Part One: Prioritize (Series 20, Part 1 of 5)
Series Twenty: Cracked (Five Parts) Part One: Prioritize (Series 20, Part 1 of 5) My masterlist is at the end of my bio.
Book: The Royal Romance (After Book Three) Pairing: Bastien Lykel x OC Rinda Parks Word Count: 436   Rating: M for Language
Author’s Note: Obligatory disclaimer that Pixelberry Studios owns the TRR characters and my pocketbook with those darn diamond scenes. OFC with all of her quirks is all mine. My apologies if Tumblr or I do something stupid when I try to post this. The keep reading link shows up on my laptop but not my phone. Ugh. Thank you @asherella-is-a-dork-3 and @bobasheebaby for always being my sounding board! Thank you @cora-nova @silviasutton1989   @riseandshinelittleblossom for being my thirsty Bastien friends and for still being a part of the journey! Series Summary: This is a little transition to give some more background on Rinda’s unhealthy methods of coping with relationship cracks. It’s also meant to help give Rinda a push in the right direction with her healing process (remember, she lies and says she’s fine, but she holds onto things), and the next few series will go more in-depth with that.
Chapter Summary: It’s still the morning after the incident, and Rinda and Bastien are supposed to be headed to the conference for the final day of presentations.
Part One: Prioritize
There was one last morning session for the conference, and Rinda looked at the clock. “I’m sorry, Tiger. We’re going to be running late, but it won’t take me long to finish packing. She was about to get up but Bastien pulled her close again. “This is more important. Please let me hold you a little longer.” Rinda smiled and kissed his nose before snuggling back into his arms. . .  . .
They got a message from Nadia: N: I didn’t see you at the conference this morning. What did you think of the opening speech? Pretty amazing?
B: We’re still at the hotel, but we’ll be there soon. Sorry we missed it. Rinda saw the message and snorted. “Tiger, she blew off the conference too. There’s no way she would ever say the opening speech is amazing. That’s her way of having an excuse to check on us.” Bastien shook his head, realizing Rinda was right. B: Want to quick meet us for coffee so you can share the details? We’ll pick you up at the conference center. Rinda snorted when she read the message, and she wrapped her arms around Bastien and kissed his cheek. “Nicely done.” “I’m trying, Tria.” Rinda bit her lower lip and gave him a sad smile. “I know, Tiger. And I love you.” N: Connard. Asshole. Meet for a quick drink and one last hurrah? B: Je compte les moments avant de te revoir. I am counting the moments until I see you again.
N: Comme moi, mon amour. As am I, my love.
. . . . .
Rinda and Jameson would always say good bye to things when Henry was sad about leaving a place. It soon became a silly list of items as Henry got older and added his own things to say good bye to. The goodbye list was a habit that Rinda couldn’t break, and she started doing it without even explaining it to Bastien. “Goodbye blanket fort! Goodbye towel Teddy bear! Goodbye clown monster who wasn’t in the closet!” The singsong list triggered a memory for Rinda, and she began reciting parts of Goodnight Moon.
“Goodnight bears, Goodnight chairs, Goodnight kittens, And goodnight mittens.” Bastien shook his head, but he was laughing. It had to be a Rinda and Henry tradition, and he remembered that book from when he was a kid. She grinned at Bastien. “That’s right. Wasted brain space. I still remember the words to Henry’s favorite bedtime books.”
Rinda paused and looked at the room one more time, speaking quietly to herself. “Goodbye bad memories and stupid Rinda tests.”
