Realistic Ace Trappola + Headcanons

Okay so getting straight into it, this is my first post about my headcanons and realistic versions of twisted wonderland characters and the first one being introduced is *drumroll* Ace Trappola! Ace fans, you eating good tonight my chickies (that sounds so weird if u dont think of chickens right away LMFAO).

Sidenote: When headcanoning Ace and all my other characters, I take both factual and some of my personal thoughts/beliefs of the character to construct my headcanons.

So for Ace, its evident that I gave him acne due to reasoning such as his diet (fav food being cherry pie and mentioning his liking towards burgers) plus he is literally a teen boy that also has no women in his life and stereotypically the mother is the one to bring up looks as an issue, so without this Ace probably would have never gotten the right treatment for his acne. 

He’s already a red head so I added on that by giving him freckles. Also, it's known that redheads are more prone to acne, so another note as to why I gave him acne.

For his features for a realistic rendition, I went with a heart shaped face (because Ace’s card suit is hearts) but his widow's peak is hidden beneath his bangs. He has a snub nose shape which is quite round and slightly upturned. He has thicker eyebrows cause we all know bro don’t give a shit about his appearance.

For his hair I went wild, it's extremely fluffy, a bit curly and like shoulder length when wet. Bro has had like two haircuts his whole life and probably smells foul. I also tried to keep to the original style pretty closely without it looking really weird like bro came straight out of an anime. 

I didn't draw the bodies for any of them but Ace is more lanky with long legs and a rectangular body shape, but he has pretty big feet and hands.

Yeah and he's got a light British accent gang I’m sorry 😭 – he uses slang often as well.

Personality and backstory headcanons + a bit of character analysis:

Okay so Ace is one of the very first characters we meet in the game and a good one at that, a lot of people just put him in the category of “dumb friend with one brain cell”, and yes that's kinda true but every person had a reason to be the way they are due to personal experiences. We know in canon that Ace has always lived with his father and older brother but due to the literally no backstory on his mum, I’m saying his parents are divorced which he has much more time with his dad, also by his mannerism being so straight to the point and not sugar coated, this could be due to him being raised in an only male household. Which could also hint to why he “didn't feel committed” to his former relationship in middle school, he was so new to this type of love and got scared. After all he is just a teen, cut my boy some slack. (#1 Ace defender) 

Due to this relationship with his mother and seeing how his parents fell out of love, fought or similar, he’s very bad with women which is why he has only male friends. The only way he would have a girlfriend (or woman friend) is if they were not sensitive to his zero-filter way of speaking and even tell him off for it. (not me doing this since my yuusona is a girl 💀)

It's still mentioned that the whole family gets together around holidays (although this could possibly just mean his grandma and such and not the mothers side) so maybe the divorce wasn't messy and they just didn't love each other anymore, which happens all the time with quick relationships.

Ace is also pretty immature and not into deep and emotional conversations which is common with teen boys (especially around his age group). So not trying to hate, but all those scenarios made up with him comforting the reader and helping them feel better, in reality, he probably wouldn’t have gotten why you're so sad and not really know how to comfort you. Which is completely fine! He's not fully grown in body or mind and people need to accept this.

He definitely makes your mum jokes and sex jokes, bro cannot stop himself laughing when a teacher says anything sex related. He's highly competitive and will sulk if he loses a basketball game or bet with a friend.

Also despite being not very empathetic (not on purpose though), he appreciates the little things. For example, he’d appreciate you remembering his birthday or always having a spare pencil for him in class as you know he always loses his. He really appreciates those friends and even though he lacks in some areas, he will always protect them and stay by their side no matter what.

In conclusion, he's just some teen boy who's still learning about life and people. I had a lot of fun making the realistic design and giving him more depth as a character and I'll be doing this for the rest of the cast and after that maybe side characters?? Only if you guys want it though, I’ll also one day release my yuusona 😞. (she’s my queen get ready yall (hi i’m the 10/10 editor and assistant 😋)) (together, we are big brain)

WAAH Joseph Russell streamed on YouTube and talked about Lucien and all the stuff he plans to add! I'm so excited!! What he has currently has always felt like, incomplete, so I'm so fucking happy there's going to be another arch of story for him.

Three things he mentioned that most people won't know about Lucien:

He has an aunt named Silvia that he does not get on with; they have a hostile relationship. His Discord came up with a funny headcanon that he enjoys that Lucien's mom, Lyra, thinks she's Lucien's father's sister, and his father, Davidicus, thinks she's Lyra's sister, and it's just never come up in conversation. She's actually just some super natural entity that's wormed her way into their life. (The fuck??? LMAO)

Lucien's cat is inspired by Joseph's cat, Gray, who is very small and fluffy and sometimes cameos in his videos. Unfortunately we will never meet Lucien's cat. ("Probably.") He hasn't decided on the cat's name! ("Sorry! Wish I could tell you.")

And the third fact is that he once set fire to his shoes trying to boil potatoes. ("And that speaks for itself.") This white boy cannot cook!! But he can make tea.

He confirms that Lucien is 21 (lmfao knew it) and that he doesn't have a canon birthdate despite Lucien saying he thinks he's under the sign of the Lady ("thinks" being a big if) because Joseph wants to wait to see if wants to set in a particular date at a later time in case it is useful. So headcanon to your hearts content!

He'll make Serana comments some point in the future HALLELUJAH It felt so bland without Lucien asking her anything because I know he would pick her brain!!!!!!*

KJHASKDJAH okay so for those who have child dragonborn, Joseph says Lucien would be virtually useless aksjdhask he'd want to be supportive and teach them everything. He'd want to take them under his wing and teach them the signs and everything- but he'd be really irresponsible and bad at parenting. But he'd mean really well. So there ya go.

Lucien canonically does not being called Lucy. (Stares at my fanfiction with a snicker. It's okay, I call him Lu-Lu more often than not.) Davidicus would not like being called Dave, and Lyra would not like being called Ly-Ly.

