#jessica jones #jessicajonesedit #trish walker #krysten ritter #rachael taylor #jessica jones spoilers #jessica jones 3x13 #jessica jones 1x13 #femslash related stuff #jess x trish #I wasn't sure if I wanted to add the ship tags because my current feelings are so much beyond shipping #but I *do* ship them--perhaps the more because of how things unfolded this season and well that's all that's left #but even if I didn't that doesn't change how upsetting I found this season #and after thinking about it since yesterday (and only this) it's not about rachael taylor lol or even trish #it's how terrible this is for BOTH of them #that moment in the s1 finale was one of the most gorgeous and earned TV moments ever #and s3 was the opposite in every way #yes despite being a superhero show it has been gritty and grimdark and there is the expectation of that content even now #but one can't deny that s1 was about taking someone in that setting and having her triumph and rise above it #that was kind of the point--that contrast of the darkness and the rising light #with that ILY being the acknowledgment of her victory over kilgrave as well as the reaffirmation of her connection with her humanity #this season was a really well done--I have to admit the callbacks and references and buildup were very well crafted--tearing it down #getting to the dark from the light of her relationship with trish #I understand what was being attempted in s3 I *get* the beauty of a reluctant hero having to look for the good inside when her rock is gone #and an argument could be made that that was her triumph and she made the connection to the humanity within herself #but I fundamentally disagree that THAT was worth sacrificing the trish-jess relationship and trish's character for #nobody's better off alone! #I just don't get how isolation and punishment are the sendoff and lasting endings you want for your characters #when they're abused addict heroes trying to do good #this isn't even about realism like what about any of this is realistic? it's just hurtful the sake of it
