Lillymon maybe?
Tumblr media
Lilimon!!!! Lillymon in the dub!!!
Lilimon’s a Perfect-level digimon originally slotted as the final form of Palmon in the first Adventure series, for which it’s probably best known. It was one of the earliest examples of digimon getting more humanoid as they evolve, though the trend hadn’t yet gotten ubiquitous enough to be annoying, and ending on a fairy creature felt cool and appropriate for a plant-themed evolution line. And it’s a pretty novel fairy, too!
Tumblr media
Usually, fairies in modern media tend to basically be humans with some insect-inspired features – most commonly insectoid wings. What Lilimon does though is take that premise and make it 100% plant oriented, with a set of dragonfly-esque wings made out of leaves, along with a slew of other botanical features. A flower-shaped dress, flower and leaf accessories, and a flower for “hair” along with a bunch of thorny vines for even more hair. The color scheme is also really pleasant, too! Very evocative of spring. Lilimon also has a slight monstrousness to it as well, with sharp claw-like nails and the dark animalistic eyes.
Tumblr media
By far the weirdest aspect of Lilimon, though, is its primary means of offense: turning its hands into a gun. Called Flow Cannon or Flower Cannon, this ability kinda thematically clashes with Lilimon’s whole nature motif, but it’s also conceptually hilarious enough that it wraps back around to being cool. Characterization-wise, its profile explains that it has a whimsical and “tomboyish” personality and is prone to “crying like a crybaby”. Okay.
Tumblr media
Lilimon also has an X-Antibody form, which is….very forgettable honestly. The art style changes far more than the design itself does, with Lilimon more or less getting just a slightly different outfit. The main additions are the giant bow on its back and the small tiara, which it apparently wears because “it knows it can be the best of itself”. I’m glad at least you’re feeling good about your new design, Lilimon. It’s also said to lightly dismiss even the most horrible of enemy digimon, though its crybaby tendencies have given way to full-blown tantrums. They’re really trying hard to make Lilimon sound unappealing to interact with :v
Tumblr media
Regardless, Lilimon’s a classic. Although its vibes aren’t something I’m especially into, it’s a concept I definitely appreciate. Thankfully, there is a Lilimon form that does do something dramatically different, in addition to totally abandoning the other two forms’ crybaby tendencies: Bancho Lilimon. I’ll save it for its own review, though, since it is an evolution.
🔫🌻/10.

Jyoumi Challenge Day #29: Time Travel
Ok, so, two things:
a) this is time travel in a more nebulous sense
b) major spoilers for Last Evolution Kizuna, so I won’t talk more about what this piece entails, and will put the whole thing under a read more.
This is one of the ones I was waiting to get to for a while, and I hope you all enjoy it!
For a few moments, it seemed as if the air in the Digital World had a light fog spread across it all. Not enough to obscure his view, but enough to cause a knot to tighten up in the pit of Joe’s stomach and give him the feeling that something was suddenly wrong. His thoughts had been focused on that (as best as they could be right now, given how fuzzy his mind felt, too) until he felt Gomamon’s flipper knock on his head.
“Joe! Are you even awake?” his Digimon partner asked, to which Joe quickly blinked a few times, looking up to the seal.
“Huh?”
At that point he heard the giggling of Mimi and Palmon, the sounds quickly bringing Joe’s gaze to the two of them, a soft smile on his face as he looked at the girl.
“You’ve been zoning out! It feels like we’ve been talking to you forever and you haven’t been saying anything! How else am I going to try out all my new jokes?” Gomamon added, hopping off of Joe’s shoulder in front of him, looking up at his friend, who started to look around.
“Oh, uh… sorry. I guess I just felt like I was in a fog or something,” he said, now looking up into the sky.
“Weird, I was feeling kind of like that a few minutes ago…” Mimi said, tapping her chin.
“Are you ok, Mimi?” Palmon asked as a worried expression came over her face.
“Oh, yeah! Now I am! I just think it’s because we’ve been walking for a while!” Mimi chirped, offering her own Digimon partner a reassuring smile.
What neither of them could tell, past the fog that Joe could currently see and the fog that Mimi had seen not too long ago, was that the fog wasn’t just some weired weather occurrence of the Digital World, but a way to dull and distract their minds. To lead them to believe that it wasn’t currently 2010, but that they were back in 1999, within their second trip into the Digital World.
What Mimi and Joe didn’t know was that just past the bright blue sky they were looking up at was Never World, trapped within one of its infinite islands, and with Tai and Matt just outside fighting for their freedom— as well as the freedom of every other DigiDestined who had their consciousness stolen by Eosmon. The two adults were trapped in their own memories, to a blissful (if scary) time when they were just kids. Kids who had their whole lives ahead. Kids who didn’t know they would lose their partners soon enough.
Kids who would remain in the best times of their lives and would never have to worry about anything bad. In the world Menoa had set up, they would never even have to worry about the Dark Masters. Just Joe, Mimi, their partners, and a life together forever.
