I'm thinking about the reunion scene at the pool again. One thing I love about this scene so much is that Matteo does not try to tell David that people won't be transphobic assholes. I know cis people who would claim that everything will be fine and noone will be shitty. Matteo doesn't do that. Matteo isn't saying "No, that won't happen" when he says "No, it won't" in response to David's "It'll be the same again". When David says "They're gonna laugh at me again or ask how I pee or have sex", Matteo doesn't say they won't do that. He says "Yes but now I'm here!". He agrees that that might happen but David won't have to go through that alone. Because he's here. He's right there with him and when people are being assholes, he'll have his back. There are people at school who have his back now. I just. I really appreciated that.
