look who wrote mtl fanfic for the first time !! starring no one's favourite scream queen, jules explosion (oc) and her "will they? they won't." relationship with the host of the dethklok minute. nothing wild going on, but WARNING for mild and implied smut. oc x canon relationship.

"So, how's your brother?"

Jules sits up, unsticking her sweaty back from the starched cotton bedsheet.

This motel is quite nice, as far as motels go, and Jules has stayed in some real shitholes so she should know. The white bedsheets are clean and there's a minibar beneath the TV. The tap water is drinkable and it's pay by the night, not the hour, which is always boosts Jules' self esteem.

"He's fine," Jules replies. This motel might be on the nicer side, but she was yet to see a No Smoking sign. She leans over to the bedside cabinet and takes a cigarette from the open packet. "Thanks for asking."

"That's good, that's good..." He's leaning up on his elbows, watching as Jules lights her smoke and takes a long drag. "Anything... going on with him?"

"No," Jules snaps. She lies back down. The sheet she was holding to her chest drops back down to her waist. "And you won't get a word out of me anyway, you should know that by now."

He chuckles lightly, in that fake, showbiz way he always does. "Doesn't hurt to try."

He plucks the cigarette from between her fingers, brings it to hip lips. He takes one drag and hands it back.

They're both silent while Jules finishes smoking, dropping the butt into the empty glass on the bedside.

She knows he'll keep asking, every meeting they've had has been overshadowed by the lingering presence of her brother. In fact, most of her meetings with any one in the 'biz tended to be overshadowed by her brother. Nathan Fucking Explosion.

The first time Jules and the host of the Dethklok Minute met, Dethklok had only just released their debut album. Jules didn't know who he was then, why would she? He was a nobody.

The Dethklok Minute was just starting up, gaining traction through the myriad of Dethklok forums that were springing up on the web. The host of said show had managed to wrangle a press ticket to the album release party and was dying to finally get up close and personal with the five dudes he was riding the coattails of. Because without Dethklok, the host of the Dethklok Minute would still be just some nobody from Small Town, Nowhere.

Unlike Jules.

Jules was doing well for herself. Perfectly well, in fact. She'd been invited to this party because of her growing fame, she claimed, not because of Nathan. This was partly true. Her fame was growing; she was getting more jobs than ever before and people knew her. Certain people knew her, anyway.

Either way, she was at this party and Nathan could suck it if he thought it was all because of him.

So Jules made the most of it. Drinking, mingling, free food. Oh yeah, she could get used to this.

"Hey, you're Jules Explosion, right?"

Jules glances to her right. A tall, blonde somebody is looking at her, half curiously, half knowingly.

"I am, who's asking?"

"A fan. I saw your latest movie, it really was something!"

"It was, wasn't it?" Hack and Slash wasn't necessarily her best work, but it paid the bills. Besides, she'd have other jobs after this, on real films.

"What do you have lined up next?"

Jules glances down, sees the PRESS badge around Tall Blonde's neck. When she looks back up he flashes her a crafted grin.

"Is this an interview?" she asks.

"No, no, I'm just making conversation. Can't a guy talk to a pretty girl at a party?"

Jules rolls her eyes. She thought she had had enough of guys like this at college. But then again...

"Yeah, I suppose he can."

20 minutes and some boring small talk later, and Jules has to admit that the bathroom at Crystal Mountain isn't the worst place she's had a hook up before. Might be one of the best, if she stops to think about it. But, as it happens, she's being pretty well distracted, so the smell of bleach and the squeak of the gleaming marble-effect tiles fall to the wayside of her thoughts.

Tall Blonde is pretty good at this.

Afterwards, when the two of them have returned to the party, looking only slightly dishevelled, they talk some more.

"So, it must be crazy, right? Your brother being in one of the biggest bands in the world?"

Jules frowns. She ignores the churning in her stomach, "Must be crazy for him, his sister being one of the most popular horror actresses in the 'biz right now."

"I should get going," Jules says. She tries to sound nonchalant, "Have a thing to get to."

She sits up, swinging her legs out of bed. Jules sighs when she sees her panties are too far away to reach from the bed. Her back cracks when she stands up and stretches.

"That event doesn't happen to be the Dethklok Fundraiser for Widows and Orphans, does it? Because I'm going too, we could car-share?" There's an irritating lilt to his voice.

