Note
How did you feel about the face masks you just posted? And can we get an updated "top shelf" please?
You can. Warning: your use of the term “top shelf” made me take this very seriously.
In the morning I cleanse with Superfacialist Vitamin C Cleansing Oil (inexpensive and does the job as a morning cleanse or evening first cleanse) and wash it off with a flannel. My favourites are the Aurelia Muslin cloths as they’re soft with no texture, and so not abrasive against my skin which is pale and so prone to redness. Then I apply Pixi Glow Tonic to everywhere but my cheeks (again, to avoid redness) with non-sterile gauze pads - a recent life changing discovery that means less product is absorbed into the pad and therefore wasted, and more of it ends up on my skin. A spritz of La Roche Posay’s Serozinc once that’s soaked in. My current morning serum is The Ordinary’s Niacinamide, which I’ve found is best used on its own or it seems to create some piling for me. My summer moisturiser, and maybe favourite moisturiser of all time, is the Bio Essence Hydra Tri-Action Aqua Sleeping Mask (which needs renaming, and might have been discontinued…) which is technically a mask, but can be used as a gel moisturiser that I find absorbs and sits nicely under the most important skincare product: SPF. Reigning supreme as the best SPF I’ve ever found is Biore’s UV Aqua Rich Watery Essence SPF50+. It applies like a gel, sinks straight in, no white cast. It is a chemical SPF though, and so I find if I’m not making sure I’m hydrated it can be irritating, but making that extra effort with a good moisturiser is worth it for the easy application.
In the evening I remove my eye make up and lipstick with Bioderma. An unnecessary step, but I can’t get used to the idea of putting oil cleanser that close to my eyes and lips. I then first cleanse with the Superfacialist Oil from the morning, and second cleanse with Emma Hardie’s Moringa Cleansing Balm, an experience that no matter how bad my day has been always makes everything right again. I follow that with either The Ordinary’s Salicylic Acid, which I’m currently testing after finishing off Paula’s Choice’s version, or a new instant all time favourite product: Biologique Recherche’s P50. I finally caved and brought it for myself for my birthday, and I didn’t want to believe the hype, but I do. Within a week the difference is noticeable. Again, non-sterile gauze pads, then a spritz of rose water once it’s soaked in. Evening serums are either The Ordinary’s Azelaic Acid, usually every other day to keep mild rosacea invisible, Sunday Riley’s Good Genes if I know the following day might be one in which I want to feel particularly glowy (though I’m running out, and I’m not sure I’ll repurchase), or The Ordinary’s Retinol 0.5% in Squalene twice a week (I turned 26, it’s time to start retinols), always finished off with Indeed Labs’ Hydraluron. I’ve found it to be the best formulation of hyaluronic acid at the lower price point, and it never pils no matter what it is put on top of. Evening moisturiser is a little stronger, currently Weleda’s Skin Food, but I tend to switch between that and Embroylisse’s Lait-Creme Concentre each time I finish a tube.
I’m only just starting to really explore masks. The Inkey List’s Kaolin Clay is a basic but functional clay mask that’s not too drying, but I haven’t got into the habit of reaching for it regularly. The Verso Deep Hydration Mask was a free gift and, though it certainly was hydrating, I don’t think I’d buy it. It’s not worth the price and has the same effect as a thick layer of the Bio Essence mask. Omorovicza’s Acid Fix is a similar free gift story: it’s a nice a treat, but the effect is not any better than other acids considering the price. But, I’m love with Skinfood’s Ginseng Sheet Masks, and have re-brought them several times now. I need to read up on the ingredients because whatever it is, it’s extremely hydrating and soothing.
Makeup is still kept simple: Tom Ford’s pen eyeliner, which will have to be pried from my cold dead hands. It’s worth every penny, and is probably my ‘desert island’ product. Chanel’s Inimitable mascara (non-waterproof, the waterproof formula doesn’t work for me) is still my favourite for my top lashes only, otherwise I look like a porcelain doll (in a bad way). Lush’s Honey Lip Scrub and either Glossier’s Balm Dotcom or Dior’s Crème de Rose - thankfully no longer discontinued - have always won the the war against chapped lips for me. Current red lipsticks on rotation: Mac’s Russian Red (a classic), Too Faced’s Drop Dead Red (for when I want to say to the world: leave me alone), and Lisa Eldridge’s Velvet Jazz (the luxury choice), all over the top of a lip pencil so they last all day.
For hair, it used to have a natural curl until I lost most of it during the peak of my ill health a few years ago, so now I have to do manually. Bumble & Bumble’s Invisible Oil Heat Primer is the only heat protectant I’ve found that doesn’t smell horrendously ‘chemically’, and has the added smoothing-shining benefit of being an oil. Kerastase’s Elixir Ultime shampoo has the full credit of helping to grow my hair back strong and healthy, but Davines’ OI is currently proving to be good competition. Body: I used to have terrible keratosis pilaris on my arms growing up, but that’s kept under control by a scrub (currently Caudalie’s Crushed Cabernet, though it seems to have been discontinued), a mix of copious acids (most effective found to be: The Ordinary’s Salicylic Acid or AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peel, and Alpha-H’s Liquid Gold), and a moisturiser to handle the redness that creates. The current favourite is The Body Shop’s Aloe Butter, because it smells of nothing, allowing the full effect of Byredo’s Bibliothèque perfume.

