in as much as we could in a short amount of time. Walking up into the trailer meeting Mackenzie and her mom was a special moment. I started out interviewing Mackenzie right in her trailer coming up with questions in my head. We then headed outside to snap a few photos of Mackenize for the cover. Many trailers around set we used it as a Behind the Scenes look and went with it. Walking around us were some of the other young talented actors from set, Lonnie Chavis and Parker Bates. We said hello and introduced ourselves in between our photoshoot. After we finished, we ended up talking with Mackenzie’s mom for a bit before leaving after 2pm. We headed to my friend’s house for the night to get ready for the long days ahead and went from there. Just relaxing for the night, I got prepared and confirmed everything and plans for the next day.
DAY 2: TUESDAY, JANUARY 23RD 2018
Well, part of this day and the next deserve its own blog post so I won’t go into too much detail here... Although I didn’t have to be in LA until 10:30am. We still left pretty early to be prepared for traffic etc. Couldn’t be late to what I had most anticipated 2016 trip, this trip and probably for every trip for now on. I was able to get tickets to my favorite talk show The Real. More details in my next blog post about the show itself and my experience at the show a 3rd and 4th time. After the show I had a planned Photoshoot with two young talents and at an outside location Grififth Park and the Travel Town Museum. Wasn’t too far from The Warner Brothers Lot that I was at for the talk show, so it worked out perfect. After 3pm we had set to meet. I was meeting Actress Shae Smolik who has been part of many movies among other projects and Singer Kacey FiField. We started out by taking photos and behind the scenes footage at The Travel Town Museum which had many trains and scenery that was perfect and different for my magazine. We then headed not far off to Griffifth Park for a few more photos and to film the interviess. Was super fun and loved meeting a few of the talents that I had been corresponding with for awhile online. Shae had recently taken over my Instagram to go behind the scenes of a movie she was filming on her last day with the movie. So when we finished it up was around 5pm and we headed back to my photographer and friend’s house and headed out to dinner with his wife and family. Was a long day but we made it work and I was super excited for another very jam packed day the next day, Wednesday.
DAY 3: WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 24TH 2018
So this day was pretty similar to my Tuesday although it was kind of flipped, LOL! We started with Photoshoots at around 9am so we getting up at 6am was a must to make it out to LA at the right time. We were headed to the LA Skyline area for a few photos with a different a feel to them than we usually take. I again had set up two young talents at the same time. One was a talented Dancer Bella who I had come to know through Instagram. I had promised her next time I had come out to California I would meet up with her for some photos. The other young talent was Actress Scarlett Fernandez who is well known from ABC’s Soap Opera “:General Hospital”. I was super excited to meet Scarlette being I have watched GH since I was a teen and love Scarlett’s character. My photographer and I had grabbed a hot coffee before our long morning and met up with the young talents starting out with the interviews. Bella was first then came Scarlett. We then headed over to the LA Bride and Skyline to start taking photos for the feature. I had to finish before Noon to make it over to the Warner Brothers Lot for me to attend Day 2 of my favorite talk show, The Real. I would have gone everyday if I could but couldn’t make it happen. We said our goodbyes and I headed to Burbank to the studio . I was super excited to attend the talk show again I don’t even think I ate much LOL! Again, I will elaborate more about my second day attending The Real in its own blog post I promise as soon as I finish this one! Once I got out of the show it was pretty late and we headed back to my friend’s house. We two headed out for a quick bite and took in everything that had happened the past 3 days. I couldn’t believe it was Wednesday. Half way through the week already. Time definitely flies when you are keeping busy and having fun. When we got back to the house, I was actually relieved the next two days was just more relaxing for me and to prepare for the busy weekend planned before I left the next Monday.
DAY 4: THURSDAY, JANUARY 25TH 2018
So I definitely tried to sleep in knowing I had no plans but I couldn’t help to think my trip was half done with already. I actually took the time to go through the photos from the Photoshoots we had done so far during the week by organizing and editing some on my own. Took half a day to organize it all but I felt much better afterwards. I then did some catching up on some of my daily shows like yes, the talk show I attended, The Real. But first I had to watch a full day of my Soap Opera, General Hospital. I knew I would feel much better knowing when I got home I wouldn’t have to sit and watch a week’s worth of two different shows from being away.
DAY 5: FRIDAY, JANUARY 26TH 2018
So again Rest Day 2 was definitely more relaxing. I set aside the whole day to catch up on my talk show, The Real. I even made it to that present day episode which happened to be one of the ones they filmed that I attended earlier in the week (More about that in my next blog post). I couldn’t help but to look back to earlier in the week when I attended that episode and smile. I deifnitely appreciated my two days of relaxation as my 2014 trip I ended up catching a bad cold and wasn’t up for much. I felt this was much needed and a way to clear my head from the rush of everything all week. I prepared for the next day knowing we had a ton of shoots planned a a new studio Saturday.