Even with the situation they believed to be at hand, one the two kids knew to be dangerous with massive risks to their lives, they couldn’t help but be happy for some reason, smiles on their faces as they walked along the mountain path.
“We’ll stop the Dark Masters, right?” Mimi asked, the three others looking over at her.
“Of course we will. I mean, there’s still three left, but once we get some reinforcements, it’ll be no problem,” Joe nodded.
“Yeah Mimi! Plus you got all of us! I think once we start taking them down one by one, it’ll be no sweat!” Palmon said, throwing her arms in the air.
“You’re right!” Mimi said, smiling wide, “And we got Joe and Gomamon, too!”
Joe blushed, but Gomamon flexed a flipper, “She’s right, Joe! Make me Zudomon, have Palmon become Lillymon, and we’ll trounce them all!” he said, causing the group to laugh thanks to the Digimon’s bravado.
“That’s the spirit!” Mimi chirped happily.
Joe was still a soft red, but he laughed along with the others, “Yeah, you’re right! I don’t think we have anything to worry about!”
“We won’t ever have anything to worry about,” Mimi said suddenly, the words tumbling from her tongue as if on instinct. They had her freeze suddenly, stopping in place, Joe bumping into her, nearly causing the two to fall over.
“Mimi! Are you ok?” he asked, holding onto her and steadying himself so they didn’t tumble. He looked at her with furrowed brows, worry lines etching onto his forehead.
“Mimi?”
“What?” she asked, head suddenly whipping to face him, hair flying.
“Are you ok?” he asked again, peering at her curiously and carefully.
“Oh, yeah… my head just sort of… felt foggy for a second,” she said, Joe bringing up a hand to her forehead.
“Do you want to sit down for a moment? We have been walking for a while…” he said with a frown. Mimi nodded, and Joe led her to a nearby grassy patch under a big, shady tree, the group of four sitting down, Mimi leaning against Joe.
“Thanks… I’m not sure, its like when I said that, my head felt weird,” she sighed.
“I mean… you are right, though, everything is going to be fine. We have each other,” Joe assured her.
And within the real world, they had said that to each other plenty of times throughout the years: if they had each other, things would be fine. It was a realization that came to them in their teenage years, after all they’d been through and after getting through it all together, both the big and small.
So when Joe said that, both of them went deathly silent, staring off into the distance. The feeling of familiarity lingered in the air around the two kids, though a cold chill compared to the warmth that it would bring in most other cases.
“You guys are moping way too much!” Gomamon huffed, “You keep acting like something is wrong, and the only thing wrong is that we haven’t stopped the Dark Masters yet!”
“Yeah! And then we can go back to having fun!” Palmon chimed in.
“Yeah… it would be nice to just… have fun here. We haven’t had a chance to actually do much of that since we got here,” Joe said.
“Either time,” Mimi added.
They looked at each other with smiles, the idea of being able to not have to worry about saving the Digital World, but instead relax in it, sounding perfect. All of them able to stay there until summer ended.
Maybe even longer.
The shouts from their friends made in hopes of reaching out to all the DigiDestined weren’t heard, and Joe and Mimi remained in their little dream world, stuck in those blissful memories still.
“We can still stay here for a little while longer, right?” Mimi asked the Digimon, who looked at each other, then nodded simply, Palmon moving to sit next to Mimi, leaning into her like her partner was doing to Joe, and Gomamon hopped onto Joe’s lap to flop out and enjoy the shade and cool air.
“Do you think we’ll be able to defeat the rest of the Dark Masters?” Joe asked, voice quiet and filled with a fear that wasn’t present in him just moments earlier.
“We have to, yeah. We will,” Mimi said, swallowing hard, “We’ll get all our old friends from the Digital World together, we’ll team up, and we’ll beat those nasty Dark Masters.”
Joe nodded slowly, a small smile gracing his features, “Yeah, yeah you’re right.”
Mimi gently patted Palmon’s head, before holding the plant Digimon close, while Joe absently scratched at Gomamon’s stomach.
The silence was all that they needed, not to speak needlessly, but to have each other’s company and presence was perfect. And to be in a peaceful situation made it even better. Little did they know, there was, for once, no danger lurking behind every bush and under every rock.
“I’m glad you’re here with me,” Mimi finally said, breaking the long quiet that had taken hold of them, “It wouldn’t have been the same with anyone else.”
Her words were sudden, and Joe’s eyes went wide as he stared at her, jaw dropped, absolutely dumbfounded.
“R-R-Really?”
“Yeah. I just know I can trust you. I know you’re there for me.”
Butterflies swarmed deep in Joe’s stomach, the boy clearing his throat hard, trying to not seem too awkward when that was all he was feeling at the moment.
“Of course. I mean, you’ve become one of my closest friends,” he admitted shyly, unable to look at her. He wrung his hands together nervously, swallowing hard.
“Me, too,” she said with a smile.
Joe went quiet for a few moments, before smiling to himself, “Well, I’m glad we have each other, then.”