New Makeup Routine
Instead of rambling on, I’m just going to dive into my almost-entirely new makeup routine and products:
Priming: I’ve really been enjoying the Glossier priming moisturizer, which hydrates but also slightly mattifies the skin and creates an even, smooth base.
Foundation: I’ve been consistently using a new base product that’s sort of a foundation and sort of not, the Dior Forever perfect skin foundation. It has a medium amount of coverage and SPF 35, but it also blurs the skin and lasts literally forever. This is the only base product I’ve tried that doesn’t separate, gather, rub off or fade for an entire day, even when I don’t set it with powder. And the fact that it’s lightweight and has SPF makes it as great for daytime excursions as it is for nights out.
Concealing: I’ve gone back to the very first high-end concealer I ever bought, which also happens to be the most high-coverage and long-lasting one out there- Makeup Forever waterproof concealer. It’s perfect for hiding breakouts or redness.
Bronzing: A year ago I would have literally laughed if anyone suggested I try cream bronzer. Cream products with oily skin? GTFO. That is, until I found the MILK makeup matte bronzing stick. The tube is chubby enough that i just quickly draw a short line in the hollows of my cheeks, blend a little with my fingers and have sun-kissed contours. The color is flattering and it lasts all day, plus is easily blended and buildable. The only downside (if you consider it one) is that it smells a lot like play-doh.
Blush: I’m completely addicted to a new blush that is also a cream product, so the world is probably ending. Glossier’s cloud paint in beam is.... heaven in a tube. The formula is so easy to apply and unlike other cream or liquid blushes I’ve tried it lasts forever and totally wakes up my face. The coral-orange color is so bright and flattering, seriously everyone should own it.
Highlighting: Now that I’ve gone into more cream products I thought I should at least try out a cream highlight, and I’m angry to say that I’ve also fallen in love with this product. As someone who owns at least a dozen expensive and gorgeous powder highlights, I’m ashamed to say that the humble Glossier Haloscope might replace them all. I got the shade Quartz which is a sort of pale pinkish color in the tube but more like a glossy shimmer on the face. It’s a very sticky product, which actually makes it last longer than my powder highlights and it adds a more subtle radiance. Next up I’ll probably try the palest shade, Moonstone or something.
[I’m still using the same brow gel from MAC and mascara from Maybelline. I also haven’t been wearing much eyeshadow]
Eyeliner: I usually buy myself a luxury makeup item for my birthday. Last year was the YSL tint in balm coral thing that I still wear constantly. This year I decided to take the plunge and finally buy the dual-ended Tom Ford eyeliner pen of my dreams. I’ve tried pretty much every drugstore and high-end liquid eyeliner pen, and this one has been hailed as the queen of them all. I love the smaller end for getting extremely close to the lash line and making a tiny, subtle wing, and I use the larger paintbrush end on days when I want a bold cat eye. The formula is smudge-proof, lasts forever and is jet black. Plus the packaging is so luxe I could die.
So there we have it, an almost completely new face of makeup to head into fall with. I’ve been almost completely off liquid lipsticks and other matte/drying formulas, so if you know of any tinted balms that you’re all about, please let me know!

