man, pregnant women in soap operas just cannot catch a break. they're always giving birth in snowstorms or elevators or cars or during hostage situations. must be extremely stressful to be pregnant and living in one of those soap opera small towns. you'd spend the whole pregnancy wondering if you would be able to get an epidural in the hospital or if you'd wind up having to give birth in some random snowbank.

#i've been revisiting old general hospital storylines and for a show with hospital literally in the title #it sure is rare for babies to be born in said hospital #you've got multiple women giving birth outside in the snow #carly has....never given birth in a hospital as far as i can tell and was once shot in the head directly after giving birth #and alexis had an unmedicated c-section in the aftermath of an underground train crash #like damn what's that hospital even for???? #but also.......why elevators? who first came up with that and why has it been used in so many different shows? #who gets stuck in an elevator for that long? #anyway...... i joke but i do secretly love the chaotic birth trope #it sort of falls in the same genre of sickfics #just another way to get that sweet sweet whumpage and hurt/comfort #can't believe i've never written one myself actually #too busy beating the shit out of characters or jumpscaring them instead i guess lol