"I wouldn't be seen dead arriving with the press," Jules remarks, "But thanks anyway." She throws a half-way cheerful smile over her shoulder as she pulls her panties back on.

Her shirt goes back on next, then jeans, then shoes. She grabs her purse, checks for her wallet, car keys, house keys.

He shrugs, "See you there, then. I'll be sure to catch you for an interview."

CFC 166

1. Drunken HY kissing XQC’s neck and XQC “groaned, his back trembled” - it’s an angsty moment because XQC is dead set on denying denying denying but seeing how insanely affected he is by this is !!!!! One of the things I love about Meatbun is how well she conveys longing (and also that both people in her pairing are hot for each other, none of the victorian “lie back and think of jjwxc” for her.)

2. HY begging for a hug is heartbreaking. It shows how good Meatbun is because 100 or so chapters ago, I wasn’t just ready to gut HY with a rusty spoon but genuinely couldn’t see how I could ever ship HY x XQC and now I do and my heart is breaking (but then this was the case for me with 2ha too -I started out disliking both mains and the rest is history.) HY is so confused and frankly, even someone who is not young and in his first relationship AND has serious mental issues would be thrown into a tailspin by XQC’s hot and cold behavior. XQC is pushing HY away for HY’s own good (he genuinely believes that) but honestly the way he’s acting is designed to create a breakdown. Also, I really really need for XQC to hug HY at some point without HY begging or a life/death situation. I am this close to writing fic about it, and I haven’t written any in close to 15 years.

3. Forced kissing and groping against the wall. Aaaaand this chapter is getting locked in 3, 2, 1...

4. HY still thinks it’s because he’s a man. Goddammit, XQC, seriously.

5. The fact that my MTL translates Chen Man as Chen Slow is one of the small but enduring joys of my life.

6. XQC’s reaction to Chen Man seeing the kissing makes me certain that at some point, x-rated videos of XQC and HY will go public because Meatbun likes to go for maximum pain and hit where it would hurt the most for the character. XQC is not fully to terms with being gay (though is he? He Yu clearly is, but XQC strikes me as demi more than anything else - it’s driven by that need to love first before feeling desire much more than what gender the partner is, but he’s not straight at least)  AND he is a hugely private person AND there are aspects of their relationship that are condemned by society even aside from gender (though that is there too and he knows that) - doctor x patient, age gap, blah blah. Or maybe the stuff won’t leak but threat of leak and humiliation for XQC would be used to keep HY in line? (And then they will leak anyway, of course.)

7. You got two hot young men brawling over you in the hallways, XQC. (I am now flashbacking to 2ha, and CWN realizing two of his students were obsessed with him and wondering if it’s is fault because one student could be a coincidence, but a 67% ratio is...heh.) But HY is also excited because it gives him an outlet - jealousy (objectively he should know XQC x CM are not a couple, if for no other reason than CM is also a man and XQC sticking point seems to be the gay thing) but he’s never rational about Chen Man.

8. HY telling CM all about how he and XQC banged and CM thinking about it is (a) gonna get this chapter locked (b) CM’s brain is blown that XQC is not the top - I am amused at how consistent that is and (c ) HY is an idiot because if XQC was not angry before, he would be now and he should be! He just got outed without his consent which is !!!!

9. XQC backhanding HY is my sexual orientation. And He Yu’s apparently.

10. Hmmm, Chen Man found out about XQC and HY and is now less obedient. I wanna make a long meta paragraph about it but it’s still percolating in my brain. Short version - I guess if XQC is not untouchable any more AND another young guy got to boss him around in bed this means CM’s views of XQC are shifting from purely impossible/untouchable to human like me which means I don’t need to always defer. Which is honestly healthier for Chen Man, but ahh, the utter devastation this whole mess must be for XQC.

11. XQC is keeping HY to talk because he’s the most unhinged one but honestly, I feel so terrible for XQC - what a way to be outed. He Yu needs proper therapy more than a relationship btw tho for him the two are tied and he will never succeed in one without the other.

12.Radiation is the way to calm him down? Congrats, He Yu, if you don’t go nuts in a fashion that kills you, you are gonna die of cancer.

13. HY is a strapping 20 year old but emotionally he really comes across as a small child - with that same lack of impulse control (he is already sorry he spoke up!) and lack of regulation, strong extremes of emotions and all that. And I find it so sad because part of it is his condition but part the awful deprived upbringing that stunted him so.