DAY 6: SATURDAY, JANUARY 27TH 2018
Our plans for the day consisted of four Photoshoots at a local studio. The talents weren’t set to show up until around Noon. We headed to the studio to get there around 11am to start setting up as we had each shoot planned with a theme. My friend and Photographer was super excited to use his Bentley for a few shoots and was the first thing we got in place (Of course we drove it there!). As he was setting up around 11:30am my first talent showed up, Kirsten Denina, a young Dancer who had won a contest I held through Instagram over a year ago. It was so great to FINALLY meet her! She came all the way from Vegas and was so patient in waiting for me to come out to California so I can meet her. She brought her winning item which was a Diva Dolly Light Up Makeup Case from an awesome company I have been collaborating with for a few years now. When Kirsten got there we started right away with her interview and she had even worn her Rising Talent Magazine Shirt she purchased last year from me. Once interview was finished, and we had set up for some basic shots in front of a white background, Kirsten was ready. Around 12:30pm the next talent showed up, Actress Ava Cantrell who I had been corresponding with her and her mom for a few years now. She showed up early to prepare for the shoot. Kirsten started her photos around 1pm and we would switch in and out with Kirsten and Ava. I slipped in an interview with Ava before she headed for some more photos. Around 1:30pm, Dancer Tiana Heaton had shown up for her 2pm slot. I had been talk with Tiana and her mom through Instagram for over a year through a project I had her do for my magazine, so it was super great to finally meet her in person as well! She too had a Rising Talent Shirt so she slipped it on to start with. I filmed her interview in the shirt, and then we headed over the background to do a few photos with the RTM Shirt and Tiana. In between we were working with Kirsten and Ava as well. In between all of this, last minute I was able to get Scarlett Fernandez and her mom to stop by for a few quick studio shots, since most were done in the sun and outside the first day. I am so glad Scarlett was able to make it to the studio (the studio photos came out gorgeous!) Soon after, a very talented Singer and our last talent set to come showed up Ruby Jay. Now Ruby and her mom had made plans to meet during my 2016 trip to California but it hadn’t worked out, so here we were making it work this trip! We got right into photos with Ruby and once finished we topped it off with an interview and a little bit of singing from Ruby. Did I mention each talent had at least two outfits they took photos in? Since Ava and Ruby were introduced to each other had become friends and Ava happened to still be there we all decided to head to a late dinner. We all decide don Lazy Dog a place I had gone to my last trip following another shoot. We all chatted and hung out for hours probably from 5pm to after 8pm. After making our way outside, we talked for a bit longer and ended up not heading home until after 8:30/9pm. By the time we got home, I think I would say the longest days of my trip we were beat. Many photoshoots in such a short amount of time. Realizing I only had one more full day left of my trip to California I was trying to stay positive and keep my mind off heading home.
DAY 7: SUNDAY, JANUARY 28TH 2018
So this Sunday was something that came up last minute as well but I was super determined to meet two talented kids that I had been following on Instagram for a few years now. Kelei who had worked on a dance project for my magazine had recently moved out to Californiai, so I was super excited to work something out with her! Dancer Kylee Paige another young adorably talented dancer who I had also promised I would get together with for some photos the next time I came out. Before our scheduled time to meet both of them, around 1pm...My photographer and I met up with a talent and Actress Casey Burke well known from ABC’s “The Middle” for a little Mexican Lunch at a place I had been to my last visit. Super fun to get to know Casey who had done a few studio photos with my photographer but I definitely wanted to meet up to feature her on the cover, so we made it work after over a year of waiting LOL! So three more photoshoots to end my last day in California. At 1pm, we met up at my photographer’s work place for some awesome photos on some train tracks with all three of them. I started with Casey doing an interview right in the conference room. Then came the two girls and we took a few fun photos for memories and then headed out to start the photoshoots. I think it was around 3 or 4pm we finished with the shoot and I went back in to finish up the interviews with the two young talents. Once we said our goodbyes, it was time to head back home. Once we got back to the house, I immediately started to organize the rest of the photos from the last few days onto my flash drive and edit what I could. around 7pm we headed back out to pick up what I just had to have before leaving California, can you guess it? In N Out! YES! Couldn’t leave without it! Came back to the house, only to still work on the photos. I love looking through what went on throughout the week and all the amazing work my photographer and friend does to help me out. We always have so much fun and take in every opportunity we can. I think it was already around 10 or 11pm when I finally finished with what I felt I needed to do before leaving the next day.