We'll find out what Lucien wanted to see in the Elder Scroll in his third quest 👀👀👀👀 Staring so hard. GIMME.

He doesn't want to turn the resonant sphere into a teleport system, but rather make it something more lore friendly for you to call Lucien to you. I look forward to that because I actually planned something similar in my story too!

Someone asked Joseph if he thinks Dumzbthar could abandoned his aggressive side and live without the restrictions Lucien gives him and Joseph replies with, "No he's a demon. He's a Daedra. Don't forget that."

Chat: "Will Inigo ever let Lucien ever have a sweetroll?" Joseph: "No. Not without a fight."

Lucien would like black tea. But Joseph himself likes various other teas. (That's... so many teas my guy.)

He enjoys filling out Lucien's spell list when he plays with / tests Lucien. Lucien's favourite spell would be something having to do with restoration; maybe Healing Hands to heal others. Even if he gets super excited about Sparks, lol.

Something that raised an eyebrow from me; chat: "Will we ever find out what Clive really is and where he came from?" Joseph: "Yes... but probably not in the Skyrim mod."

Lucien was first more as a bard when he was created, and was originally going to be captured by a group of bandits. The scientist side of him wasn't so much of a facet at the start but built up over time. Joseph finds it that he became more interesting versus him remaining as a bard in his first instance of creation. I do too!

Chat: If Lucien could time travel to any point back in time, where would he end up and why?

Joseph: He would go back as far as he could to the very point of creation- he wants the secrets of the cosmos, he wants to know everything he could possibly know. He'd go to the very start to possibly see the world be made and then go to the end to see how it finishes. He needs those questions answered.

Joseph himself is unsure in his memory for which Dwemer ruin he's thinking of, but chat and he tentatively think he's thinking of Mzulft for Lucien's favourite Dwemer ruin in Skyrim!

Lucien doesn't worship any Aedra or Daedra, despite his awareness of their existence, and doesn't have any favourites.

Lucien isn't really embarrassed by much outside of when he puts his foot in his mouth, says something he doesn't mean, and then gets all flustered. He also is not embarrassed about his love and affection for his parents- he's quite proud of them and is happy to share that. :) Joseph likes the idea of him getting letters from his parents over time, and hopes to put that in in the future.

Lucien would ask Sheogorath many questions the Daedric Prince would probably not answer. (That's hilarious.)

Joseph has mentioned that he plans to bring Lucien into Starfield as an older version and vaguely mention the Dragonborn but he isn't certain how he'll go about it. He was asked by chat if Clive will be in Starfield (and subsequently how he would design a spacesuit for a horse). Joseph says probably not, as Starfield likely won't support horses.

Chat: What does Lucien do when he's in Falkreath and not with the LDB? Joseph: He leads a double life... as an... assassin wizard.... squirrel trainer..........

Chat: Who would win in a fight, Lucien or Lydia? Joseph: Lydia. She would destroy him. She'd snap him like a twig.

Lucien has probably never had chocolate, but if he did, he'd love it! (Stares lovingly at my Valentine episode)

Lucien is not afraid of average sized spiders! Just the bigger ones that try to eat him.

Chat: Has Lucien ever had fear overrule his curiosity and make him back down from adventure, or is he always the type to overlook danger in favor of knowledge? Joseph: Hmm... probably not so much as fear as caution. There's a lot of knowledge related to the Daedric Princes' that he has been cautious enough not to indulge in; however I think that's always a danger for him. I think if he were ever to- you know- to have a flaw, I think it would be to... pursue knowledge too much and he might not consider the consequences as much as he should. I think that is his biggest temptation in that regard. So perhaps fear and caution should make him back down more often than it would.

(Staring HARD at that and wondering if that'll play a big part in his third arc)

His third personal quest is hoping to be released later this year!!! Big year for soft wet sock of a man!!! (I hope!! No pressure Joseph!!!)

Lucien has absolutely no want to be a werewolf or vampire because of the implications of selling his soul, but he is interested in immortality because "think of the amount of knowledge he could get."

BOY. You're gonna get conned one of these days...

Joseph is learning the guitar, and says whenever he feels he's good enough and can play the Skyrim songs on guitar, he'll record them and have Lucien be able to play them on the lute!!! Exciting!!!

Lucien isn't keen on the Thalmor but is aware of the politic need to make niceties with them.

In the shadowhunter universe i think the circle has the most amount of fucked up relationships. Like everybodys got complex outside the norm relationships with at least two other members. The circle is so fascinating to me. The most popular and charismatic guy is evil and the few people who figure it out takes forever to do so. People are properly rebelling against their parents. They make themself a big menace as teenagers. And on the other side youve got the downworlders reaction to this. Tessa and Magnus are heartbroken. They give up on Stephen. There is so much going on but we are given so little.

YEAH i think the circle is such an underexplored aspect of the tsc universe!! i highly doubt we'll ever get any sort of series or even a full side book dedicated to them but the tidbits of info we do have from the short stories are so fascinating. it honestly brought some much-needed nuance to the tmi parents, bc even though we do have a few details about what went down (like the circle originally not being anti-downworlders, but sort of gradually moving in that direction after valentine's father died) i did feel like tmi left me wondering a bit how they all ended up as a part of an extremist group.

my favourite thing about the circle is that, at least at the start, they all have very similar views to the tmi gang: that the clave is corrupt in many ways (objectively true), and needs to be reformed. especially in tftsa it's a statement we hear simon say over and over and over again and i just LOVE that juxtaposition, the implication that if a different kind of person had gotten a hold of simon & clary and even the rest of the gang they could've ended up exactly like their parents.

and tbh, i just love reading about the circle and their drama and misery, lol. i love it when characters act really terribly i love it when characters manipulate & get manipulated and are then eaten alive by guilt. the evil we love is a gem, just robert experiencing flop after flop and ruining everyone's lives. and then becoming miserable for the rest of his life because of it. genuinely very fun. i think cc does morally gray characters very well (when she wants to, which is rarely </3) and i just love to watch miserable people be miserable what can i say!!

