#and the fact that CL made it possible for them to reunite and perform together says a lot about her leadership 😭🥰

Queendom Review & Ranking
It’s been quite some time since the conclusion of Queendom’s second round, but since I half-assed the first half of the performances performances I decided to properly review them and rank them,as objectively as I can.
MAMAMOO - "Good Luck" (by AOA)
youtube
MAMAMOO were paired up with AOA and chose to perform "Good Luck" and... That was... Something. For the first part of their performance they chose to appear separately and each member do their part on their own and then reunite. That was a very smart idea with lots of potential but the execution left a lot to be desired. Each member’s part had absolutely no cohesion with each other and even when they were all back together on stage it felt like each member was performing a different song. Out of the thousand new version of "Good Luck" I think I enjoyed Wheein’s the most. While you can’t say MAMAMOO are not talented or that they’re bland, this performance proves that being talented and pulling off a decent performance are two completely different things. Minus points for Hwasa’s durag. Bonus points for Solar almost falling but saving it like a pro!
Score: 3.1/5
AOA - "Egotistic" (by MAMAMOO)
youtube
AOA chose MAMAMOO’s "Egotistic" and I think they might just be the only group that actually understood the concept of this round. Instead of just copying MAMAMOO, they tailored "Egotistic" and the performance they presented to fir their strenghths and weaknesses as a group. The end result was really good. Bonus points for Jimin whose voice you either love or hate; I normally belong to the second type of people but this time she was great. Their outfist were great too. More bonus points for the Drag Queens straight up Korea’s homophobic face!
Score: 4.3/5
Park Bom feat. Cheetah - "Hann" [by (G)I-DLE]
youtube
Another one of those voices you either love or hate. Being a fan of hers for almost a decade now I love her voice and herself but, the fact that I’m a fan is exactly the reason why I think I have to be as objective as possible. For starters I think she made a wrong song selection. (G)I-DLE’s songs sure are all more performance-oriented but the more chill "Senorita" might have yielded better results. Bom, for better or worse, is too reliant on being an ex member of the, at this point, legendary 2NE1 and on the nostalgia of fans that comes with her status as an ex-2NE1 for all of her stages. Due to her scandals, however, she’s basically starting her career from the bottom up, so I think that if she wants to keep having hits she should work on her stamina and pratice her dancing too, going from point A to point B and moving your hands a little is not a choreography and even when in 2NE1, who are not famous for their choreographies, she did a lot more than that. Her idol persona and her personality in general are a lot of fun, and I think she could easily get herself a permanent seat as a variety show host, if she wishes so, but if she wants to remain on stage for many years to come I thinj she should work more on performing as Bom and less as Bom: Ex 2NE1 member, unless she somehow magically reunites 2NE1. Having said all that, she had the best hair, makeup and dress out of everyone else by far! Cheetah’s secret feature was a welcome addition.
Score: 3/5
OH MY GIRL - "Destiny" (by Lovelyz)
youtube
Moving on to OH MY GIRL who chose Lovelyz’s "Destiny" and have it a more traditional feel by wearing hanbok and having traditional Korean instruments in the instrumental which sounds really pretty when descriving it but I wasn’t as excited as everyone else seem to be about this stage. It was nevertheless a very good performance and very distinct from all the others and their main vocalists gave it their all on that high note. I’m not here for those trap beats during the rap break and the dance break though...
Score: 4.1/5
(G)I-DLE - "Fire" (by 2NE1)
youtube
First of all, I feel like they were “cheating” not only because they chose a  song performed by the entirety of 2NE1 and not one exclusively by Bom and also because 2NE1′s songs are way too similar to their own type of music. I also think Soyeon completely upstaged everyone else. She seems ten times more hyped than the rest of her group. 2NE1 may have had times when CL upstaged the rest by screaming or jumping or whatever but they always worked much better as a whole. However, if we leave this part + the whole mix and match of like ten different cultures which they, very confidently, named "ethnic hip hop" the performance purely from a performance viewpoint wasn’t bad. It’s just that it feels as if (G)I-DLE decided to sing one of their own songs which, however, is ultimately still a 2NE1 song that barely had 1/4 of the energy 2NE1 gave off when they were performing it, even six years after it’s original release. Extra points off for Soyeon’s bindi. Yes Dara occasionally wore them too but two wrongs don’t make a right.
Score: 3.9/5
Lovelyz - "Sixth Sense" (by Brown Eyed Girls)
(Sorry, no video, Tumblr will only let me attach five, I’ve linked the performance above though)
Lovelyz won a challenge and were therefore awarded the option to perform any song they want from any group they want, and so, they chose Brown Eyed Girls’ "Sixth Sense". A very ballsy move on their part, not only because it’s completely different to the concepts they’re used too but also because it’s a very hard song to perform that even BEG themselves partly lipsynch to. Now, as far as the execution goes... I think they completely missed the point. Sure they did something completely different than what they’re usual concepts entail (almost different, I’ll get to that in a bit) but it felt almost like a complete copy of the source material. The outfits, the choreography, even the makeup were replicated. At the same time, very few of the girls actually pulled it off. Even if completely copying the original version of the song was what they had in mind, only Sujeong and Jin managed to channel their inner Gain while performing and of course kudos to the girls doing the high note at the bridge. I think that their aegyeo and cutesy concepts are almost second nature to them at this point and they can’t do much else. They’re singing a song about revolution and resistance and half of them are smiling as if they’re going on a school trip. The chorus and the part, possibly the best parts of “Sixth Sense”, feel completely flat and bland. At this point I would also like to point on the ridiculous reactions they got for this performance with people calling them ugly and untalented and singing Blue House petitions for them to disband. Ridiculous overdramatic Korean reactions, as per usual. On top of that, when they tried to defend themselves saying people don’t get to judge their entire livelihoods up until this point simply because of a performance they hated them even more... I hope they do better next time. Bonus points for the drums in the intro! Score: 3/5
The official final ranking, signed by the treacherous mnet which I’m sure will be investigated by the police in a few couple of months as if they don’t have actual crimes to pursue, is as follows:
1. OH MY GIRL 2. MAMAMOO 3. AOA 4. Lovelyz 5. Park Bom 6. (G)I-DLE
Worth adding that many people complained because they think AOA deserved better and that Lovelyz deserved worse.
My final ranking is as follows:
1. AOA - 4.3/5 2. OH MY GIRL - 4.1/5 3. (G)I-DLE - 3.9 4. MAMAMOO - 3.1/5 5. Park Bom - 3/5 6. Lovelyz - 3/5
In concliusion, I think AOA and OH MY GIRL portrayed this round’s concept to the best of their abilities, (G)I-DLE missed the point but presented a fun performance, I don’t know what MAMAMOO were thinking and Bom and Lovelyz need to do much better because they deserve much better.