Today's beauty market is a bottomless virtual repository of palettes, eyebrow pencils, fakes and liners that promise to give our eyes an awake and immaculately tidy appearance. The only non-negotiable item in the eye industry is of course that tiny wand covered with liquid that you use to brush your lashes every morning. It is and will always be the number one love of makeup and the only thing on which your personal stock is based: mascara. So here are the top 35 of all time.Average woman wearing makeup will spend $ 3,770 on mascara during her lifetime, according to a Money video published by People in 2017. And let's face it ... you're not the average woman who wears makeup. If having thick, voluminous, long and perfectly curled eyelashes is a daily priority, you could find yourself paying a small fortune, then you'd better make a profit from these Sephora purchases. No one has to teach you the slightest variations in mascara formulas. You are already familiar with those that are designed to curl, lie down, thicken and not clump or run. But in case you want a little help in eyelash service, you'll find 35 of the most acclaimed mascaras of all time.We only include products that have been independently selected by The Zoe Report editorial team. However, we may receive a portion of the sales if you purchase a product through a link in this article.Too Faced Better Than Sex MascaraAfter amassing more reviews than any other mascara on Sephora (about 15,000, that is, about half of them are five stars), Too Faced's Better Than Sex eyelash enhancer is pretty much the unanimity. The long-lasting, jet black and lump-free formula acquired its own cult afterwards and gave birth to a multitude of dupes. The only negative point? It does not come in softer tones.Take advantage of cosmetics “they are real! Elongating and volumizing mascaraIf Better Than Sex is the all-in-one for mascaras, then this bestseller from Benefit Cosmetics is certainly the second. Tracee Ellis Ross uses it to achieve her "sexy bedroom eye", she says Vogue Beauty Secrets video. "It's the paintbrush," she says.Milk Makeup Kush High Volume MascaraLess than five years after its launch, Milk Makeup has already obtained the status of saint with its Kush collection, whose star ingredient is cannabis seed oil sativa (hemp seeds). This ultra-revitalizing hydrating mascara is the highlight of the range.Lancôme Definicils lengthening and defining mascara Lancôme Definicils mascara is called iconic. It has retained its relevance for decades, even with each launch of revolutionary Kardashian on the Internet. Almost 1,800 people gave it five stars on Nordstrom.Buxom Volumizing Lash MascaraCertified lump resistant and approved for sensitive eyes, Buxom's beloved mascara does not need an extraordinary name or any other bell or whistle to attract people's attention. It has a flexible hourglass brush, the bristles of which tighten each lash's attention. You can go directly to the root without staining.Chanel's Volume MascaraIf you are not wearing a scythe, this is the best thing to do. It comes with a special Snowflakes brush that combines short and long bristles to lift and plump. Dior Diorshow MascaraA recurring winner of CharmAs part of the annual Beauty Awards, Dior Diorshow mascara is so luxurious that it is packaged in a patented pneumatic locking tube that prevents oxygen from entering and drying the formula. It Cosmetics Elastic Superhero Stretch Volumizing MascaraAlmost 4,000 people gave It Cosmetics' best-selling formula five stars on Ulta, including countless who tout it as the best mascara ever. Her ability to lie down like Ms. Incredible is her number one superpower.Essence's Lash Princess false eyelash mascaraFor $ 5, you probably don't need much to convince that the fake Essence mascara is worth it. But if you do, it's the best-selling mascara on Amazon, with over 12,000 five-star ratings.Lancôme Monsieur Big mascaraFor thick, full lashes reaching the sky, Monsieur Big delivers. The youngest of Lancôme Definicils mascara is the answer to all those who have begged the brand to make their iconic formula waterproof.Rolling Lash Curling & Lifting Mascara by Benefit CosmeticsSo, what makes this fan favorite so special, you ask? (Quite special to warrant another mention of Benefit Cosmetics in this list, that is.) Everything is in the Hook 'n' Roll brush, which grabs, lifts, separates and bends at the same time.L'Oréal Paris voluminous mascaraYou see this familiar packaging every time you walk the aisles of makeup at Target, probably because it takes up the most space on the shelf with its range of 12 colors. It was called an imitation of Diorshow, but the many celebrities who openly worship it don't seem to care.ColourPop BFF MascaraOf course not all mascaras are black in the first place and this list of the best deserves a touch of color. ColourPop's unconventional BFF mascara is available in eight shades, including white, coral and cobalt blue in addition to your standard blacks and browns.Urban Decay Perversion MascaraThe Urban Decay Perversion line is a partnership between an ultra-thin eye pen (the key to a sharp cat's eye, many say) and this favorite mascara for make-up artists. The brand attributes its creamy formula to the intense color it provides.Yves Saint Laurent's False Eyelash Effect MascaraThis fake stand-in was the only reason why Demi Lovato didn't look like a raccoon after her heartbreaking performance at the 2020 Grammy Awards, according to Cosmopolitan. And it's not even waterproof.NARS Climax MascaraIt's hard to believe that such a full-bodied eyelash could come from a light feather formula, but NARS Climax mascara is magical like that. It is perhaps the most explosive when combined with the brand's Orgasm Blush.Tarte's Lights, Camera, Lashes Mascara 4 in 1Described by the brand as a push-up bra for your eyelashes, the Tarte's Lights, Camera, Lashes formula has won almost 100,000 loves on Sephora. Critics praise its ease of application and its elongation capacities as well as its star qualities.Maybelline Great Lash Washable MascaraIf there was one of the most iconic mascara ever, Maybelline's Great Lash variety would be. Its lime green and salmon colored tube is easily the most recognizable beauty product in history. Its water-based formula was revolutionary in the 1970s and is still widely revered today.Stila Extreme Lash Extreme mascaraWith words like "huge" and "extreme" literally in the name, you can bet that this mascara will give you the kind of va-va-voom lashes that, at one point, only extensions could provide. The brand describes its rich pigment as "ink-like", but don't be fooled into thinking it is thick and heavy.Pat McGrath Labs FetishEyes MascaraFor serious dramas, like Teresa Giudice, try the peptide-rich FetishEyes from Pat McGrath Labs, the only permanent mascara in the brand's huge makeup line. It goes particularly well with its many palettes and offers optimal fullness with a single layer.CoverGirl LashBlast Volume Waterproof MascaraThe product itself refuses to clump, flake or smear - the holy trinity for any mascara, let alone the one you can find at CVS - and the coveted fan effect created by its barrel brush makes this CoverGirl gem worth much more than what it actually sells for.Thrive Causemetics Liquid Eyelash Extensions MascaraOn the mascara scene, Thrive Causemetics' liquid eyelash extensions became an instant Instagram sensation when it launched in 2018. Best of all, the brand donates a portion of each purchase to victims of domestic violence.Volume mascara by Kevyn AucoinIf chemical-containing mascaras drop your eyelashes, this is the one for you. Comprising of ultra-nourishing jojoba oil and an integrated primer, Kevyn Aucoin Volumizing mascara is approved for sensitive eyes.Honest Beauty's Extreme Length Mascara + Lash PrimerIf she gets approval from Jessica Alba's own beauty, then you know it must be really squeaky. This two-in-one mascara also serves as an eyelash primer, and it's about time you started using one. Glossier's eyelash stickA fiber mascara is made of microscopic fibers like nylon and silk that stick to your lashes and make them appear fuller. Glossier is highly qualified in this variety and although not technically waterproof, his eyelash stick is stain resistant enough to support emotional therapy sessions, according to one reviewer.Maybelline Volum 'Express Colossal Big ShotSome mascaras simply do not live up to their waterproof name. This pharmacy gem is different. Trust famous peloton instructor Emma Lovewell, who said to The Cut it "never runs".Full Fat Lashes Mascara by Charlotte TilburyCharlotte Tilbury once said Charm that she "used to cocktail up to five mascaras" to get the volume, the length, the curl, the separation and the drama she wanted. This is why the makeup artist designed her Full Fat Lashes mascara: it's a one-stop shop.Wander Beauty Mile High Club Volume & Length MascaraAnother beginner, Wander Beauty's Mile High Club mascara is different because A) it is an innovative packaging resembling a lip gloss and B) the fact that it can do eight things: lift, volumize, lengthen, strengthen , feed, etc. He has won numerous beauty awards in 2019.NYX Professional Makeup Worth The Hype MascaraWhat makes this mascara worthy of its eponymous hype is that it is thin enough (and lump resistant) to apply layer after layer, because who on earth stops after a single layer?Tom Ford Extreme Eye Bad Ass MascaraMadness, yes, but Tom Ford's new Extreme Eye Bad Ass mascara is already gaining major traction, mainly for its wand. The hairs are shorter than normal and more spread out, giving you access to places that are more difficult to reach.L'Oréal Paris Double Extend eyelash extension mascaraYou get nourishing and elongated mascaras, but this two-in-one wonder does both (and it really delivers). Both sides allow you to focus on one task at a time.Giorgio Armani Beauty Eyes To Kill MascaraNo fake? No hair curler? No problem if you have this multitasking mascara handy. In fact, this is the one Kendall Jenner swears by (so it must be damn good).Velvet Noir Major Volume Mascara by Marc Jacobs BeautyThose who weren't blessed by the eyelash gods may not have much to work with, but that's okay, according to this consistent high-end (which has more than 65,000 loves on Sephora) . After a coat, no one will even know how bad your eyelash line is.Premiere at Vivienne Sabó's cabaretIn the midst of your usual pharmacy classics, this quirky French formula is a reference in the best range of Amazon, with almost as much opinion as (and a better overall rating than) LashBlast Volume mascara by CoverGirl.Damn Girl from Too Faced! 24 hour mascaraMany would argue that nothing could surpass Too Faced's Better Than Sex mascara - not even another version of the same brand - but Damn Girl! just shouldn't be compared to her returning queen sister as the two couldn't be more different. The creamy foam gives an ink finish that lasts 24 hours, in case you want to wear it that long. https://oltnews.com/the-35-best-mascaras-of-all-time-from-pharmacy-classics-to-celebrity-favorites-the-zoe-report?_unique_id=5e9d12fec4f25