also, so true what you said about fucked up relationships. the circle didnt fit into the big love web i made for all of tsc because there's nothing linking them to any of the tmi/tid/tda/etc characters (thank god lmfao), but behold, i made them their own tiny love dodecahedron for funsies:

a version of dream of the red chamber set in the world of atla - how would it even look like? the mere concept itself is fascinating

omfg lmfao are you reading my texts somehow bc I was literally saying this just the other day:

now obviously even though ba sing se is inspired by qing dynasty china, it’s also modeled off of beijing, whereas the jias live in nanjing (with the exception of yuanchun). and other regions in the earth kingdom obviously do not map onto qing dynasty china. gaoling/the beifong estate is distinctly tang dynasty, and other locations in the ek are inspired by korean, vietnamese, etc. cultures (no, the ek doesn’t just = imperial china lmfao). but mapping this novel thematically does not necessarily require mapping it geographically.

honglou meng pertains very specifically to its setting and how class factors into the nature of its world as well as the dynamics among its teeming ensemble. so even if you replicated it among the beifongs in their tang dynasty furnishings, or among the fn royal family in their…distinct cultural mishmash, it would still necessarily be located within an aristocratic mansion. the act of “leaving the garden” (to borrow andrew plak’s phrase) is a universal one (and I do intend to someday write a larger piece on the space of the garden as a site of illusion in hlm, paradise lost, and utena!), but the specific disillusionment and fall from grace that cao so painfully and personally describes implies a certain myopic, delusional grandeur to begin with. it is a novel fundamentally concerned with illusion and the hollow trappings of power, which is why there is something so distinctly shocking about when the lius come to visit (one of my favorite episodes), as well as, of course, the entire tragic denouement as each beauty of jinling fades. so to map it onto atla requires focalizing a class that is distinctly unheroic within atla’s ideological framework, whether it be the cloistered and excising upper ring, the shallow and stifling beifong mansion, or of course, the perfidious evil of the fire nation royal family.

i’ve said before that baby zuko is just kind of swagless baoyu. baoyu if he had no rizz and the only girls he knew were his sister’s friends. the relationship w his father is similar, although ursa doesn’t carry the same power and respect that his grandmother does, so his situation is obviously more dire. like, at one point baoyu’s father beats him so badly that he cannot walk for a not insignificant period of time, not to mention that time his brother literally poured hot wax on his eye lmfao. but obviously zuko was born with the opposite of a jade in his mouth, he was always dismissed as worthless from birth. he would write an elegy for his lost childhood though. he would.

i see azula as a sort of combination of xifeng and tanchun, who are of course both quite similar figures, but have enough distinct differences that it would feel somewhat reductive not to combine them. each is poised, subtle, sharp, devious, and exacting. however, while xifeng is overbold, azula is obedient to a fault. azula is, fundamentally, ruled by fear. and tanchun’s status as having to prove herself due to the circumstances of her birth as well as living up to xifeng’s skill managing the household makes her more poised and refined in her position of authority. xifeng, for all her brilliance, is illiterate. she is incredible, but her refusal to submit begets enemies. yes, azula’s hubris is also her downfall, but it is a hubris of ideology, not of ego. she is fiery yet subdued, ruthless yet obedient. she is mindful of the rules, and succeeds within them. even as she enjoys wielding power, she knows her limits. it is unclear whether xifeng, for all her ingratiating social savvy, ever truly does.

now, as for mai and ty lee, the parallels between daiyu and baochai should be evident. daiyu is certainly more outspoken than mai, but the similarities in their dynamic are nonetheless clear to us, especially in terms of how both ty lee and baochai navigate their social roles through a very deliberate performance of constant acquiescence and pleasantness. a lot of my friends find baochai quite loathsome, but in fact i think that she is one of the most underrated characters in the novel, her social savvy almost frightening at times. i suppose you could also claim that ty lee is quite like xiren, then, as a highly savvy social climber, but that also depends on how you read ty lee’s class background. regardless, i find their respective modes of self-expression and interplay as perceived opposites (especially wrt daiyu and baochai, who literally form a triangle with baoyu) fascinating. not to mention that if mai ever overheard baoyu’s elegy to his lost childhood, she would also ruthlessly lambast his word choices in the guise of being helpful.

toph is shi xiangyun. no explanation needed there. yue also has major daiyu energy. i can’t think of any other aristocrats. but even beyond devising these fun 1:1 (or 1:2) analogues, how the themes of illusion map across both texts is very interesting to consider. the greatest illusion in atla is the illusion of separation and domination, whereas the great illusion of hlm is that of an eternal, idealized state of grandeur, as well as the perfect innocence of childhood friendship and freedom from the solemn constraints of adult life. so while both texts do intentionally shatter these illusions, atla’s shattering is a victory against the logic of imperialism, whereas hlm’s shattering is a tragic elegy to an idealized past. hence why i position zuko as baoyu, as he is fundamentally motivated by a nostalgia to reclaim the life he has since lost. then again, aang (known swagful 12 year old babychad, in possession of much rizz) is similarly motivated by a (far more potent, imo) nostalgic desire for reclamation of the past, and with it, his place in the world, so he has equal, if not more, claim to functioning as a baoyu analogue. (and i guess you could also read katara as a sort of daiyu figure, although far more assertive and powerful.) the land of illusion is manifold and deep; it contains room for everyone.

also, i am now just realizing that you may have just been implying “what if the jia family had bending” instead of whatever this long, stream of consciousness, pointless ramble was. well in that case they’d obviously be earthbenders, although daiyu would be a firebender and baochai would be a nonbender (obviously). but like. swagever.

