October 9, 2020 - Tundra Bean-Goose (Anser serrirostris)
Breeding in the Russian tundra, these geese winter in parts of Europe and Asia and are rare visitors to the Aleutian archipelago in North America. They eat mostly plants, including grass, grains, beans, potatoes, and berries, grazing in fields and pastures. Their nests are made from vegetation and down in scrapes on the ground. Females incubate clutches of four to six eggs alone.