Tent-proof products to keep you Insta-ready at any festival
http://fashion-trendin.com/tent-proof-products-to-keep-you-insta-ready-at-any-festival-2/
Tent-proof products to keep you Insta-ready at any festival
OK, so there’s no hairdryer or full-length mirror, but you’re determined to rock killer festival looks day-after-day from beauty base camp, aka your tent – and we admire your commitment.
Travel-sized products, skin hydrators, glow-givers, bright makeup and hair revivers can take your look to the next-level – even when you’re beautifying in a confined space. Here’s our pick of what to stash alongside your festival clothing, boots, bumbag, vodka and festival glitter this festival season…
Morning Mask
Wipes are a festival essential, but they’re not great for skin. We’re giving thanks, then, for these serum-soaked skin pads, 7-in1 Miracle Skin Mask Pads, £27, StarSkin. With exfoliating beads on one side, they act as a massage, exfoliator, toner, moisturiser, serum, mask and makeup primer in one. Count them as an in-tent mini facial.
Skin Glow
“Create a fresh base to showcase a decorated look”, recommends makeup pro and Max Factor ambassador, Caroline Barnes. “Use a base with high SPF and a moisturising finish to keep skin fresh and hydrated with minimal effort.” Caroline loves Waso Colour Smart Day Moisturiser, £34, Shiseido. With carotene extracts, it plumps and moisturises, protects with an SPF 30, and the colour adapts to your skintone on application to give a healthy glow.
Take Cover
For full coverage where needed, use a stick concealer and blend with clean fingers, recommends Caroline. Her pick? Dermablend SOS Cover Stick, £15,Vichy.
Green Clean
For quick cleaning before you hit the hay, pack biodegradable wipes. Try Vitamin E Facial Cleansing Wipes, £7, The Body Shop.
No Glasto? No problem! Here are 13 equally amazing UK festivals to book ASAP
Ready Brows
“Always define brows and lashes, then you can carry off any festival look,” advises Caroline. She recommends prepping in the comfort of your own bathroom with a semi-permanent product such as Tattoo Brow Easy Peel Off Tint, £12.99, Maybelline.
Coat Lashes
Use a tubing mascara over a waterproof version, recommends Caroline. “It doesn’t go cloggy and it’s less likely to flake off as the formula isn’t clumpy. Try Scandal Queen Mascara, £18.50 ,Fairydrops.
Colour Pop
Add a swipe of colour with bright liner or mascara. Glitter Pop Peel-Off Eyeliner, £16, Too Faced , adds a strip of sparkle and it’s easy to take off at the end of the night (*ahem early morning*). Or brush up brows with colour using Extreme Lash and Brow Tint, £36, Tom Ford. “Don’t opt for uniformity, make each eye different. Go high one side then low on the other,” says Caroline.
Loud Lips
The brighter your lips, the better, but go for matte textures that last the dancing distance, says Caroline. GLAMOUR loves Lip Addict Lip Tattoo, £25, Dior. “Keep a balm on hand to moisten lips.”
Glitter
No festival is complete without you own glitter kit. Model’s Own Glitter Mix (£9.99) is ideal for on-the-go and less-mess sparkles as it’s already pre-mixed with an adhesive, just swipe and go! Or if you want to really switch it up, try IGK’s Fomo (£19). It’s a holographic hair foam that adds a 3D, metallic colour effect that’s perfect for disguising greasy roots. Make sure you read our glitter how-to to get yourself fully prepared for twinkle town.
Next Day Hair
OK, so we wouldn’t leave home without a dry shampoo, like this space-saving version Dry Shampoo On The Go Blush, £1.50, Batiste. But if you want to switch up your looks, pack these other festival hair heroes. On day two, keep the smooth going with these handy Anti-Frizz Hair Sachets, £20, Ouai. Stash in your bumbag and wipe over hair to smooth down flyways and gloss on the go. On day three, it’s time to go with texture. Amp up natural texture with Dry Texture Foam, £24,Ouai, that can be massaged into hair lengths and roots to give a great texture and root volume to your hairstyle.
And less prep time, more party time!
11 second-day hairstyles that work well with a little grease