14. “It was Xie Qingcheng who gave him oxygen to live.” SCREAMS!!!!

15. HY losing it because he gets a paper cup and not his rabbit cup and XQC says he got rid of HY’s mug. And the reason HY is like this is because he’s emotionally on the brink already so anything can push him off (he’s been suffering for weeks and before that it was years of lack of love and so much abandonment) but also it is a symbol of relationship being over and...

16. And now XQC is asking HY to basically vanish from him entirely. HY, you dug your own pit, but honestly also XQC - if you are doing this for HY’s sake, how is any of it helping? HOW?

The Song of Achilles/Metalocalypse AU

ahh !! I commissioned a friend of mine (who is an incredible artist and specializes in custom/DnD art!! If you’re interested in her work her etsy is MadisonNicoleArt) and she helped me finally create an AU I’ve been obsessed with for a while!

Ok this is going to be pretty long, so bear with me !!

If you’re not familiar with The Song of Achilles it’s basically a retelling of The Iliad by Homer, but from the perspective of Patroclus, the right-hand man of Achilles. It’s a beautiful, magical tale and if you’re familiar with The Iliad the ending is (spoiler)  gut-wrenching and heartbreaking. You spend the whole story knowing what’s coming, and you almost get lost in the enchanting beauty of Achilles’ and Patroclus’ relationship with each other. 

Now when I first got into the Mtl fandom I was surprised there weren’t any Iliad AUs (BUT CORRECT ME IF IM WRONG AND SEND THAT SHIT MY WAY), because Achilles was a beautiful, golden demi-God (sKWIsGAar in a nutshell LOL) and Patroclus his stong, toned, gorgeous (im extrapolating here but...) right-hand-man/partner/lover/soulmate/other half who, though never prophesied by the Gods for greatness, had his own strengths and made his own name for himself following his heart (Achilles ;))

Here are just some ideas I’ve had about this:

Skwisgaar

- Serveta being a promiscuous Queen who has a one night-stand with a lower level God that left immediately. The God’s seed was so strong that after birthing Skwisgaar his mother became incapable of having any more children and she resents him for this. 

- However, Skwisgaar was prophesied by the Gods to become the greatest/quickest warrier of his time with potential to become one of the Gods. His step-father (gentle Tyr) married Serveta and he loves her dearly, though she constantly cheats on him and neglects her only son. 

- Tyr does his best to make it up to Skwisgaar, but obvious damage has been done.

- Skwisgaar’s real father is never revealed and it’s quite popular in town to make theories about which gorgeous God Skwisgaar is the bastard of. (Adonis is a popular choice)

Toki

- Toki being the only son of the cruel King Aslaug, a malevolent leader of a deteriorating village. Toki is a small/weak boy for his age and is constantly beaten, belittled, and humiliated by his father, and therefore has no respect from the village people despite being the rightful heir. 

- He ends up accidentally killing a young bully his age (son of a noble man) in blind rage because he has certain freak episodes (episodes that likely led to his parents fearing/hating him??). (This is almost exactly what happened to Patroclus in TSOA) 

- He’ s exiled from his home, loses his family name, and is sent to be a ward of King Tyr and lives with various other abandoned orphans/exiled princes in Skwisgaar’s father’s rich, plentiful kingdom. 

NOW the fantastic slow-burn begins. Because Toki can’t seem to fit in with the other boys and there are constant rumors about how he beat a kid to death for such petty reasons and the rest of the kids are scared of him and keep their distance. 

aLL BUT SKWISGAAR! (and fuck i keep almost writing Achilles)

Who finds the new foreign boy utterly fascinating and is inexplicably drawn to him. 

Skwisgaar is obviously popular with the fellow boys for he is a tall, strong child destined for greatness, and he basks in this fact. 

Now I see Skwisgaar skipping training/class to wander off and play with a golden lyre in some hidden spot in the nearby woods.

The same spot Toki escapes to to avoid the blatant stares and loneliness. He’s shocked for a moment to see the golden prince lounging serenely on his favorite spot surrounded by flowers. But he’s stopped in his tracks after hearing Skwisgaar’s masterful Lyre playing and is absorbed in the music. He remember how, during his cold lonely years back home, an old wooden lyre was his favorite escape. 