“Me, too,” she laughed. They had become close in such a short amount of time, that for each of them, their presence was like a comfort.
Before either could say more, though, there was a distant whistling sound, one that caused all four of them to look around in confusion.
“There aren’t cicadas in the Digital World, are there?” Joe asked, craning his neck around as he stood up.
“I don’t know what those are, so I don’t think so,” Gomamon said as he scaled Joe, settling on his shoulder to help look around.
“Aren’t those those loud annoying bugs that woke us up that one time, Mimi?” Palmon asked, Mimi nodding.
“Yeah! Ugh, if they’re in the Digital World, too, then we need to find somewhere else to hang out!” Mimi pouted.
The whistling became louder, all-encompassing, and soon it was all they could focus on.
“You don’t think its one of the Dark Masters, do you?” Mimi asked, voice filled with worry as she looked around frantically.
“I— I don’t know!”
Their Digimon soon stood in front of their partners, assuming fighting stances.
“We won’t let anything happen to you guys!” Palmon shouted.
“Yeah!” Gomamon piped up.
However, the whistling got even louder than before, as the Digital World around them started to turn into bright, stark white.
“Joe!”
“Gomamon!”
“Palmon!”
“Mimi!”
“Joe!”
“Mimi!”
Eventually, the light faded away, revealing the crystalline landscape around them, shallow water stretching out along the distance. The sounds of fighting, explosions, blasts being shot could all be heard. The two young adults slowly stood up, trying to adjust to the sudden headaches they were feeling.
All around them were different DigiDestined, from their friends to ones they had never seen or met before, in some strange place. Mimi looked down at herself to see herself in an outfit far different than her former signature pink dress. She turned to see Joe, not the young boy she had just been with, but the man she had spent so much of her life by his side, a sigh of relief falling from her lips.
“Mimi!”
That familiar voice flooded into her ears, as he frantically ran over towards her, Gomamon running along behind him. Joe held onto her shoulders, panting heavily, eyes wide as he looked at her.
“Are you ok?”
“Yeah, yeah I am,” she said quickly in hopes of reassuring him. “Are you?” she asked, relieved to see him nod.
“You were there too, right? We were both there? In the Digital World?” she asked, now bringing her hands to his shoulders, needing to keep hold of him for comfort and to help ground her.
“Yeah… I think it was those Eosmon that Tai told me about… They must have trapped us in that fake Digital World…” Joe explained.
The two looked around them, watching Tai, Matt, their Digimon, so many people now fighting the legion of Digimon that had kidnapped so many DigiDestined, then looked back towards each other.
They each pulled out their smartphones, both silently relieved Izzy had upgraded them so long ago, letting go of each other and facing forward, ready to fight. Their Digimon were already at the ready, starting to glow.
“Gomamon Digivolve to…!”
“Palmon Digivolve to…!”
“Ikkakumon!”
“Togemon!”
Their Digimon were already firing off attacks against the mass of crystalline Digimon, the expressions on Joe and Mimi’s faces nothing short of fear. Fear at the thought of losing such an important fight. Of failing the world.
However, even that looming thought couldn’t stop Joe from speaking.
“That… was nice, though. For a little bit.”
“It was. Getting to experience the old days,” she said, a soft, if sad smile on her face.
“Yeah. Hearing from each other that we were each other’s best friends was nice,” he nodded.
“I meant it then and I mean it now… or… also, then.”
“Me, too,” he told her, causing the both of them to smile. Right after, they turned to their Digimon.
“Go! Ikkakumon!”
“Kick their butts, Togemon!”
The time they got to spend in that little time capsule was nice, but the most important thing were all of those years they got to spend together since then, once they defeated these Eosmon, all the years they’d continue to have together.

Digimon Adventure 2020, episode 12 reaction (and over-analysis)
This week, the Digimon remake of “Laputa, Castle in the Sky”, except with a more focused narrative. And somehow something so antithetical to what the show has been thus far ends up being one of its best episodes.
An interesting thing in this episode: twice, we saw Guardromon compare the Mimi he was watching with a picture of her in his archive. Both times, the picture is of her sweetly smiling, completely relaxed, and the reality is of her terrified and confused by the violence around her.
It’s been something that’s building up in the background, I guess. It’s not that Mimi is completely against fighting, but the current situation where they have to fight or otherwise they’ll die (as opposed to the Tuskmon or the Gesomon situations, where it was her choice to get involved) is overwhelming to her. The episode stresses a lot of things about Mimi. She takes charge when Palmon is confused about what to do, she’s quick to assume the best out of whoever she meets, refuses to leave Palmon and run when Andromon is about to attack her (in fact, by how her body is positioned, she’s shielding Palmon from the attack), doesn’t ask for help unless she knows the person she’s with doesn’t mind helping her. All in all, the episode emphasizes all of Mimi’s good traits, and then contrasts her with all the violence Soundbirdmon and Andromon bring, a violence both Togemon and Guardromon claim they will protect her from but fail. And it hurts, and it should hurt.
