My favourite CWHL memory comes from when it was still a very new league and the teams were named after the female minor hockey associations in the cities they played in. I remember seeing people who were my hockey heroes such as Vicky Sunohara, Cheryl Pounder, Jayna Hefford, and countless others. They came to the rink I played out of (we didn't have a CWHL team) to grow the game, some of my teammates hadn't heard of these players but learned about the league and we're shown that there's a place for women to play at a high level after school.