Banter Babe: Ellis Brooklyn’s Bee Shapiro
What’s your beauty vibe? Is there such a beauty vibe as a mood ring? I’m constantly changing up my look. My makeup beauty goals would probably be Katie Jane Hughes. I’m obsessed with her Instagram account. She does so many cool color and texture combos without looking like she’s wearing a pound of makeup. Also, she does a lot of glitter shades on the eye, and I’m a sucker for anything twinkly.
What’s the first beauty product you owned and loved? My mom was – and still is – obsessed with skincare so I feel like I’ve been using beauty products in some way, shape, or form since I was born. I remember whipping up lanolin oil hair masks in second grade and I also did egg white facials. I’m also part of the Lip Smacker generation. I had five different flavors in elementary school, including my fave: Dr. Pepper. I was also obsessed with Love’s Baby Soft fragrance. The first makeup product I was most into, though, was my black kohl eyeliner from Wet n’ Wild. I was 12 and I would wait until I got to school (so my mom wouldn’t see) and then spend some 10 minutes each day putting on gobs of it. I grew up in Seattle so I thought I was doing the grunge look justice — the important word here is “thought.” It might not have been my best beauty moment but I’m still a big fan of eyeliner, so it really was love.
What’s your favorite beauty treatment splurge? I had a facial from Nichola Joss recently, and I swear my face looked lifted for a week afterwards. I’m a huge proponent of massage in general and she’s best known for this inner mouth massage that hurts so good. She’s also just an immensely talented, lovely person so I absolutely believe in karma and good vibes and all of that.
What’s your daily makeup routine — and how long does it take? I have a 3-year-old and a 19-month-old, so I have gotten very good at putting on makeup in five minutes. That said, I don’t skimp. If it’s the weekend, I’ll skip foundation and might just do a tinted sunscreen. I like the radiant one from Ever or the Skinceuticals Physical Fusion UV Defense, which is so reliable. But if I’m headed to work, then I like a longwear foundation. The Dior Forever is really good, and I like the MAC Pro Longwear nourishing formula. They each have a color that works very well for me. I dot that on with a damp Beauty Blender so it’s still relatively sheer. I almost always wear eye makeup. I have virtually nonexistent eyelashes, so mascara is a must. My go-to lately is Lancome’s Monsieur Big. It’s like Too Faced’s Better Than Sex, but with a less clunky brush. Eyeshadows might be my favorite color product. I have palettes for days. Also Tom Ford just put out some glittery beauties via his Extreme line. I use a black liquid liner on top and a soft kohl or gel eyeliner on the bottom, like the one from Smashbox. For liquid, I’m fairly agnostic, but I do like the Lancome Artliner and Cle de Peau has one that has two different brush ends, thick and thin, which is nice. I might contour with CLE’s bronzy cushion compact; Charlotte Tilbury’s Bronze and Glow is good for days I’m on the oilier side because it’s a powder. I have a bunch of Chanel blushes in a variety of shades, and I’ll dust a tiny bit on just on the tops of my cheeks. For lips, I generally go for a lighter neutral color by day. The new Dior Lacquer Plump is so good—like a stain but not so drying. Brows take me the longest. Lately, I’ve been using two different pencils by Benefit. One has a wide, long tip and the other is very precise and made for drawing in hairs. I also am very into fragrance (obviously!). Since starting my line, Ellis Brooklyn, I pretty much only wear my own. I’m currently over the moon for our new Fawn scent. It’s neroli, coconut milk, amber, lily of the valley; it’s my highbrow-yet-delicious summer scent.
What’s your daily skincare routine? Lately, I start with Skinceuticals Replenishing Cleanser, which is gentle yet gets the job done. Then I’m big on the layering scene. I can always leave a layer off. If it’s pretty mild out, I might just stick to a hyaluronic-based serum. The Innisfree Intensive Rehydrating Serum is so good for the price. Skinceuticals also has a bunch of really great serums. If it’s harsh or dry out, I might layer a cream on. I love the Avene A-Oxitive line. I’m also a huge fan of the Avene Cicalfate Restorative Skin Cream when my skin is on the fritz. At night, I do the same cleanser situation but might also use the Klorane Waterproof Eye Makeup Remover. It’s super effective without being too oily. I’ll go back to the serum and then do an oil instead of a cream. I avoid silicones when I can at night. I think silicones are okay in moderation, but too many skincare products these days over-rely on them. Also, you really don’t need a silicone unless you’re out in the elements. I’ve been into the Elemis Superfoods Oil. Also, the Elemis Pro Collagen Eye Serum is so lovely and sinks in right away.
I’m also a big-time masker. I’m really loving the M-61 Fast Blast Facial Mask lately, which is like a blast of vitamin C in just 2 minutes. At night, I like the Glow Recipe Watermelon Sleeping Mask. If I’m not using the sleeping mask, there are a plethora of glycolic/lactic peeling options out there.
Age gracefully or filler and botox, please and thanks? Currently just aging but definitely considering filler and Botox. With the two kids and the fact I’m turning 37 this year, Mama looks tired. I also discovered all these tiny eye lines recently. It’s like they appeared out of nowhere.
What product do you buy in bulk? Aquaphor. I use it for my kids and myself. For awhile, I tried to eliminate all petroleum jelly and mineral oil from the products our family uses, but then my youngest had very bad eczema and Aquaphor, along with Mustela’s Stelatopia line, was the only thing that worked. I find it one of the best multi-use products, ever.
What’s your save-the-day hair product and why? I am so impressed with the Miriam Quevedo Glacial White Caviar Hydra-Pure Shampoo. After I had my second baby, my scalp would not stop itching. I literally tried everything from scalp masks to scrubs to sulfate-free, etc. This is the only thing that made my scalp stop itching. It’s super gentle, gets the job done, and has some sort of magic (albeit expensive magic) that rebalances your scalp’s flora.
I also really like the Briogeo Don’t Despair, Repair hair mask. It smells delicious and really does the job without weighing hair down too much.
Who is responsible for your hair – cut and color? I actually get my hair cuts all over New York. I’m constantly testing out different stylists for my New York Times work. My most recent cut is by Arsen Gurgov. It’s very good because he didn’t over-layer and it’s growing out well. The best cut I ever got, though, was by the master, Serge Normant. I currently don’t have my hair colored, but I am very tempted to go crazy blonde one day.
Best piece of beauty advice you’ve received? This one came from my mom: Don’t focus on being the most beautiful because there will always be someone more beautiful than you out there. Instead, make the most of what you have and then don’t think too much about it.
Who is your beauty icon, and why? Probably Francoise Hardy, but since I will never look like that — I’ve never been good at that effortless French look anyway — I’ve sort of given up on the whole beauty icon business. Instead, I sort of have my muses of the moment. I’m currently super into Fernanda Ly and also the Japanese model, Kozue Akimoto.
What’s your least favorite beauty trend/ look? The angry brow. It’s the one that’s most in your face lately. I’m actually very much in favor of a strong brow but I’ve been seeing so many pairs of angry brows on the subway. What may look decent on Instagram may just look scary in real life.
If you could only do one beauty treatment on the weekly, what would it be and why? A massage, hands down. It just re-centers everything and gets the blood going without doing a workout.
What’s your best kept beauty secret? If you want to keep breakouts at bay before a big event, drink a shot of aloe every morning. Don’t go for the sweetened stuff, go buy a big bottle of straight aloe juice from Whole Foods. The stuff is disgusting but I swear it works.

