As unreaasonably long-winded as this story is on my patience, it is nice seeing all the friends and allies the Freedom Fighters met throughout the reboot all lend their support, while also giving us a little more insight into their teams like with the Shijin Warriors and Desert Raiders. Even the G.U.N. Commander is kind enough to lend the goodies a fleet to help them in combat!

But things aren’t entirely great for Sonic and co. Tails Doll is there.

All is set up for the final confrontation, at least the non-Sonic Unleashed related conflicts. Looks like it's gonna end with most of the villainous teams we’ve seen throughout the reboot teaming up at some point, all to deter the heroes in their moment of glory.

I’m pretty excited for the finale, if a little bit exhausted. It took us about three years of issues, delays and an intrusive crossover to reach the closing parts of the reboot’s only long-running arc!

The side-story is somewhat more exciting, keyword being “somewhat”. since the Tails Doll is transmitting the heroes’ group meeting, that means Eggman (and the reader) has to (re-)watch most of it word-for-word. Afterwards, Eggman plans ahead with all of this newly-acquired knowledge and sending out various operatives who we’ll be seeing at the start of Panic in the Sky later. This includes Phage, who makes her return here.

In Sonic Universe, Phage was portrayed as all-evil and ambitious to get in her boss’ good graces after failing him at one point. Here we discover that that failure was...her eating and absorbing most of his systems following her activation! She’s generally a little more ditzy during her conversation with the more impatient Eggman, showing little Phase emoticons in the background and at one point glaring at the Freedom Fighter livestream when Nicole shows onscreen. She’s still not one of my favourite villains of the comic but I’m glad we see more sides of her character than in her debut!
