Revisiting Celebrate Coltrane 2019 Honoring the day of Coltrane's birth, Philadelphia Jazz Project presents three FREE mixtapes created from performances during our special, CELEBRATE COLTRANE 2019 concerts. These recordings feature some of Philadelphia's finest musicians exploring and interpreting Coltrane's classic compositions and performing them in Philadelphia's Fairmount Park, directly across the street from the Philadelphia John Coltrane House back in September of 2019. The artists recorded in the CELEBRATE COLTRANE 2019 mixtape series includes the legendary Philadelphia pianist and lifelong Coltrane devotee, Alfie Pollitt with his trio including drummer extraordinaire, Alan Nelson and the under-recognized bass wizard, Richard Hill. Also on the set was Jersey-based, Philly-born and bred saxophone colossus, Willie Williams along with his son Ace; a phenomenal and aspiring trumpet talent. Finally, there is the Philly-based House/Techno music powerhouse, Worldtown Soundsystem who bring a contemporary approach to spreading the gospel of Coltrane.
