Taylor Swift’s new album was out for like a half hour, and it went to #1 on US iTunes. And it’s expected to sell 2 million in first week sales which is insane and never been done before. That’s hella impressive...until you look at how her team incentivizes her fans to buy multiple copies for boosts so they can get concert tickets or get both her music magazines to collect because the lyrics are spread out in two magazines instead of one and you get a CD when you buy it so it’s not entirely organic. The level of gimmick is just unprecedented even though I know all artists do it but there much lesser degrees

The money grubbing from her and other artists too like Beyoncé and Jay-Z for that matter is honestly repulsive to me. It’s stuff like this that keeps me from stanning her. I just can’t get past the shrewd capitalist bullshit, and the fact that some of her deranged fans applaud this as as feminist behavior is disgusting. Don’t soil feminism with this nonsense

If all this hunger for money meant that the people who worked on this album (I also mean the crew, admin staff, laborers, etc.) got paid well, then that’s fine. But we all know that’s not true
