I’ve got dog sitting my grandparents beasts down to a science at this point. Weather permitting, I come in, I say hi, I shuffle them down to the yard(their favorite thing) where the hound stalks the trees for squirrels and I play intermittent chuck it with the cattle dog until they bring their energy levels down. Then we go inside and they sleep the rest of the afternoon I do whatever the fuck I want

#we all need yard time #it’s a symbiotic relationship #I’ve got the cattle dog used to taking breaks with the chuck it and offering when he wants a toss #since he’s ball obsessed and I don’t want him overdoing it #and he seems to really like that method(also because he has some ball guardy stuff so it’s all on his terms) #the environmental enrichment is enough for the hound she doesn’t need much else lmao
