Katie in tmvtm was really good rep for me, personally as a wlw. It was sprinkled throughout the whole movie. The end was not a throwaway line. She literally wears a pin the whole movie. And she straight up reveals her crush on Jade at the beginning ..... if she were straight most audiences would have found that really obvious. The whole time she wants to go to college to ‘find her people’ and talks about how she was always weird growing up. You know who relates to that? me, a queer nuerodivergent person.

It was intentional and it took into account the opinions of real life LGBT+ people working on the film and its exactly what so many tumblr posts are always asking desperately for. A character who is LGBT+ in a way that informs their character but it isn’t their singular character trait. She’s also an LGBT+ character in a movie that kids are gonna see! That’s fantastic!

Anyways. Gets a stamp of approval from me at least.