12 Best Blue Mascaras
I decided to take a break from my usual black mascara to give the hot 90’s blue mascara trend a shot. It’s fun, bold, and vibrant, and it has definitely made a comeback (even on international runways) – so I thought, why not? Blue flatters all eye colors, and I guarantee that everyone will notice your fabulous lashes. I tried various shades of the blue mascara, and these are my favorites. If you want to try something that’s beyond the usual, you will love these!
12 Blue Mascaras That Are To Die For
Benefit They’re Real! Lengthening & Volumizing Mascara In Beyond Blue
Tom Ford Lash Tips Mascara In Pure Cobalt
Yves Saint Laurent The Shock Volumizing Mascara In Blue Underground
NYX Color Mascara In Blue
Maybelline New York Volum’ Express The Colossal Big Shot Mascara X In Boomin’ in Blue
Covergirl Katy Kat Eye Mascara In Perry Blue
Beautify Beauties Easy On The Eyes Sensitive Eye Mascara In Navy
Butter London Inky Six Electralash Colour Amplifying Mascara In Vibrant Blue Shimmer
Make Up For Ever Smoky Lash In 5 Blue
MAC False Lashes In Blue Charge
Chanel Le Volume De Chanel Mascara In 70 Blue Night
L’Oreal Voluminous Original Mascara In Cobalt Blue
1. Benefit They’re Real! Lengthening & Volumizing Mascara In Beyond Blue
Pros
Intense color payoff
Provides length and volume to the lashes
Long-wearing
Does not flake
Holds and defines the curl
Cons
Difficult to remove
Review
This is a gorgeous dark shade of blue. I love the wand and packaging of this Benefit mascara – the wand is made of rubber and has got spiky bristles that separate and coat each lash with the product. Its formula is neither too wet nor too dry, and two coats gave my lashes a nice, intense color. What impressed me most is its incredible staying power – never did it smear or flake – and if you’re going to be caught up in the rain, you don’t need to worry about this running down your face!
This dark shade is great for those of you all with lighter eyes and can be worn even on a boring weekday to brighten up your look (it’s quite a subtle shade).