While this episode borrowed a lot from Studio Ghibli films, it aimed to make them more than just reference and actually use them for their narrative. The ancient technological marvel, starting to decay, buried underneath ancient ruins, is obviously a direct lift, but one that works very well in the context of the Ancient War that looms in the background of the story. It’s implied several times that Andromon, Guardromon and the entire factory have far more history to it than the children and the audience can ever know. Soundbirdmon doesn’t come from outside, it was already in the factory to begin with. The episode identifies all the metal of the factory with death, decay and violence, contrasting it with the healing and peace of nature, yet also makes clear that it doesn’t need to be that way. This is the most alive the world has felt so far, the most filled with history. In short, aesthetically it’s the best episode of the series thus far, with only episode 9 and it’s high-octane atmosphere competing.
When the insert song started playing during MetalGreymon’s evolution, I was worried Lilimon would be once again overshadowed in her debut, much like in the original Adventure. What happened instead was the complete opposite. The same contemplative OST from the episode recaps was played instead throughout her evolution and fight with Andromon, and it fits perfectly, additionally making her stand out even more than if it were just the same song that will play in every episode. It makes perfect sense that a normal action scene won’t be a fulfilling end to the story of violence breaking into Mimi’s life (which is why MetalGreymon can’t win), so of course Lilimon will mostly dodge, Andromon’s weapons completely useless in the face of her. Of course her final attacks won’t physically destroy Andromon, but subdue him, pacifying him for a last moment (enough to restore him to normal, enough for us to see that there was more to him than we thought) before burying him in a coat of nature, temporarily becoming the same death and decay that Andromon symbolized. Lilimon says that it was not just Mimi’s sorrow but her anger that brought her forth, and it feels as if something has been lost. That she does not turn to look at Palmon when she asks if she’s okay is intentional.
Additional thoughts on the episode:
The scene with the Birdramon group was great. We see Sora worried about Neamon’s group, and how everyone else reacts to that. Gomamon is the first to ask (because he’s paying attention to the group), Birdramon already knows what’s on her mind without needing to hear it, Gabumon gives practical advice that doesn’t really address what she’s feeling, but Yamato does address it, showing himself far more empathetic and likeable than in the entirety of last episode. Jou’s sadly just comic relief.
Taichi and Agumon climb down the shaft by holding onto random ledges and hoping they don’t fall. Tentomon just grabs Koushiro and flies down. Tells you everything you need to know.
Koushiro’s computer is starting to malfunction. Wonder what that’s building up to.
MetalGreymon’s evolution sequence was great, and the most interesting thing about it is the Mugendramon shape that surrounds him. Is this foreshadowing something?
Koushiro went weird in the Digimon Enciclopedia section. He wants to smell Palmon when she’s angry or happy? That... okay... okay...
I get why Andromon repeated the “Eliminate” line constantly and agree with the reasoning, but they overdid it.
I don’t know if this is my favorite episode so far, but it’s definitely in the running, along with 1, 6 (Mimi’s introduction), 7 (Jou’s introduction) and 9 (Ogremon’s fight). It’s definitely my favorite of the Perfect-level evolution episodes so far. I probably liked Taichi’s and Agumon’s arc in episode 10 better (if only because bond-based evolutions are so rare in the franchise), but when taken as a whole I far prefer this episode.
Next week, Sora gets involved with the Royal Base of the Beemon line. Hopefully it’ll make up for the mess that was her previous episode.

U for the ask thingy ;)
U - Three favorite characters from three different fandoms, and why they’re your favorites.
Oh this is a good one! Thanks for asking!
Yosuke Hanamura from Persona 4: He’s a lovable goofball with a lot of issues that I relate with, and he reminds me a lot of myself, especially of myself from when I was in high school
Mimi Tachikawa from Digimon: In Adventure, Mimi is a girly, whiny brat, which were both the kind of people I despised when I was her age, but were also characteristics I saw in myself that I hated. Once I realized that, she became my favorite. She also has some of the best character development in the series, imho. Plus, I *love* Palmon and her whole evolution line. In this house we stan Mimi Tachikawa
Viral from Gurren Lagann: I am such a sucker for a good villain to ally to friend story. I also love that he continued to have the feral cat-shark demeanor and aesthetic and didn’t ever really change that, just changed his priorities. And plus he’s hot.

Applimonsters Saturdays: No Musimons, No Life!
We come to our fourth Appmon of the week, and with that, we come to the end of the initial four characters from the anime. But today, we’re not just doing Musimon, we’re doing his whole troupe!
Tumblr media
See, just like Digimon, Appmon loves its recolors, and Musimon is the only one out of the main quartet to have any of them in the form of MCmon and Dancemon. Since Appmon get only one day out of the week, I figured it best to cover any variations under the same banner, whereas with Digimon most recolors will be handled separately.
