I feel like 2012 Raph would like and genuinely respect Rise April.

All it would take is one glare from her with her bat and her saying, “Disrespect me or my brothers, and I’ll bust your kneecaps” and 2012 Raph would be grinning, “I like their April, she’s violent!”

And then ensue their violent shenanigans of them running into battle kicking ass with no self-preservation whatsoever.

Hi yes, another person here to talk about rise Donnie/apriltello? Yea another, I’m sorry if you’ve got a lot of these

With that out of the way, I agree with you. As someone that loved 2k3 Donnie it was weird to see this kind of character change. I wasn’t a huge fan of 2k12 Donnie but that’s not terribly relevant except for the core aspects of Donnie being kind and compassionate. I wish rise Donnie had had some actual character development. Like mind meld shouldn’t have even happened after Donnie’s gifts?? Literally ends with “you guys are perfect the way you are” LIKE???? (Purposely dumbing the others down was grating every time they did it)

Witch town was AWFUL! He was terrible!! But I don’t think the admission of why he hated magic was manipulative. I can definitely see how it would be seen/feel that way tho. I don’t think manipulation was his intention. She directly asked him why he had such a problem with it and he told her.

But I definitely don’t think he’s that good of a friend. They’re obviously close I can’t deny that, but I also think that she’s closer to raph on the sidelines bc she’s older! Older sibling solidarity (I think I saw somewhere that April was 16? And we know raph is 15) and in that one scene where drax kidnaps her the shot changes to raph calling her name, not Donnie. (Is that a stretch? Probably)

Donnie needed real character development. He is compassionate we know that but with his lines about being the “Emotionally unavailable bad boy” it makes me think that he’s not really that and just trying to cover that up. Which he does, because he also has a combined superiority and inferiority complex that gets in the way of literally every thing in his life

When it comes to apriltello specifically, honestly I’ve just never been a fan of it with any iteration (especially 2k12 holy fuck that old fast and was not done well)but I don’t really mess with ships and don’t bother people about it