2. Tom Ford Lash Tips Mascara In Pure Cobalt
Pros
Long-wearing
Intensely pigmented color
Applies smoothly
Does not flake
Adds depth and definition to your eyes
Cons
Pricey
Review
I love me some Tom Ford, and this is a such a stunning, vibrant cobalt blue – it’s the right amount of perfect for adding depth to your makeup and brightening the eyes. When I first opened this to see the wand, I was quite shocked because it’s rather short, but when I tried it on, it worked well (especially when I only wanted to add color to my lash tips). This was easy to use and applied without clumping. I’d also like to add that this lasts for very long and I needed to use my oil-based cleanser to remove it because water didn’t do the trick.
This is a great shade of blue for all those with lighter eyes as this cobalt shade will define and brighten your eye makeup. It’s ideal to wear in broad daylight as the color tends to show more.

3. Yves Saint Laurent The Shock Volumizing Mascara In Blue Underground
Pros
Lengthens your lashes
Applies smoothly and evenly
Easy to use
Does not smudge or smear
Does not get clumpy
Cons
Perfumed formula
Review
Just like its shade name suggests (Blue Underground), this is a deeper shade of blue that is too darn pretty! Its wand is bliss – the shorter bristles coat and separate my lashes with much ease. I wore it on the hottest days, and it did not budge, smear or flake. It also holds my curl all day long.
If you’re looking for a subtle blue – this is it. It would stand out more on fair skin tones as opposed to darker skin tones as it’s not a very poppy blue. However, I do feel that this shade will look pretty on both light and dark eyes.

4. NYX Color Mascara In Blue
Pros
Very pigmented
Applies evenly and smoothly
Coats and separates lashes well
Long-wearing
Does not smudge
Cons
Not extremely volumizing or lengthening
Review
A must-try blue drugstore mascara? This is it! It’s a bright, electric blue that will add just the right amount of drama and color to your lashes. I like its formula – it’s so easy to use, and it coats my dark black lashes with enough color to last the day. It did not flake or clump, and neither did it weigh down my lashes – which is a problem I face with a lot of mascaras. I was highly impressed with its dark color pigment that just refused to come off – only an oil-based makeup remover did the trick!
This color will look fabulous on dark and light eyes. Also, it’s a quite universal shade that will flatter all skin tones (especially medium to dark skin)!

5. Maybelline New York Volum’ Express The Colossal Big Shot Mascara X In Boomin’ In Blue
Pros
Adds loaded volume and length to your lashes
Super pigmented color
Long-wearing
Suitable for contact-lens wearers
Cons
Dries out quickly
Review
This one’s another of my most adored drugstore mascaras, and I’ll tell you why! It’s extremely pigmented, it stays on all day long, and the wand is perhaps my favorite. It separates my lashes and coats each individual lash beautifully. Shayla Mitchell collaborated with Maybelline, and this mascara was born. The color is a cool blue tint that really brings out my eye color and makes my whole eye makeup look so bold.
If you have blonde eyelashes, this will be an ideal choice for a more poppy, out-there effect. However, you can enhance its effect by applying a white primer before throwing in this mascara.

6. Covergirl Katy Kat Eye Mascara In Perry Blue
Pros
Instantly volumizes and lengthens your lashes
Buildable color
Waterproof
Does not weigh down your lashes
Cons
Hard to take off
Review
This mascara created by Katy Perry and Covergirl is again such a blessing in the drugstore arena. Its blue helps make the whites of your eyes appear brighter – so on the days you wake up to tired-looking eyes, you can throw in some of this poppy blue shade mascara to get you through the day. I need to specially mention how this did not disappoint me on a hot summer day – it just did not budge.
This shade of blue tends to pop out more on fairer skin tones and grey or green eyes.

7. Beautify Beauties Easy On The Eyes Sensitive Eye Mascara In Navy
Pros
Hypoallergenic formula which is great for sensitive eyes
Volumizes and lengthens lashes
Paraben-free
Contains antioxidants and vitamins A & E
Cons
Washes off easily
Review
This is a navy blue shade of mascara that I am so fond of! Its formula is very pigmented, and the color is buildable – so you can do a subtle or a more dramatic look, as per your preference. This mascara’s a  holy grail product for those with really sensitive eyes as it’s made of very gentle ingredients, is non-irritating, and is also fragrance-free. Its flexible wand helped me define my lashes with much ease and flexibility. Also, if you wear contact lenses, this is great as it won’t smudge or budge.
The navy blue color will look gorgeous on every eye color and will especially flatter fairer skin tones.