The downside is that we can be really possessive and obviously if you have fire in your chart you can act more impulsively, I know I do lmao.😭 The work I’m dedicated to has to be perfect or I’ll get paranoid.🥲 8H is also associated with deaths & stuff like that so it makes sense that I’ve had a few personal deaths.

Side note: Tbh I think 18 & 22 degrees on my luminaries just made my life slightly harsher & complicated from the start. I literally feel like I live in one of those Wattpad stories where the girl was raised by her single mother who’s always working then moved in with her dad and his new family when she was a pre-teen then started being psychologically & emotionally abused at home and the dad knew about it but wasn’t doing anything about it and then the girl moves in with her mother a few years later and a few months after the father dies of an illness and the stepmother inherits everything.💀 No I’m jk that’s my own story irl.🥲

random updated/established sam family dynamic things I've added that I haven't had to chance to share yet (partially inspired because the current book I'm reading has a protag with strikingly similar dynamics as him and it's making me laugh lmfao):

Going from the most obvious/unchanged things but Sam is the oldest of five siblings; he has one full brother** (same mother and father) and 3 half-siblings (different fathers)

Grew up living with his siblings (Sanjari, Muthu**, Roshni, and Balan), mother (Somatra), maternal grandmother, his biological father (Dheivamani), Dad 2.0 (Khodi), and briefly Dad 2.5 (Iravan)

Muthu (short for Chinnamuthu) is one of the only siblings who actively seeks Sam out when it's necessary because he will only respond to him; he has never given up hope that one day Sam and him will reconnect like how they were when they were younger

Balan is the youngest and also wants to have a relationship with him, but Sam is less likely to engage with him. He and Roshni are full siblings; Roshni has very mixed feelings about everything LMFAO

Sanjari is the second eldest daughter, the only child with Iravan, and is the most resentful towards Sam, often getting hostile if he is even mentioned in front of her. Sam feels the same way towards her (more or less)

More of the heavier, longer details undercut; content warnings for mentions of familial death & injuries (and general family angst lololol)

Iravan was employed as a translator for different Prakran military groups and mainly traveled abroad (something Sam was extremely envious of, hint hint lol); he and Somatra eventually ended things after Balan was born, and he stopped sending money/letters all together

Somatra was a major figurehead in their village, known for her quiet poise and strength. Worked as the unofficial "captain" of a fishing boat and was an expert diver despite never being compensated as such. A little like a local legend in some ways lol

She was also a bit of Hoe (adoring), and while all the other siblings obviously knew she had her three (then two) life partners, she was also sleeping with several other people on the side. Sam is the only one of his siblings to know this (apple -> tree)

Dheivamani and Somatra met while he was a traveling poet; he traveled with a group of orators up until after Muthu was born. When Sam was a child, he severely injured one of his legs on his last trip, resulting in him losing it

(This was extremely traumatic for Sam and was really the beginning of him needing to step up as a secondary parental figure for the family; this is also why he is so paranoid about keeping his body in shape--yes this is me giving sam my very specific daddy issues LMFAO)

Sam attended school up until he was 15; he was expelled when he broke a chair over his teacher's head (deserved). As a result, Somatra gave him two options: leave to live with his extended family further west to complete his schooling OR remain home and take on an apprenticeship at the village's pearl farm.

Obviously he took the latter option, knowing his family would not thrive without him home and not wanting to leave them (he will not make that choice again)

Sanjari and Sam always butted heads as the eldest "daughters" and that tension was only exasperated when Iravan left. She was the only one to (correctly) assert that Sam had willingly left the family; all the others held onto the belief that he was taken/blackmailed into leaving (also slightly true?)

Somatra only slightly found out the truth when a group of soldiers showed up at her home demanding she give them information on Sam, informing her that he was wanted for his association with Mara, who by that point had become a notorious antimonarchist.

While she tried to keep this under wraps, Sanjari connected the dots together and informed the rest of the family that Sam had abandoned them for "that woman"; she has always been insistent on disavowing him due to the shame it brings their family

This effectively ruined her relationship with both Somatra and Dheivamani; Dheivamani has always rejected that Sam left them point blank and to this day believes he was spirited away essentially

After the truth was revealed, Somatra took a steep decline. She lived up until Sam took on his new identity as The Duke and died a few months later. Despite asking for him, Sanjari refused to let any of his siblings reach out to him, and Somatra passed without him knowing

Hey there, welcome! And thank you so much for your post, I would love to give thoughts! Boy would I love to never shut up about this entity lmfAO Though disclaimer, I want you and anyone else who reads this to know I'm not 100% sure I know Actual Poseidon so I am not claiming with certainty I work with him. Andddd this is going to be long for that reason - those reasons. I love talking about him but I do need to kind of set up a window into my view here so you can decide whether we're talking about the same entity or not 

To give you a background: I work chiefly with two deities, one of whom is not featured here and that's Hermes, the other would be the Possible Poseidon, but I mostly know him as Leviathan. Physically, I work with two other channellers and it's sort of a thing among us and Hermes (who works with and possesses all three of us alongside Leviathan) and the other spirits we work with including Demeter that Leviathan is Poseidon, though none of us really work with that name since he doesn't tend to present as Poseidon to us. At least not often. We have other forms/names of his more important to our practices, like Leviathan and Shiva. It's also not just Leviathan who says he's Poseidon; the Trinity of Leviathan, (brother), and (brother) all claim at least around us to be the Trimurti (Shiva, Indra/Brahma, Vishnu) as well as Poseidon, Zeus, Hades. So it's either true he is Poseidon or its a group effort lmao.