DAY 8: MONDAY, JANUARY 29TH 2018
Although my flight wasn’t until 10:30am, I again had to leave pretty early around 7:30am. I arrived at the airport a little before 9am. I printed out my boarding pass, turned in my luggage, went through security and then looked to grab some food. I am not really a breakfast person, so I grabbed a sandwich and headed to the seating area where they board. I was all set to go home, but truly did not want to leave. How fast my trip went by was probably the craziest part. Getting on the plan to get my mind off heading home, I quickly turned on a movie, “Home Again”. I think little by little I started tearing up because I knew this trip was over. Reflecting back each of my trips out to California have been super different but each one also has been really special in their own way. Every time I got to book my flight for my next trip out to California, I always feel unprepared, but as I get closer to the date everything always seems to work itself out. Trying to make plans with talent ahead of time isn’t always the easiest schedule wise but again things always seem to work out in the end. I even have a few talents set up for my next trip (Cross your fingers it all works out!)! Landing and meeting my dad at the Tampa airport I was super quiet, tired, overwhelmed. When I got home, I immediately unpacked and tried to catch up on a few shows before heading to bed.

Week 2 + Advent Calendar begins.
-
Nov. 30
I woke up a bit before noon. Past few days, I’ve been sliding out of sensible sleep habits a bit. But I hope to not keep that pattern indefinitely.
I spent much of my time up on the usual, putting up the XMAS tree with bro, and exercising.
First, today’s DD. 1′ leg raise hold with EC. As with many holds, steady breathing is key. Definitely got to trembling near the end, too!
Second, Day 7 of the KMC.60 double turning kicks, done in one set of 30/30.
Third, Day 7 of the DHC. 2x10″ dead hang. Still a bit tough, but I tried to be more mindful of my grip. So there wasn’t as much tension in upper palms and was a tiny bit more comfortable.
(After doing some plans for this next month...)
Last, Day 7 of the DGC. I’m grateful:
That I’m able to donate to DAREBEE again.
Of the progress I’ve made with my fitness journey.
Of the moral support that DAREBEE has given to me.
I then spent time doing dishes, making dinner, and drawing before getting to bed.
-
Dec. 1
Bleh. Got up a bit before 1PM, today.
After some YouTube and some shopping, I went for today’s exercises early.
First, today’s DD. 50 squats with EC. Not much to note, other than this was pretty fun and doable.
Second, Day 1 of the 2019 Advent Calendar Challenge. 2′ squat hold. I had to split it into 2x1′, with a bit over 30″ of rest. Did think about one-shotting it - but my quads and mind just didn’t have the juice for that. It was no less brutal. orz
Third, Day 8 of the KMC. “6 balance kicks side& turning both each leg, no putting your foot down.” Like last time I read this like 2x 6 balance side kicks + 6 balance turning kicks (one side, then the other). The switch up was wobbly, even if I was on my dominant side for second half - but I managed to keep it together (honestly one of the harder parts of balance work, in general). Super fun!
Fourth, Day 8 of the DHC. 35″ dead hang. Experimented with grip. First false start involved proximal phalanges running parallel with ground. Succeeded w/ first knuckles pointing at ceiling. Former is less stressful for the palms but requires more overall strength to hold on. Latter relies on some palm traction to aid grip strength. But it definitely stresses the soft tissues a bit. Thankfully - these sessions are pretty short and sweet and allows for recovery time.
(After a bit of planning for stuff.)
Last, Day 8 of the DGC. I’m grateful:
That our dog exists in our lives. She’s just too damn cute.
That I’ve learned how to use Excel as well as I do... I love data and schedules. (But like with everything, my knowledge is not exhaustive.) :I
That I’ve always been a curious person.
One of the last few things I did before sleeping was more art stuff. Still, didn’t get to bed at a reasonable hour. :P
-
Dec. 2
I think I woke up at roughly the same time as yesterday.
Been doing some shopping and had an anxiety spike about transportation stuff. I don’t feel like rehashing everything here.
Did some dishes, made some dinner (hunger admittedly was a big factor in said episode), and did my exercise.
First, today’s DD. 20 hop heel clicks with EC. This was fun after some fried nerves earlier. Pretty doable. :P
Second, Day 2 of the ‘19AC. 1′ raised leg [full] plank. I was able to manage this in one set, today. It was a bit tough on a full stomach, though.
Third, Day 9 of the KMC. 2x 40 turning kicks + 40 side kicks. I shortened the rest period to ~30″ and mixed up the format between the sets. 20/20 + alt vs alt. + 20/20. Had to get in the right flow to do alternating turning kicks, I wanted to make sure to care about my knees.
Fourth, Day 9 of the DHC. 2x10″ dead hang. Pretty doable - shoulder was a touch annoyed - but not lastingly so. I realize I may have to do some arm/shoulder warm-ups before getting on the bar, going forward.
Last, Day 9 of the DGC. I’m grateful:
That my bro will take me to tomorrow’s appointment, it was a last minute thing.