And for the record, this kind of thing was the basis for one of Appmon’s best running gags:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Musimon - Entertainment Type | App: Music Attacks: Music Hour, Happy Playlist
A musician whose motto is "Music Changes the World". The music it creates moves with great force the hearts of all who hear it. - Translation by Wikimon.
Musimon’s inspiration is obvious: he’s a music player Appmon. iTunesmon if you will. Spotifymon. Googlemusicmon.
He’s also the only Appmon in the main four aside from Gatchmon that has absolutely no direct callbacks to an original Digimon. The unusual ears as hands are sort of broadly similar to Terriermon, but aside from that, Musimon is his own animal. He’s designed to be cool and trendy looking, and he’s sort of got a 90′s “mascot with attitude” thing going on, though the anime would play him more as a well meaning sweetheart sort of character.
For an Appmon wearing so much, his design doesn’t look overly busy, and everything fits well enough to feel natural. Even the “speaker armor” he’s wearing slots in well, and I like the added touch of the note-shaped tail and the note lines on his arms.
Musimon manages to feel “classic” without being based on a classic Digimon character, partly because a character based on playing music is such a no-brainer for a show like Appmon, and partly because of how well executed he is. Gatchmon gets...
Tumblr media
FIVE STARMONS!
Tumblr media
MCmon - Type: Navi | App: Broadcasting Attacks: Soul Shout, Live Crisis [Jikkyo Crisis]
A talented speaker who has poured its heart and soul into commentary. Anyone who listens to its heated commentary will exhibit above-average power, even those who are otherwise feeling unmotivated.
Musimon’s first recolor is MCmon, who switches from being an Entertainment Appmon to one centered around navigation and live-event commentary. This is a pretty easy and natural way to repurpose the Musimon design, and the addition of the sunglasses and microphones give him a bit of his own identity. Appropriately enough, the big “M” on his forehead keeps from being a huge design artifact thanks to his name.
Most of the Appmon recolors would put a bit more effort in than their Digimon counterparts, either by just reusing the basic silhouette or skeleton of a design and adding completely new details, or giving them accessories in addition to new categories. MCmon falls into the latter category.
MCmon gets...
Tumblr media
THREE STARMONS!
Tumblr media
Dancemon - Type: Game | App: Rhythm A born dancer that cannot resist dancing the moment it hears music. It dances even in battle, using its music-fists that grow stronger the more it gets into the groove.
Dancemon, meanwhile, is a Game Type Appmon, and is specifically themed around rhythm games. His design does just as much to try and set himself apart with the baseball cap and the addition of the little fangs, but I don’t think it stands on its own as well as MCmon does. With his name change being different, the “M” on his head just sort of stands out as not really fitting, and honestly they could have removed just a few lines to make it not as much as an issue.
That being said, his stock artwork at the beginning of he post showing him using his ear-arms for breakdancing is a pretty natural fit.
Dancemon gets...
Tumblr media
TWO STARMONS!
That’s all for this week! Join us next week when we cover Palmon’s evolution line, the Human Spirit of Thunder, and a certain offline game Appmon.

Tri Loss Reaction/Review *SPOILERS*
Okay I watched Tri Loss, and here is my Review/Reaction if I have to call it something. so. SPOILERS
lets start with the poster elements
Edit: I forgot to add the “read more”, Sorry D:
Sora/Yamato/Taichi: I was so worried this was going to be fanservice and fuel to the shipping war, but it wasnt. I loved what they did to this relationships, they showcased how close they are, and how strong they friendship is. This is why I like about Sora and Taichi, their frienship, I must say im a sorato shipper, and I love that while Yamato is clearly her romantic interest, and while she and Taichi tried, they still friends, and the Taiora friendship is important to me because no many times you can see a male female friendship in media that doesnt involve them having romantic feelings.
Hououmon and Biyomon/Sora: this was so sad, seeing how their bond was gone and the impact of it had on Sora. And then add that practically the other digimon stay the same was really hurtful to watch. All I can think about was the parallel with Sora and her mom in adventure, and how her mother must have felt. and finally, her evolving into her mega, and kinda understanding the meaning of partner was nice.
Bakumon/Himekawa and the Original Digidestined: HOLY SHIT. She and Daigo were part of the ORIGINAL DIGIDESTINED! THE ONES EVERYONE WAS WONDERING ABOUT! (This totally destroy the theory that the Frontier kids were the original digidestined, im kinda sad because I liked the idea) AND THEY FAIL? I dont know, yeah, Bakumon was killed, but somehow never made back to the Village of the Beginnings?? maybe because he was used to seal the Dark Masters? and when she finally gets to meet Bakumon again after the reboot he doesnt recognize her, and the reaction was so sad. and yes, I do still believe that she isnt a bad person, she just wanted to see her partner again and worked all her life to get to it, on a side note, Daigo asking Maki out was so damn cute! and BTW, Was Daigo the Gogglehead????