I am pretty damn sure though especially after seeing your post, not because I'm taking that as the sole informant to my opinion on him being or not being Poseidon, but because I have had a lot of evidence I have up until your post been ignoring, and that post made a lot of things click especially when I took it to Leviathan to be like "ok, damn, this is you?". I just am not able to be 100% sure because Ive had issues with spirits lying about who they are in the past

I say all that (that we work with him, i work wih a group, etc) specifically to highlight that while I put in the work and don't approve of seeing similar characteristics and saying "yep, these cross cultural deities are the same!" without actually putting in an effort to confirm through the deities themselves and multiple physical people I am.... VERY aware this is PVG and based on personal experiences with spirits, which means do not worry, I don't intend to convince you, your UPG and PVG are more important to your practice than mine. Maybe you and I are talking about the same entity, maybe not. But your post is the first time I've really started to actually understand what "I am Poseidon" might mean from Leviathan, because yeah, holy shit, everything on that is so bloody Leviathan and I don't think any of our group (again, we don't work with that name he's just told us so we dont really look into it) knew the name Poseidon was connected to those things. 

So yeah, I'll just talk about my experiences with Leviathan (and I'll call him Leviathan because whether he's Poseidon or not, he's Leviathan) that are relevant to the name Poseidon and that post you made, and you can decide for yourself if we're talking about the same entity or not. At worst, I guess you get to hear about a very similar entity, maybe that will be interesting. Lemme pop this under read more just to save my followers dashboards

Leviathan is an incredibly complex person, but at the core of his being he connects to the water cycles, the sky and ocean, the weather, the sun, the underworld as one of its rulers (or one of the rulers of one plane of the underworld), and has a complex relationship with humanity as one of its fathers. Oftentimes when he's around the three of us he makes it rain or otherwise changes the weather, he has a huge, encompassing presence that is often tied to water, watery depths, cold and dark - but not intimidating as a hollow dark night, he's comfortingly full and present and like the safe embrace of the water. That, I understood to relate to Poseidon. Leviathan is very oceanic, an ancient and wise deific being that's been around humans for a long time... Before your post what I understood of the god Poseidon was his connection to the ocean especially as his symbolic wife due to how Leviathan interacts with the ocean, his connection to horses which echoes in other names he's mentioned being him, and his part in the trinity of Hades, Zeus, Poseidon. Oh, and his trident. The trident is an important symbol of power and of the trinity of Leviathan + brothers and is used publicly as a symbol on their plane in the underworld, so that was also something I saw as relevant. You also see the trident as their symbol with the Trimurti in hinduism and in the stereotypical scapegoat of the Devil and probably other places too, its a big royal family trinity thing. That's pretty much all I knew though since as I said Leviathan didn't really work with us through that energy and name. The "I am Poseidon" thing already made sense given the impressions I get from those working explictly with the god Poseidon, he seems very stern and serious and fatherly, the ocean personified almost as a self-contained and private but hugely powerful thing... That made sense to me.

The ocean as his wife thing, that also made sense and to clarify what I meant by that - the Leviathan exists in many places at the same time, hes just a huge, encompassing father deity who can expend that sort of energy and divide his extensive awareness into multiple parts. He spends a lot of his time partly swimming in deep space which he equates to the depths of the ocean, and specifically he blurs with reality so much that it is like swimming in the ocean and being the ocean at the same time. The "ocean" he is in is so close to being his literal other half, actually I would say with how interconnected with reality he gets it literally is his other half, in the way of two halves of a persons body moving as one - but to humans the best metaphor probably would be he moves with and as the ocean like he and her are a couple who are so in tune with each other they move as a cohesive unit that can separate and reconnect at will. Leviathan moves the world around him like Poseidon and his waters. Leviathan does have multiple actual wives though so Amphitrite may be one of their names, but it definitely would check out symbolically. Actually, just googled her to make sure I was right about her being interpreted as the ocean (she is to some) - theres mountains being referened again... Ill get to his connection with those later.

Horses also made sense, they're core to Levithan's being, one of his sacred animals among other things like wolves, hawks/birds, bears, fish, etc. They're used in war which he is deeply tied to, they're a pinnacle of something core to him which is a relationship between animals/animal forms and the being, especially in regards to taking animal forms and becoming them in order to get things done since when riding horses you and the horse must become one. They're tied deeply to one of his chief homes here on Earth and the people there who associate him with them. I've been reconnecting with my link to the Sky through him and the Storm Mother, who is an entity closely tied to and close with Leviathan, and I remember it keeps coming up with them that I see the sky as shown by them as this amalgamation of horses almost like Sleipnir with the many legs, but with many heads, legs, etc. I can't explain this quickly without sacrficing a tonne of context, but effectively Leviathan teaches that the sky is inhabited by a bunch of bodies moving together in complex ways that create the weather system and whatnot, and while I don't understand them well this lifetime I know very well that Leviathan and Zeus possess these bodies to bring in storms and rain and such. It's a lot like working with and riding horses, is what I'm saying. In my workings with Leviathan the sky and the ocean are one, mirrored selves, and so I absolutely understand the idea of Poseidon and his horses tying not just to the fact that he literally rides horses, but also to the ocean (and the sky) as his horses... His mind is filled with horses and what they represent to him.

But here's the thing: While I knew Leviathan was connected with the ocean, I and our group so much more saw him as the rain and the rivers and the water cycle in general. Its something that pops up in the name Shiva; before I knew he was Shiva I knew of Leviathan with rainwater pouring from his hair, and I later came to find out that the Ganges river is supposed to be coming from his head and hair... He's always shown me that hair = personal power and energy, so to him the water cycle and bestowing and removing water from places is core to his being. Hell, I even have a character representing him called "River" lmfAO  He's also associated with mountains both in PVG and also as Shiva. Shiva lives in a mountain, mountains are where the earth touches the sky, theyre also the sources of many rivers, they dance with the sky without moving. They're the imagery of his asceticsm, his knowledge, his removal yet presence in humanity, of him as a tall and watchful father, and of his teachings as hard to surmount and challenging but open to anyone to try and climb. One of the first visions I had of him was something like his body (giant and bigger than mountains) being pierced by swords and drained and draped over a mountain in order to feed the earth, a commentary on the relationship between mountains and the sky - clouds are torn down at mountains to feed the earth. That vision may have been from Zeus given some of the commentary on Poseidon in it lines up with how Zeus sees Poseidon... But the brothers have known each other longer than our plane has existed, so its not like the bit I explained of the mountain thing was inaccurate