Shimmer
Pros
Highly pigmented
Conditions your lashes with beeswax and carnauba wax
It does not smudge or flake
Ophthalmologist tested
Cons
Does not provide enough volume
Review
I was thrilled when I found this royal blue shade of mascara. Its color is fun and vibrant, and it’s also buildable. It’s easy to use, and I like the fact that it contains ingredients like beeswax to nourish and condition my lashes. Either you tip your lashes for just a tiny pop or coat over the entire lashes to enhance your black mascara. For a bold, dramatic look, apply directly to bare lashes.
This is a beautiful shade for every skin tone and eye color. It will look exceptionally stunning on a night out with a tint of some gold eyeshadow!

9. Make Up For Ever Smoky Lash In 5 Blue
Pros

Review
This one’s a miracle mascara that everyone needs to try! The wand is amazing, and it lets you get close to the lash line and build as much volume as you want, without getting clumpy. This one’s a midnight blue shade that is not very poppy or bright – so if you are on the hunt for something rather subtle, this will do a great job.
This shade will look exceptional on all skin tones and is a sure-fire way of bringing out the color in your eyes.

Cons

This shade of blue is definitely worth trying if you’re curious about colored mascara. It’s a bright blue that stands out and adds so much drama to your makeup. It provides a lot of volume and length, which left me quite impressed. It shows up even on dark lashes like mine, but if you want to make the color more noticeable, you can wear a white mascara primer.
This color will look great on all eye colors and skin tones. It makes for a great day look as well as a fancy evening look.

11. Chanel Le Volume De Chanel Mascara In 70 Blue Night
Pros
Defines and separates lashes
Lashes don’t look stiff or spidery
Applies evenly and smoothly
Rich color and pigment
Cons
Overpriced
Review
Blue Night by Chanel comes in a classy, sleek packaging that stole my heart. It has a really convenient wand that applies the product well, coating each lash while separating them. This is an intense dark blue that looks really pretty. However, I wasn’t quite impressed by its ability to provide length and volume – it did a mediocre job on this front. I do like the way it feels on my lashes – light and supple.
This color will pop out more on lighter eyelashes, but if you want to intensify its effect, you can use a white primer underneath. This is a good option for any occasion!

12. L’Oreal Voluminous Original Mascara In Cobalt Blue
Pros

Cons

Review
This is a royal blue, and I’ve received compliments every time I wore this. I like its formula that resists clumping and keeps my lashes soft. Also, it does add a lot of volume and length to my lashes. Another factor that impressed me is its ingredient list – it contains Panthenol and Ceramide-R to condition and nourish lashes.
This shade will look great even on darker eyes and skin tones. It makes a great shade for summer for the right amount of oomph!

Quick Tips: How To Pull Off Wearing Blue Mascara
Now that you have a dozen options to choose from, let me give you a few tips on wearing it the right way (to add charm and volume to your gorgeous lashes). If you aren’t sure the trend is for you, read on!
If you’re going to go in with blue mascara, keep the rest of your makeup neutral, especially your lips, to balance the look. A “barely-there” makeup look is an ideal companion to be paired with colored mascara.
You can add a dust of pale nude or peach eyeshadow to make the blue pop even more.
For a more intense look, makeup artists suggest applying mascara primer before you go in with your colored mascara to prep and then adding two coats of your blue mascara.
If you want to keep it subtle, then wear the blue mascara and then layer it with your usual black. Swipe on your traditional black formula and add a coat or two of the color for just a hint.
Blue mascara is a fun tool to add to your makeup kit, and even if you don’t wear it on the regular, you’ll like having it there to give your eye makeup just the right amount of boost when you’re in the mood for it. It’s now time for you to try some of these products. Do you have a favorite blue mascara that you can’t stop obsessing over? Share with me in the comments section below.

“Shampoo and condition hair.
Part the hair in a low side part, using hair clips to secure the hair tucked behind the ear.
Blow-dry the hair to smooth the ends.
Curl hair using a 2″ curling iron from the nape down, making sure the curls are done at the same angle all over without lifting at the roots.
Use a soft bristle brush to shorten the wave.
For added hold, slightly comb the underneath of the hair to make the wave stay.
Spray with hairspray to hold!” See More Pics Of Oscars Beauty
Her gorgeous makeup was done by makeup artist Stephen Sollitto, who used Tom Ford Beauty.
He used TOM FORD WATERPROOF FOUNDATION/CONCEALER in 4.5 Ivory for her flawless skin, TOM FORD SHADE & ILLUMINATE in Intensity One to highlight, TOM FORD FIBER BROW GEL in Taupe, and TOM FORD Extreme Mascara for her stunning lashes. Her lips were covered in a mixture of TOM FORD LIP COLOR in Bruised Plum and TOM FORD SOLEIL LIP FOIL in Venus Rising.
This past year has been an incredible one for Amy. She starred in two critically-acclaimed films: Nocturnal Animals and Arrival. Both films are nominated for multiple Oscars. Her roles in these films couldn’t be more different. In Nocturnal Animals, Amy plays a sexy and troubled art gallery owner living in Los Angeles. In Arrival, Amy is a linguist who is able to talk to aliens. Amy has taken over Hollywood this awards season and we wouldn’t have it any other way!

Here’s our pick of what to stash alongside your kimono, boots, bumbag, vodka and glitter this festival season…
“Use a base with high SPF and a moisturising finish to keep skin fresh and hydrated with minimal effort.” Caroline loves Waso Colour Smart Day Moisturiser, 34, Shiseido.