Gennai: HOLY SHIT, the tonge thing was so great, disgusting and great, I can only hope the kids save him and he is so embarassed of that. I really hope we can get to see him being a good guy again.
Yggdrasill: I wasnt expecting this, I dont think Yggdrasill is a bad thing, it is doing what it thinks its better for the digital world, but with Yggdrasill in play. where the Royal Knight fits into? and Hackmon? Why is he working for the Homeostasis?
Homeostasis: Im glad this thing is back, the Homeostasis remind me of the Truth from Fullmetal Alchemist. lets see who is the true god of this digital world, Yggdrasill or The Homeostasis.
Meiko and Meicoomon: oh god, why? really, what is the point of them being here? I dont care about them, I waited and waited for them to have more backstory, but nope, Willis have more backstory than them. I was waiting for one of them to be killed, that would be interesting to see, a human dying, I mean, Oikawa died, what we didnt get to see the impact on the kids... partially because was at the end and because most of the story he was a bad guy. but think about this, Meiko dying, when she is considered by the others as one of them, and then, Meicoomon loosing all control at her partner death.
The others kids/partners: I love it, a fresh start, something knew but still feeling familiar, I love how, even when the digimon didnt had any memories, they felt the connection to the kids, I have to talk specially about Izzy/Tentomon and Joe/Gomamon
“Maybe this is for the better”: I loved when Hikari said that. because with Gatomon losing her memories, how she was abused by Myotismon, how she felt empty her whole life untill she met Hikari, and most importantly, her memories of her best friend, Wizarmon, even when I think its really sad she doesnt remember having him in her life, I think its better for her not having the scars of his death, I think Wizardmon would have loved it.
“Am I Pretty?”: this line, this line killed me, I cried at this line. Because it was what Lilimon asked Mimi right after she evolved, and Mimi answered, something alond the lines of “you always were”. This was a strong moment back then, because this meant that Palmon always believed her to be ugly, to be less than Mimi, and maybe unworthy of being her partner, after all, Mimi was pretty. and now, Mimi having the oportunity to start all over, her making sure Palmon never feel that way in this new life, speak a lot of her, and how much she grown from adventure.
Our War Game Parallel: this was when Yamato and Taichi were drowning, like when Wargreymon and Metalgarurumon were “dying” in Our War Game, Taichi and Yamato jump in to save their partners. this time Taichi and Yamato were the ones dying and Gabumon and Agumon jumped to save them, even when their bond wasnt strong, but deep inside them they knew, and that act was what trigger the warp evolution to WarGreymon and MetalGarurumon.
Seraphimon: I was glad to see him again, BUT! I was waiting for Takeru’s reaction to Seraphimon. Why? because Hurracain Touchdown, If Takeru woud have been suprised to this evolution would have mean that he never did see it before, making Hurracain Touchdown not canon, so making Willis (one of my favorites) not canon to the Adventure world. but he didnt react to it at all. Izzy did react, but he wasnt there when Patamon evolved before so of course it was the first time of his seeing Seraphimon.
Now the next poster leak for Tri Symbiosis/Union. It shows Meiko and Hikari, what seems to be Meicoomon’s mega and Ophanimon Falldown Mode, I dont know what the fandom thinks about it because once im done writing this i will go into the tag, Im doing this because I want to have my own opinion and not being modified with others, so lets put this first, I always were pro Ophanimon for Gatomon’s mega. Why? Because it fits the story better, Takeru and Hikari were always treated as a pair, for better or for worse they did. Angemon and Angewomon were the angels that allowed the mega evolution in the first place, their crest are special and kinda mean the same. they armor evolution are Pegasusmon and Nefertimon (and btw, are we gonna see them in tri? or the 02 kids?) they are pretty similar and have a team attack. and then having their mega not following this, seems really odd. and you can see Magnadramon evolution in two ways, Gatomon didnt had her Holy Ring, so she evolve into Magnadramon instead of Ophanimon. and the second, at the time of the movie, Ophanimon wasnt even a thing (Ophanimon was introduced in 2001 and Hurricane Touchdown aired in 2000), so they went with what they had, Im pretty sure if Ophanimon was already introduced by that time, we would have had her instead of Magnadramon. And no, Im not against Magnadramon at all. but, when the movie that proved Gatomon’s mega seems to not be canon at all (see Seraphimon above), well... IDK, and dont came with the games, because how many times the games do not follow the anime?. and for what we know, Ophanimon Falldown mode only evolve from Ophanimon. and if Ophanimon is a side evolution, I want to see Goldramon as Sephimon side evolution. and what could trigger this dark evolution? the dark ocean? Myotismon? I CANT WAIT TO KNOW jfkbfjdkbfkd
WELL, I have to said I really liked this movie, It answered some really old questions the fandom had (The original digidestined) but open new ones.
