You know something that bothers me about Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas these days? A story about how Christmas isn’t about the commercialization but about the heart has become commercialized.

There is so much merchandise of it now, like sweaters, socks, two film reboots that perhaps don’t even need to exist, and then a live musical show of it! There’s even a balloon at my job that says “Merry Grinchmas!”

Um, I understand that the Grinch has become a very popular holiday character but don’t these people see how it goes completely against the message of the story? The Grinch is meant to be that grump that tries to ruin the holiday for everyone, all because he doesn’t enjoy it. Are these people buying the merchandise trying to say that they want to steal a beloved holiday? Are they saying that they want to be like Scrooge then?

Please tell me it’s not just me noticing this?

roman was incredibly loud, and at times, obnoxious. they were friends, yes, but during times when they’re not trashtalking each other for fun, marco is trying his best not to cover the other boy’s mouth with a sock. it was all these qualities that helped marco in choosing out his gifts for grinchmas. using a burner phone, he invited roman to a nearby pub, revealing himself as his secret santa without mentioning his own name. once roman arrived, marco stood up from his seat near the bar and waved at him. “merry christmas,” pushing a mug of beer towards roman, he grinned. “as your secret santa, i’m going to get you shitfaced." and then, out of nowhere, marco threw his own drink at roman, doing so little to even make it seem like an accident. “oh shit, oh no, i ruined your shirt.” his tone monotonous, he reached behind him to pull out a very unique christmas sweater. “it’s a good thing i had this christmas sweater with me! now you have no choice but to wear it.” he shrugged, the smile on his face evolving into a wicked smirk. “merry fucking christmas, roman.”
