I am awake and feeling very good. Alas it did not snow last night so it looks like I am still going to work, but some good news has arrived.

I came downstairs this morning, once again nothing on the news, and stuck the kettle on. About 5 minutes ago the mail arrived, some bill or other, junk mail and a hand-written letter. I disposed of the junk mail in the bin, put the bills on the side and went into the living room to read the letter. I recognised straight away the handwriting, it was from my girlfriend Katherine. I realise i have not yet mentioned the fact i have a girlfriend as i did not think it necessary to record it in my own journal. However for clarification she has been away for the past week attending an arts festival in Cumbria, and has been staying with my Grandma. The contents of the letter are as follows;

Hey,

Sorry I haven't been able to contact you, the phone signal here is aweful and you never answer the house phone anyway so i figured id just send you a good old fashioned letter.

The arts festival has been amazing but i wont bore you with details of it now, I just wanted to let you know i'm fine and should be home around Saturday tea time. Hope your week has been okay and you haven't been working too hard.

P.S Have you seen the news??

I smiled as i folded up the letter, Its good to hear from her, i have to admit i completely forgot about her these past few days, but i wont tell her that obviously. Its interesting that she too has been keeping track of the news, i wonder what she thinks of all this.