I cant wait to september (?). and now, I can go into the tag, and read others opinions, and maybe I will read something that changes my mind, and you are more than welcome to chat with me about digimon, I love talking to others about digimon and discuss theories. so please, go ahead and talk digimon to me, I need someone to talk to ;D

Review: Digimon Adventure: (2020) Episode 21: The Tide-Turning Update
Tumblr media
In this episode, with Takeru free and hopping through suspicious craters on his own, it’s up to Taichi to pull the win out of his own ass this time.
It’s both a blessing and a curse that the action flows so smoothly from one episode to the next. We enjoy the continuity and everything staying meaningful and the plot moving forward, especially here as they reach the destination they were told to seek out all the way back in episode five. At the same time, SkullKnightmon taking Angemon’s digiegg creates a thread that has to be followed, with no time for Yamato and Takeru to celebrate their reunion or to get Takeru up to speed on what the hell world he just fell into. Given how the story fails to progress past the castle gate and the one big development is an indication of bad times to come, we’d much rather have those instead.
We generally excuse this when the action is meaningful enough. Rescuing Takeru is important whether or not we care about Takeru. There is nothing meaningful about this fight, just a token summoned opponent getting in their way. Splashmon does his best, the miasma adding extra danger to an already unique and challenging attack pattern. But MetalGreymon and WereGarurumon use conventional tactics to fail to beat it, which don’t cut it. Not when battle creativity has become one of the show’s biggest assets and not when you recall the sort of wild manipulative insanity Taiki used to beat him in Xros Wars. There’s nothing inspiring here. Splashmon is too good an enemy to use in this situation, and the heroes aren’t ready to rise to the challenge.
In desperation, Taichi tries to pry MetalGreymon out from Splashmon’s clutches and triggers a new mode that instantly ends the battle. It’s worse than it sounds. You gather we’re supposed to be impressed at Taichi getting in there, harming himself in the process. Thing is, Taichi’s been riding with Greymon on the front lines for the entire series. Just because he actually suffers this time doesn’t mean he’s taking any more of a risk now than he has this whole time. His dramatic speech isn’t even out of concern for his partner. This isn’t Haru diving into a virus-filled pool out of concern for Dogatchmon. Taichi just wants to save the world. Worst of all is you just know this extra weaponry is going to be used as a psuedo-evolution for everybody, and if this is any indicator we still won’t get the character development that’s supposed to go with it.
But that’s what Takeru’s for, right? Now Yamato might have emotions and more to think about before making decisions! Or maybe now that he got what he wanted and can ensure his brother’s safety, he doesn’t care about the rest of the mission. Or… maybe he’s going to barely register Takeru’s presence and stash him away at the first opportunity to go fight the bad guy like always. And despite leaning into the over-protective, worrying tendencies we’ve had teased this whole time, when he hears Takeru wandered off on his own in a hostile environment and accidentally released the monstrous ElDoradimon, Yamato only pats him on the head and says good job.
Takeru doesn’t even get the kind of telling introduction Taichi and Koshiro got in episode one. He doesn’t say much of anything, nor do we get into his head as much as his actions should demand. His strange obsession with a giant crater compels him to a perilous climb on his own, where he reaches the barrier sealing a giant eyeball that responds to the digivice, which he rolls with. So what we’re gathering is that he’s a very vague little child, barely aware of the situation around him, preferring to defy common sense to follow odd compulsions rather than actually think about what’s happening. Doubt it was intentional, but the vibe we’re getting is either he has some sort of mental health issue, or he’s a straight-up cryptid.
We don’t want to diminish what’s going on in the real world. It’s far more encouraging, as Joe and Mimi show their commitment to the cause before surprised relatives and Koshiro and Sora watch the network going to hell all over again. But Joe and Mimi are just fleeting moments. What they do is good, but it will take extended time with their families and actual tension before they’re where they need to be. The Algomon returning and swarming around Calamarimon as they reroute a tanker to plow into a port is nicely ominous, especially with a bunch of Rookie Digimon the only ones there to stop it. It’s not enough on its own, but it does keep our hopes up. What’s going on the Digital World sure don’t.
My Grade: C+
Loose Data:
They don’t do a whole lot, but it was nice to see Falcomon and Spadamon return to help Taichi and Yamato out. It’s more to affirm that they’re still around and still will be around in the future, but those are positives.
We’ve been informed about Mimi’s wealth, but actually seeing her estate helps orient us immensely. It’s also so stark having Mimi’s grandfather, this new and awe-inspiring figure, sitting at the table with her parents, the exact same pair from the original series.
With Taichi’s mom barely aware of his absence, it’s good to see Sora and Joe’s mothers actually being worried and nagging them for disappearing for three days in a crisis. And what does it say about this family that Shin had a bugout bag already prepared for the moment Joe showed a hint of independence?
Piyomon and Tentomon have to carry Palmon through the network, but Gomamon glides on his own.
The Strait of Malacca with the hijacked tanker is between Malaysia and the island of Sumatra in Indonesida. No word yet on whether the tanker is targeting a cursed Masaru on holiday.