Skwisgaar spots him and is not surprised to see how this young boy is amazed by his playing because everyone is. He’s a Lyre God. But he is surprised when the young boy timidly asks, 

“Cans I tries it?”

No one has ever had the audacity to interrupt him mid-play or the confidence to play anything that could match him. However, he’s amused and has been watching this new kid for a while, so he beckons him over and lets him play a song. 

NOW THIS IS THE MOMENT! The moment Skwisgaar is sHOOK by how Toki’s fingers glide across the instrument and the gorgeous sounds he makes. It’s not exactly like Skwisgaar’s, but it’s something entirely his own. Something gut-wrenching and heartbreaking. And Skwisgaar feels something he has never felt before for any music other than his own. 

And they end up sneaking off often and spending their free time like this, playing Lyre together and barely speaking. Eventually Skwisgaar tells his step-father he has chosen Toki to be his partner/right-hand-man (bc they did that in Greece, forgot what it was called??) and Toki is shocked and happy and can’t believe for once in his life he can be near the first person that’s ever made him so happy in his life. 

Then obviously the growing up together thing !!!

- Toki becomes stronger and truly grows into himself. He’ll never have Skwisgaar’s natural swiftness of foot or affinity for combat, but he’ll be damned if he doesn’t try. 

- Skwisgaar is originally jealous of/shocked/impressed/aroused by how muscular/toned Toki grows up to become, but he constantly lords his impressive height over Toki

There’s so much more I feel is too much to add!!! 

But the other mtl ppl too:

- Murderface or Pickles would actually be a really cool Chiron (a satyr who has trained many Greek heroes)

- Abigail as Briseis !!! (wont talk too much about her role bc TSOA spoilers)

- I’m not sure yet who Charles would be but he definitely has a place in this AU!!!

And the boys have so many obstacles in the way of their relationship, society/expectations/responsibilities/themselves. And it’s hard and painful but so worth it as long as they have each other. 

And stuff happens and the Trojan war breaks out...

I have so many thoughts for what happens to them, but ugh it’s too much to put in words almost. Just, I can’t help but think of these quotes from the book?!?! They scream Skwistok to me

ah, Champ-really? that’s adorable 😊 I love having nicknames ! oh gosh, me too! There was such an influx of bullet point scenarios & mtl, for a good few days I was really confused n I thought people had totally stopped writing fics altogether in favour for bullet points 💀 actually, I think my heart fluttered especially because of the concept of the Mark fic. Biasing Jungwoo, it’s my first time in 10+ years being an older fan!!! (not by much, but still!) (1/3) 💕🥂

it felt weird at first, and I felt somewhat guilty? I’m not sure why because the age difference is literally just 1 year. Hendery has stolen my heart, too. Since becoming a fan of nct, it’s the first time in 4-5 years I’ve been a multi. Idk I’m just very fond of nct and they helped me through a very difficult year. I’m glad I let myself explore and become a fan; I don’t regret a single moment. I forgot what else I wanted to say because I rambled 😂 (2/3) 💕🥂

ahh~! I always lean toward really romantic thoughts of Johnny 😭 n in my mind he’d totally put emphasis on the wedding band n he’d want you to notice bcos it’s like, I’m yours and you’re mine type thing n to him it’d be a totally deeper connection as compared to when you weren’t officially engaged or wedded or whatever 🤒 I get you ! Jaehyun isn’t among my immediate favourites but he really attracts everyone for one reason or another. He did the bulk of pulling me into nct, actually (3/3) 💕🥂

Good morning, beautiful! I feel you on the age difference; I'm older than Taeil! I figured that since I'm only interested in legal members anyhow (because duh?) that it helps to further narrow it down in terms of emotional maturity so - whoops - it turns out I'm much more into the hyungs of the hyung line. 😂

NCT did so much for me, too! I think that's what's so great about seeking a community like this, because I feel like even more casual users still feel deep affection for these boys.

Emotional sex is weird and disarming but it's definitely worth having, but romantic sex is worth having much more often, and Johnny would be all about romantic sex. 💕

Jaehyun is, indeed, an actual prince, but I've just fallen for the other members so much harder! It's difficult to explain. Maybe it's just Jaehyun's puppy-like/boy-next-door demeanor that doesn't do it for me as much? But I'm also hopelessly devoted to Doyoung who may be the most neurotic member of NCT so 🤷🏻‍♀️ your mileage may vary. 😂