And that I think ties into the relationship you pointed out with Demeter and Poseidon if I'm understading right. He talks a lot about Mother Earth, in a lot of his names and just as a person he's tied very romantically to the Earth as an archetypal goddess figure, the idea of Mother Earth as his other half (as a partner as opposed to the literal other half of the ocean) and a partner with which he dances, loves, entangles himself, is constantly reoccurring in his work with our group. Even when he doesn't mean to explicitly talk about the Earth he does and in such a loving, vital way, the way an enamoured husband would talk about his wife... Point being, the metaphor of water and earth, Sky and Earth, ocean and land, rivers and valleys, plants and weather, etc, is absolutely fundamental to Leviathan's entire existence. He sees himself as a Sky Father deity, which is something that makes sense in the other names I know from him, but Poseidon always seemed (in my willful ignorance, I hadnt had a reason to look into Poseidon) to be so tied to the ocean which seems to, by nature as its the part of the water cycle that is, detached from the earth. The ocean is the water that cannot meld with the earth, it is filled with salt...

Idk I think with the myth you posted... This is just my own interpretation, but "the ocean, salty and derimental to earth-bound life, is not wanted by Mother Earth. If they met and mated it would not be wanted by her, it would cause so much destruction to life out of the ocean. In order for life to continue and for this union to happen, the Sky Father needs to not just take a form that is congruent with the Earth Mother's workings (she takes a form that he can match, plants merge with water to form life, not rocks or dirt), but also he takes the form that is representative of (Poseidon)'s connection to the Sky like the horses in the sky and then representative of his land-bound an land-traversing form, which is specifially horses. It probably doesnt go well given how harsh weather, associated with the raging sleipnir-esque horses I mentioned earlier, can ravage the land - what she needs like plants do is to be gently steeped in the water from the rain in order to properly foster new life. She gets it, she gets the harshness of the sky, and then steeps in the water of the right manifestation of the Sky Father, the right part of the water cycle as it finally settles in the land as a fixed body of water". It depends on how metaphorical the story is and allllll the context im missing, Im so sure that this myth is way more about the origins of that goddess than a metaphor for her parents, but it makes a lot of sense to me how its gotten across especially with the fact that horses are how he gets around when bound to the earth. It just like. Resonates. Not saying I actualy get the myth but it resonates. yeah thats the word Ill use

And speaking of "earthquakes (opening) fissures in the land, and rivers were sometimes thought of as the entrances to the underworld" - reminds me of something he was telling me the other day about "entering the underworld" (he says hell, but hell is a metaphor for states of suffering): "Who controls the doorway to Hell? The mind teeters on the brink of discovery. The adventurous humans fall into sleep, deep down, dense matter, condensing like rain droplets hanging tantalisingly above the thirsty desert, but they do not fall until the consciousness drops to a place it can be lapped up by the hound." It was metaphorical I know, but he never does things for no reason, and the vision in my head he showed me accompanying the words is so clearly of someone fallling asleep, and falling through their bed as it turns to clouds specifically in the sky as if the clouds are the gateway - and like all sky related things with Leviathan its inherently related to the ocean and water. Clouds are suspended bodies of water, and this isnt falling from the bed to the sky then through clouds, its clouds being the gateway, what the bed and plane dissolves into to become the gateway to the underworld. Oh! And later on in the same post lmfao he literally said "Climb the spires to the clouds, rewrite the center of your mass from dense rain, follow yourself back to the form of the river." as to how you ''get out of hell'', basically he was saying the process that happened with the clouds to get to hell, you reverse itto get out of hell, so the water cycle takes you there and back. alright damn!

Your connection to human waterworks too just bloody blows my mind, whether it was a thing or not in antiquity its just... I understand it makes sese that a water god rules over water displacement, but another thing he was telling me the other day: "The rain falls from the sky into the earth and arranges itself into ordered, purposeful motions, siphons, dances with molecules shifting the ground and being shifted by it. It moves through channels carved out by dense matter, mechanical roads through plantlife and organic bodies, hydraulic machines, watershed siphons, generator sparks through tributaries… (...) Machine is a thing between states, organically placed between alcoves in creation, parted waters and the small allowance of a river between." He was specifically in that post and in general to me talking about how the connection between earth and rain is comparable to that of a machine, specifically talking about how he relates the two. He associates himself and I associate him for very valid reasons lmfao with machinery and technology (reasons being his and his brothers involvement with the evolution of technology on his plane and overseeing it here), so he was explaining how it works in his mind that the water cycle is connected to machines. Its like... Waterworks are so.... Exactly what hes talking about. The Earth is a hydraulic machine and like aqueducts siphoning water from place to place - and he as the water cycle is like waterwork machinery, hes the drive and siphoning between water locations, the connection between earth and water is like machinery, etc. And as a conscious being he decides where it goes which means hes like a pupose built aqueduct or siphon or etc so much more than just the nebulous "where will water go we just dont know" - no, hes not nebulous, he's mechanical AND purposeful like humans building structures to control the course. Of course he very well may have been symbolically connected to and invoked for this stuff's physical applications.