Review: Digimon Adventure: (2020) Episode 08: The Children's Attack on the Fortress
Tumblr media
In this episode, all it takes is one ass thinking he’s better than everyone else to turn the whole team into a terrifyingly coordinated, efficient and effective invading army. Who knew?
Despite Koshiro and Kabuterimon taking their sweet-ass time getting into the Digital World, Yamato’s return binds the team together in a way that instantly makes it feel complete. It isn’t—some of these kids still have a lot to smooth out and Takeru and Hikari will complicate everything—but Yamato creates a tension that was sorely missing, rounding out the team and pulling everybody into their own unique corners. This is the first time the group dynamic feels sustainable through an entire series, and it doesn’t hurt that everyone gets to be a little awesome in a major team victory.
The episode’s premise and opening engagements promise greatness. An suspiciously convenient lighthouse shines a path to a fortress on an otherwise desolate shore. Tokyo has already started hoarding essentials expecting the worst. The hope of reaching the continent doesn’t blind the kids to the ominous tone going on here, and they’re rewarded with a sniper shooting down Ikkakumon. He and Birdramon think quickly to get everyone out of the drink safely, only to be greeted with a Tankmon assault and more sniping from the “lighthouse.” The overwhelming danger, the dark and misty night, and the lucky intervention they needed just to hide in a cave puts everyone’s backs to the wall. This is where we get to see character.
While Taichi had the fortune to meet Koshiro and Mimi in peak form, and could already vouch for Sora’s potential, Yamato meets the rest of the team rattled, recovering from the closest shave they’d encountered so far. They aren’t exactly Taichi itching to save the day and quick to befriend his new battle buddy. Rather than put his faith in the likes of Joe, Yamato insists a larger group makes for a larger target and that he should storm the castle himself. Gabumon thinks he’s trying to keep them safe. That’s cute.
In fairness, Taichi’s not sure what to make of it either. Is Yamato actually that dismissive of the team, trying to protect them without admitting it, or just being tsundere again and being a decoy without telling anybody? It takes Joe and a poorly received attempt at surrender for Taichi to realize he can return the favor and draw fire away from Yamato. Taichi and Sora charge in behind, arriving in time to take a DarkTyrannomon off Yamato’s hands, while Mimi and Joe run screaming as the Tankmon use them for target practice. It’s a simple strategy, one used many times before in the series, but they come to it organically, with plenty of clumsiness and indecision. They struggle to get to this point, making it more satisfying when everybody aces their tasks to achieve an outstanding success.
Simple and effective is also the best way to describe Yamato’s narrative this episode. While he still recognizes Taichi (and by extension Koshiro) as a useful ally, his preference is still to act on his own. And to be fair, it must have worked for him to not only get to this point, but scout the nature of the fortress and its guards. His revelation at the end is more gradual than it appears, first from Agumon and Piyomon jumping into a fight he perceived as a problem, Sora introducing herself as she follows her partner in battle. The pivotal moment comes as he reaches Gorimon thanks to Greymon running interference and leaving Gorimon unable to pick a target. That’s when he realizes everyone’s contributions, and that the victory he’s about to seal belongs to everybody. Being Yamato and all he doesn’t give a big speech about it, just a quick comment to Mimi, but it’s clear he recognizes the impact and the power they all have if he’d accept it.
Mimi’s not wrong though: Yamato did save the team. A couple episodes ago, it was a little too one-note, with not enough diversion and disagreement to be all that compelling. Joe helped a little, but Yamato provided the spark we needed, the bass line to round the song out and reinforce all the other sounds. Now everyone’s stepping up, where Sora’s role as Taichi’s second becomes vital and Mimi’s blunt honesty is impossible to ignore. There’s plenty more to do with these characters, but the show is exactly where it needs to be.
My Grade: A
Loose Data:
Mimi braiding Ikkakumon’s hair and her ire at Joe stealing her (actually Sora’s) towel is the sort of cute little throw-ins that we can continue to count on her to provide. It’s reminiscent of Eri or Astora providing amusing antics in the background of otherwise straightforward scenes in Appmon.
Sora quietly became the bearer of helpful observations this time around, questioning why there would be a lighthouse, showing concern over how quickly people in Tokyo are panicking, and recognizing that Yamato is a force to be reckoned with even on his own. She’s also bearing supplies again, which was mostly overlooked in the previous three episodes.
While the focus will be on the teamwork of our heroes, we should once again point out the intelligence in the enemy setup, creating a fortress to occupy a chokepoint beyond the beachhead. Gorimon using the Solarmon to both draw in and blind targets from a distance is the chef’s kiss.
Gabumon and Agumon are thrilled to see each other again, a nice callback to their pre-existing friendship in episode two. Although they seem to be more pleasant to each other in their Child forms than their Adult forms.
Piyomon once again gets denied an evolution sequence, as do Palmon and Gomamon, leaving the only sequences for Gabumon and Agumon (only the former’s is full-length). Honestly, given the pace of the episode, this left the episode with one too many sequences. I’m on board with only using them in plot-heavy moments.
