#Kylia Watches Supergirl

Maybe Hindsight is something, but I'm watching Season 2 of Supergirl again, and I agree there were fundamental flaws in the basic construction of how they chose to use Mon-el (and I still don't ship Karamel), but... what he actually does? The way the story uses Kara and Mon-el? Their relationship? It's really good, and it's as much, or even more about showcasing Kara, and her strengths and depths and how she changes Mon-el, as it is about Mon-el and his development.
There was so much screeching about Mon-el back when season 2 was airing, and I always knew it was silly, but I forgot just how silly it was.

I actually kind of like that they don’t have Maggie really reconcille with her parents, because that’s how it happens in reality all too often.
Like, reconcilliation stories are good and hopeful and we need those too, but yeah, we need stories where reconcilliation doesn’t happen and people move on.

1.  if you could reboot one TV show, which one would it be? The easy answer is Agents of SHIELD.  Except, I’d re-do most of the story post-Season 1.  I wouldn’t even cast the show differently, just write the story lines in a different direction.  But that’s a subject I’ve bitched about enough.
4.  are there any shows you wish could just be cancelled already? As I just answered for Kylia, not that I can think of.  But I might think of one later.
6.  which shows do you think are underrated and need more love? The Code was seriously under-loved.  It deserved a lot more than it got from viewers and the network.  8.  do you prefer week-to-week content, or just binging all in one go?
That’s kinda hard.  But ultimately, I like the option of binging it all.  I like setting my own pace.  Sometimes I can watch an episode or three in a night, sometimes I need to take a few nights off.  So I won’t really binge it all in one or two sittings, but I will watch faster than weekly airings.14.  do you tend to stick to one type of TV show (eg, short-form comedy), or are you into many different genres?
I’m into a lot of stuff.  I tend to watch more 1-hour dramas, but the genres within those vary quite a bit, and I watch quite a bit of other stuff as well.  I looooove Call The Midwife, but I also get totally jazzed about Arrow and Supergirl.  And I can watch Community or Friends or Brooklyn Nine Nine pretty much anytime.  Broadchurch is some of the best tv I’ve ever seen and Lost is a weird but amazing sci-fi-adjacent character study and From Dusk Til Dawn remains one of the more extreme things I’ve watched and yet really enjoyed.
20.  Netflix, Hulu, or Prime originals?
I love originals on all three.  I probably have watched many more Netflix originals than Hulu or Amazon.  But I have enjoyed almost all of what I’ve watched from each of them.TV Show Asks

I've said it once, I'll say it again, having Olivia Marsden be an alien born on another planet was a really, really dumb choice. Alien or not, she's not a natural born US citizen, and like it or not, that's the fucking law, and it needs to be followed. And her hiding it from everyone just gives fuel to every anti-Alien conspiracist anyway.
It's just a thoughtless decision made by writers who just wanted to have a twist,

Cat Grant failing so hard at her hamfisted attempt to negotiate peace with Rhea brings me much joy. Because the woman is so, so very out of her depth there and I'm glad she made no progress.

I think Snapper went too far in the other direction, but he wasn't wrong about the reason to not publish the story. On the other hand, Kara wasn't entirely wrong that publishing the story was a good idea.
Its definitely a bit of damned if you do, damned if you don't. Which is a situation reporters find themselves in a lot.

I'm all for the basic notion of Supergirl's broadcast saving the day and all, but I still think the specifics of how it worked in the Season 1 finale were lame as fuck.
Then again, it *is* a Super-person show, and we all know I have mixed feelings about the Supers.

I'm glad we got gay Alex, but I have to admit, there was real potential in Lord Danvers. It could have been a fun ship.

What I like about what they do with Mon-el a lot is that, no, he doesn’t get to save Kara by beating the bad guy for her. Rather, he lets himself get used as a punching bag for the bad guy while Kara recovers from the body blow she’s gotten, and then Kara gets back into the fight.
I may not ship Karamel, but damn is that a nice dynamic for a show like this.

the thing that gets me is that there is every reason to have Kryptonite in storage. between the possibility of evil Kryptonians, alternate universe evil versions (Overgirl, anyone?), Red Kryptonite or other ways a Kryptonian can be turned evil temporarily, having some regular Kryptonite on hand is just good sense.

If kara’s mom was alive this whole time, why did she never go to Earth?

Sometimes it seems obvious Lena doesn’t know Kara is supergirl, and sometimes it feels like Lena is deliberately needling at Kara with details that would have special resonance with Supergirl.

Lena doesn’t know Supergirl. not really. She knows Kara Danvers, but that’s it.