"I see (...) a Majestic Stallion (...) the King of Rivers (...) a liminal god (...)  a Father of Mysteries whose teachings allow mortals to harness the awesome power of water and tread the flowing currents between our world and the underworld" That is so absolutely 100% a statement I would echo in its entirety about the god Leviathan. That's been basically my entire work with him. Horses, rivers... And very, very liminal. He is so close in nature and for personal reasons to the Void, the liminal space in-between everything, and presents as such... He's so in-between and outside the understanding of humans, but also so present. Liminal absolutely. And a Father of Mysteries... Most of the spirit work discussions (as opposed to all the casual conversations) we as a group have had with him have related to the unravelling and visceral presentation of core key secrets and mysteries of the world. Working with him is like having the viscera of the world served up on a platter in front of us cleaned and gleaming, his revelations do not hold back and contain views and information that unsettles and off-puts the biased, unready mind, like the vastness of the ocean off-puts the unequipped, but the secrets he reveals are not malicious, theyre an opportunity to transcend the boundaries between yourself and this world, yourself and your deeper self/mind, to destroy ignorance if you're willing to meet him halfway. If you prepare yourself and brave the ocean, you will find things you never dreamed you could find. If you know his arts, if you're initiated into his patronage, you will see things you never dreamed would be possible to understand nor experience. And a lot of what he teaches either is explicitly water and sky related or else its taught in ways that reference and use the water cycle as a baseline....

Soren is like, so Denji. He’s more jock and like, wholesomely stupid? Maomao is just wholy uninterested and asocial, which, yeah, Asa much. Jinshi’s cute curiosity in Maomao is pretty Denji. But then it’s kinda like asaden reverse roles because Jinshi is tired af and bitter and childish and petulant, but he acts very elegant and flirty in public & for Maomao (at first), so it’s kinda like Asa & Yoru trying to woo Denji Lmfao. And then Maomao being untinterested and blunt af is very Denji when he isn’t happy with Asa, like when he wanted to avoid her and cuss her out just before she asked him out on a date. I'm bad at thinking on the spot, but I have some firm faves, lol. (Disclaimer, I accidentally wrote you an encyclopaedia, sorry!)

1. Jill. REmake was my first game early this year and I played as her. It's what sucked me into fullblown brainrot lmfao. I've played most of the series now and for the most part, Jill has remained one of the most consistent and realistic female characters throughout the series (imo). I mean, I've never looked at my screen an thought "has the director ever seen her character before? What the hell is this?" Which in RE is a rare occurrence lmfao! She isn't super, overly sexualised and I honestly just thoroughly enjoy her personality and story. She knows who she is and what her goals are. Death Island absolutely solidified this for me. It made me feral, I stg. Her arc was phenomenal. I want a brand new Jill campaign. I need her as a main game character again soon. She's one of the best. SHE SHOULD HAVE BEEN THERE WITH CHRIS KILLING WESKER INSTEAD OF SHEVA SOMEBODY HAS TO SAY IT. An original that holds her own. Just... *chefs kiss*.

2. Claire. Similar reasons to Jill. She has clear motivations and a good arc. Her campagin is my favourite part of RE2make and I think it's shamefully underrated. I found her realtionship with Sherry a lot more significant than Leons and honestly, her A playthrough was just... better? That's perisnal opinion though. I wish they'd let this woman buy a new outfit. She's worn the same jacket since '98. Recycling queen I guess, lmfao. I don't think people really give her enough attention or credit. She's incredibly kind and patient but could also beat me to a pulp. Phenomenal.

3. Chris. Okay, a few iffy portrayals but he's overall a very solid character. I like him so much because he's a "terrifying but actually very soft and huggable" trope in my mind, lmao. I can't shake the Awkward Father vibe, no matter how many 400lbs machine guns he plays around with. I just think he's very tired and wants to watch a football game with friends. Give him a break.

4. Ethan Winters. It's fucking Ethan Winters. Ethan and Rose were excellent new additions to the cast. I adored them. They were something different, refreshing, realistic (minus the lego man hands... dude's made of mold tho so...) and just very likeable. Dude just chills in the background at functions wanting to go home.

5. Leon. Leon's equally one of the most interesting but frustrating protagonists. I think his OG progression is a complete mess. There's some parts I love, some parts I think make zero sense. I always got the sense that they wanted to be ambitious with Leon, but didn't know what the audience would and wouldn't accept. Does this man have a personality? Yes, we'll hint at one, but we absolutely must adhere to naughts cringe hero stereotype just incase. He often leaves me perplexed, but I enjoy him. He's fun to nitpick and study (and make fun of!!!) and he arguably has one of the most interesting long-term stories. I think remakes are going harder to bring this to light. At it's core, the Leon story is about his relationship with corruption, the government and how he deals with it and who to trust. It could be... SOMETHING. I think we're getting there. The changes in remakes are making it more and more possible. They're taking risks and it greatly benefits him as a character overall. He makes sense. He's understandable.

REmake Jill is my favourite Jill. Her kick ass determination and personality are just so good. She was my first ever example of a strong female character as a kid, and she's always been my absolute fave. Totally agree with you that DI sold her to me even more. She desperately needs a new campaign in a mainline game ASAP, I've missed her too damn much.

I feel like Claire has had most hate in the franchise (in my personal experience, at least), and honestly, I don't get the whole "Claire is so annoying" crap I've seen people say in the past. She has good motivation. A college student going to search for her S.T.A.R.S member brother when she doesn't hear from him, only to survive a hellish night amidst a viral outbreak and cure a child? So badass.

Chris is 100% awkward dad vibes despite his badassery and boulder punching skills, no doubt about it. He's more sensitive than people understand him to be. (Which literally makes no sense, considering how broken he is whenever someone he cares about doesn't make it, lol). Let this man live, put his feet up and relax.

Ethan, my guy. I fucking love him so much. I remember how so many people hated him, back when RE7 first came out. "Oh, but he's just some random guy who is looking for his missing wife. How boring." Uh, isn't that what makes him so much more interesting? He's not an agent, or a S.T.A.R.S member, or whatever like the others are. He's a man willing to go above and beyond to save someone he loves. He gets put through so much shit and still selflessly sacrifices himself. What a guy.

Leon is a hot mess (affectionately). Capcom wanted to do things with OG Leon, and they just didn't know how to go about it. He's definitely a fun one to pick apart and analyse. You're right, though. I definitely think they could really polish what kind of character they want him to be with future installments since they've already gotten him to a pretty decent place already. I've always loved him, but he sure has been a roller coaster ride, hahaha.