That I could afford to try FocusMe for the first time. If I like it enough after a year, I may get a lifetime license. :Ic
That I can afford to get people some gifts this season.
I then wound up staying up FAR too late downloading a lot of music via Spotify. Like. Past 4AM, despite knowing I had an appointment tomorrow. orz

Dec. 3
I woke up in a rush by about 9AM. I didn’t expect that I had a trip reservation set up fro the day - but I did.
Got to the facility, went to Seeking Safety group, my therapy appointment (not as prepared as I would have liked), went to the diner, and chatted it up until I had to get back home.
Once home, I watched some YouTube.and went on a few errands (bought myself some hummus and picked up some meds) Then did my exercise a bit later than intended.
First, today’s DD. 50 slow climbers with EC. This was pretty challenging, especially due to not enough sleep. I did make the effort to have the drawn in foot to touch the floor, to keep the pace slow. As opposed to pumping the legs and hopping from foot to foot.
Second, Day 3 of the ‘19AC. 1′ raised leg hold (from knee plank). Very manageable to do in one go.
Third, Day 10 of the KMC. 80 turning kicks (40/40), in one workout. I technically did it in one go. A bit more tiring due to not having enough Zs last night.
Last, Day 10 of the DHC.40″ dead hang. I was a bit hesitant, but warming up the arms beforehand was a good call. Steady breathing, man. Also, I think I did far less swinging this time (was never so much to destabilize the bar) - progress!
I forgot to sit down and work on the DGC, though. But I spent some my time watching my bro play some games.

Dec. 4
I woke up barely before 2PM. Bleh.
So after some more YouTube, I went into my exercise for the day.
First, today’s DD. 20 stacked push-ups with EC. Form wasn't amazing, but acceptable. :P
Second, Day 4 of the ‘19AC. 30″ superman hold. Managed also to do this in one go, despite my stomach not being the most happy about it.
(After watching a few documentaries and doing some dishes... “Man’s First Friend” brought me to tears.)
Third, Day 11 of the KMC. 80 double side kicks. I did it more or less in one go, bounce-switching with each rep. The fatigue definitely made the last few a bit more challenging to coordinate. But it was just about doable!
Fourth, Day 11 of the DHC. 2x10″ dead hang. Did a bit of warming up beforehand, Shoulder complained a bit - but still very manageable.
Last, Day 10+11 of the DGC. I’m grateful:
[For] dogs. Just. Dogs, they are too good for us.
That I had a chance to eat hummus again after long swathes of not being able to to eat it. It’s so delicious.
That I have a roof over my head.
I was a bit too distracted and had a lot of trouble coming up with more, before needing to get to bed.

Dec. 5
I woke up early, unsure if I had a reservation for a ride set up. I didn’t. Which was kinda nice.
Spent a few hours watching documentaries and YouTube with pops, before getting into my exercises..
First, today’s DD. 40 knee-ins & twists with EC. The quads definitely felt the fatigue build up, but doable. :P
Second, Day 5 of the ‘19AC. 1′ bridge hold. This was relatively breezy with steady breathing.
Third, Day 12 of the KMC. “8 balance kicks side& turning both each leg, no putting your foot down.” Manageable, if a bit wobbly again.
Fourth, Day 12 of the DHC. 45″ dead hang. Despite doing a warm-up, I had to split it into ~30″+15″ (~30″ rest). For some reason, I had trouble keeping my grip. After it all - my digitorum muscles were thoroughly fatigued (like how that PGC, ).
Last, Day 11 of the DGC. I’m grateful:
For the unsung heroes of the service industry.
For the perspectives I’ve learned about in my time.
For the perspectives I hope to be able learn about in future.
I guess that I won’t be doubling up on the DGC. That’s fine. But maaan, I’ve been sliding with my sleep habits again. =_=

Dec. 6
I woke up a bit after noon. :/
Spent a few hours watching YouTube before getting to my exercise.
First, today’s DD. 20 push-ups + jab + cross combos with EC. (The hidden burpees just about wiped me out, but I could still get through it. Only part I liked was the punching, pffft!
Second, Day 6 of the ‘19AC. 5′ arm raise hold (frontal). I managed to get through it in one go, but the fact my arms weren’t fresh after the DD, made things quite brutal! My eyes definitely got to watering in the last minute or so.
Last, Day 12 of the DGC. I’m grateful:
That this challenge is well... challenging. It feels to be more valuable/profound for it.
To the the book, Resilient Grieving“. I feel I should review it’s material more often, however.
For the joy of listening to my favorite musicians (such as Infected Mushroom, to no ones surprise.)
I then more or less spent some time working on some drawing again before getting to bed... rather late. :P

Going to go and post this now and draft the next week.
