Cleo's VA may have taken a while to get into it, but she was so good in the scene with her mum. Could hear the frustration leaking out of her.

#doctor who #doctor who redacted #yes I'm almost a week late listening to this but Life existed alas #I have vague thoughts about how redacted brings more rtd vibes with the working class stuff specifically #not sure how clearly it comes across to non brits but accents can be really clear class indicators #so that works in combo with the references to stuff like the powell estate to basically build up a clear inner city working class vibe #as a backdrop before specific stuff is addressed in the dialogue? #but mostly I'm just vibing with the eps and see which dw references I can spot rather than trying to figure out how cleo's dad links in #anyway! the stuff with cleo and her mum where her mum went for the 'oh you went off in a strop' is like yikes #because they weren't listening to each other and it was getting heated but basically the first thing her mum did was to deadname her #so even if the kicking out was somehow a misunderstanding (and I'm wary of making that call) #it's still super clear that there's more than one reason why cleo wasn't comfortable at home
