Tinsel SHIMMERED against the glow of holiday lights strung around the Bullpen, the precinct transformed for the holidays. Although they were all still on the clock, it was nice to know that things were SLOW enough this season for Detroit’s finest to celebrate a little bit. It was Connor’s first REAL Christmas celebration, after all.

Decked in a VELVETY green suit, Connor stepped into the break room to ADMIRE the Christmas tree. It was adorned with silver BAUBLES and white flowers, all illuminated by a beautiful pale blue string of lights, all topped with a GLITTERING bouquet of ornamental grasses and flowers.

There were a few gifts under the tree as well, for later tonight. Among them were a few he had purchased for his coworkers. It was difficult to find MEANINGFUL monetary gifts, he thought. For Hank, it was easy. The record player sitting in his house was all but an ORNAMENT, so Connor bought him a turntable for him to play his jazz vinyls again. For Officer Miller, a cookbook for his new baking hobby he’d told Connor about. For Gavin, well...he bought Gavin a keychain he saw at a gas station while out with Hank. And for Jade...well, it was CUSTOMARY to keep such gifts a surprise, wasn’t it?

A soft smile came to his lips as he looked over the tree, clasping his hands gently in front of him. Tradition was a funny thing, he thought. Christmas was a PAGAN holiday snatched by Christian colonists, and today centuries later could mean something entirely different from whatever it was they were celebrating. So many cultures SQUANDERED by a dominating force of “holiday cheer.” He wondered how many other TRADITIONS there could have been, if given the chance to SURFACE in modern society.

The android had to confess that it has been an interesting journey post-revolution. He’s seen quite a bit in a different light, but there was so much more to know about society. Connor was knowledgeable about a vast amount of subjects, but he didn’t have first-hand experiences with most things. Even now, his brow twisted in mild confusion to the words that Jade spoke. 

“I’m sure you’re able to obtain multiple ways to travel to your home. It is not impossible.” Connor voice with a shake of his head as he stood just beside Jade near the window of her apartment. It goes without saying that.. the detective android allowed the meaning of her saying to go over his head. He attempted to survey the area through the window, but the frost upon the glass obstructed the view from his optical units. He blinked his eyes several times before turning his head towards his companion-- his friend-- his lover.. once again.

“Although, I do not recommend you travelling in this weather.” He inflected his emphasis in his voice. Connor’s tone was quite serious and blunt, but it was truly because he cared about Jade’s safety. “You could return to your home when the weather calms. - I could accompany you. If you would like.”

Death stared at the mangled body before him. The reapers already making their report. Roaming around to clear up any mischief demons would try to pull with the body. The police already there scrambling around collecting evidence. Seeing what happened. Humans were always interesting when it came for them to figure out the reasoning behind someone. How they died. Who killed them. All knowledge splayed out for Death before they even reached, heard about it.

He lights his cigarette. Though a high wouldn’t be able to reach him. It was a human thing he enjoyed. Just to blend in with the rest of them. Exhaling the smoke with in his so to speak lungs as police passed by him. 

Questions of if he knew anything. His eyes burrowed into them. Seeing nothing but the soul they withheld. Explaining with a dead aura to him.  A few stuttering before they walk away from his form. He steps closer towards the body to take a better look at the dead human. “What a waste..”

With a furrowed brow, Genevieve squinted her eyes in a bit of confusion to Jade’s statement. It almost made her wanted to do a scan of their surroundings to see if she was actually speaking towards her. 

“Uh... what the hell did I do, Jai?” She questioned, pretty plain and simple. Although she was a bit puzzled at this accusation, she was pretty interested in what Jade would say to her. “I mean - if I did something wrong, please let me know...”

He didn't expect her to come closer, so it threw him off a bit when she was suddenly right there in his face. Niko blinked, shaking his head as he took a step back from her sudden appearance.

"I didn't mean to stare," he defended quickly, holding his hands up to her, "But... Fae? I can't say I do remember seeing one."

Her aura was different from the humans around them in the city. It almost seemed to glisten, reaching out further beyond her body into the world around her. It was such a strange sight to him that he couldn't help but stop and stare.

"Living among the humans I don't see much of my own kind," he shrugged, giving a little smile, "I was just... Surprised to see someone else."

Call Sixty? It is a good idea, but Lotus is hesitant. Worry and dread wreak chaos in her brain, but she takes a deep breath. Now is not the time to be thinking of such things. She needs to focus. She glances behind her, where she meets Jade's eyes. She needs to keep her friend safe.

And in this type of situation, calling for backup is the logical choice.

Nodding, she pulls out her phone, drawing her gaze back towards the building. It's brief, but she caught sight of the intruder, moving about inside the apartment. Awfully busy, aren't they? Probably tearing up the place. She wants to assume that this is just a mere burglar, but with what happened, this cannot be a coincidence.

Lotus presses the emergency button, sending her current location to Sixty and alerting him.

"Sixty should be here soon." She gives Jade a calm smile, and pulls out her spare gun. "Here. Just in case something happens."

Don't be rash. Lotus knows this. She should be cautious above all.

But this can be her chance. She can catch someone connected to Cradle. Maybe she can have her answers. There is a possibility that they aren't alone up there, but she won't let go of this opportunity.

"Stay here, I'm heading up,"

Lotus gives Jade a reassuring look, before entering inside the apartment building.

She made sure to show at the right time just as she always has this time of year. Making sure she has the perfect gift for her best friend's son? Mandatory. Jade set the box out for him to find easily. Growing up fast means getting some new accessories. A new iPhone and a smart watch. All wrapped up in a bundle of cheer. Aunt Jade always manages to pull out all the stops for best gifts in this house.

It was always nice to see his Aunt Jade during the holidays. She was always super kind to him. Plus, she always bought him cool presents! He considered himself the luckiest ( and the most spoiled ) nephew in the world.

"All of this is mine?!" He questioned with pure excitement in his voice. Byron accepted the wrapped gifts, only to quickly peel away the decorative paper from them. Once the gadgets were revealed to him, his mouth was left a bit agape.

"Are you serious?! -- These are the newest editions!" Byron exclaimed after giving the boxes a quick look over. With actually opening said boxes and to see the new devices, he realized that it was all legit. He could hardly believe that she would buy these for him, of all people.

Carefully placing the gifts down on the couch beside him, Byron quickly stood up to give his aunt the biggest hug. "Oh, man -- Best. Gifts. Ever. Thank you so much, auntie."

Cassius cringed at the statement and tried to hide behind Jade, “Yes...well...thankfully ex stays that way...it was a mistake I wish I never made.” He bit his lips slightly before gently wrapping his arms around her and hiding his face in her shoulder. 

“You’re better....gentle, kind, patient, you kick my ass to get better, and I know you won’t cheat on me...I don’t want to think about them....”