[A lil bit meaning A Lot]

So Hank and Eb do not like each other n all that, that how it is right now, however, in the future, they start to kind of come around to one another. Cause like, they're very different people, but they have mutual problems and understandings that they can get along well enough to do their job, and like, help each other out every now and then. Both of them get each other on a personal level, and while they don't like the traits of each other that they don't share, they still share traits that make them similar and therefore able to relate and sympathize with the other. I don't think Hank is a heartless monster, I think he's a dude thats had a lot of problems in his life and they've tried to wall themself off from having connections with people because of it. But he's still vulnerable to forming friendships, and eventually relationships.

So, at the moment, they can't stand one another. But, the longer they work together, the longer they hang around in the same living space, the longer they do stuff with their coworkers and boss and associates, and the longer they have to spend time around another, they very, very, very slowly form a connection.

I've explored a lot of this dynamic in some of the art that I can not share on this blog no matter what, but its a very slow and tortuous turnaround, though thats mostly on Hank's end. He doesn't want to feel things for other people and he's slowly starting to feel things for her and he's in agony over it. Eb's much more passive about it, she knows how to deal with her emotions and work through whatever she may feel about him as she slowly goes from hating his guts to being able to see him as a potential partner.

Now don't get it mixed up, its not that she moves on from Tricky to Hank, she loves BOTH of them! As well as Pathos of course but Pathos' involvement is something s0uless would have to elaborate further on, jist id that Pathos is Also interested in Hank in addition to being together with Eb n Tricky (and Jeb but he's not relevant here). Eb is still madly in love with Tricky and Pathos but Hank just kind of walked into her heart by accident and she isn't complaining. Why not add another to the polycule!

So after a while, and after a good while of them accepting their feelings for each other and navigating what a relationship with each other looks like, by pure random chance, they get their little family started, not only with Eb having a set of twins fathered by Hank n Tricky, but also by Pathos having a kid with Hank too. And like, they already all basically had a bunch of kids, like the chart says the family tree is fucking CRAZY and needs a lot of explaining to be fully understood, but those three babies being born at the same time kind of cements the family as whole.

girl what are your toxic sam headcanons !!???!!!

i’ve gotten shit for these before so i’ve never publicly shared them but. let me go ahead and save my ass:

i do not think sam would do this. he is my favorite character in game (and up there in my fave characters of all time. i think he’s lovely and i don’t think he’s childish like a lot of people believe. i am stating this, with my own experience with men in similar situations, and the fact that i was 2 classes away from getting my degree in psychology before i changed my major. 

here is a further sam analysis i’ve posted before, and here is a jodi analysis i’ve done. i use both of these when i think about sam.

alright here we go. there's only a few because i don’t think he’d be like this canonically LMFAO

i feel like sometimes in a fight he’d just shut down emotionally. if he is the problem, he would have a hard time accepting it as his fault (i’m talking about a big fight, not a simple you didn’t do the laundry fight). 

nearing like… silent treatment. not as an intended punishment for his partner, but because he simply doesn’t want to deal with a fight.

simply does not want to feel any more negativity than he already does about himself and his family situation. even if he were fully moved out, i think he'd still carry a lot of that with him still. 

bad emotional stability from being in an unstable house. if this even were the case i think it’s something that would remedy over time… but i think he’s bad at regulated negative emotion with himself. he spends so much time helping out vincent, who has his own child-like struggles navigating the world, the instability of his mother, his father, and their relationship. 

i also imagine that he likely takes the brunt of his friend’s problems too. seb, abigail, penny, etc. he’s always taken pride in being a good rock for others, but he’s horrible at taking care of himself emotionally. i imagine him to probably feel some sort of guilt or self-pity for the situation his family is in. 

which is why i feel like he would have a hard time with caring for himself in having healthy, negative emotions. especially from jodi’s CANON dialogue about her being unhappy with her family life… don’t even try to tell me someone that is as mature and emotionally intelligent as sam wouldn’t pick up on it. 

ugh. realistically talking (luckily this is a fictional video game <3) but it would definitely carry over into his relationships. there’s a lot of trauma unhealed and currently going on with sam, specifically stress at the focus of others (vincent) that would likely make him easy to blow up or crack under any type of pressure. 

maybe more so from someone he loves. maybe seeing parallels, even vaguely, of him and his partner to his father and mother would immediately turn nuclear. more from anxiety and fear than anything, but regardless, i think it would be added stress on him in fear of ending up like both of them.

i also think he doesn’t respond to any criticism and issues well. i think that before vincent was born, jodi likely swept any imperfections sam had under the rug, and that stopped when vincent arrived.

as in, sam was constantly praised as an only child and could do no wrong, but once vince came along it flipped around. i think sam was very confused for a long time until finally figuring out… everything.

i love kaladin and adolin both having #daddyissues in row and i have a lot of thoughts about this as a college student with #parentissues similar to kaladin’s and adolin’s in a very nebulous sense, but what i will say is that though the core underlying cause of these clashes is the emerging ideal and worldview differences that naturally happen when growing up and becoming independent from your parents (and also dalinar directly causing evis death lmfao), it CERTAINLY isnt helping that both kaladin and adolin are living in close quarters with their parents while in their early twenties. with kaladin this is less of a Thing because he lived independently of his parents for years and this is like Moving Back In With Them, but with adolin its like holy shit if this was Modern Times and adolin was able to move out with shallan into a studio apartment an hour away from dalinar’s house and they only saw each other in person at holidays and only texted each other on adolin’s terms and were able to give each other space until adolin can process his grief and anger to the point where the “i love my dad because he is my dad and he is trying”-”i hate my dad because my mom is dead as a direct result of his actions and he can never undo it” dichotomy has swung closer to the former than the latter, which could happen in a year or five years or twenty years or never happen at all, then i could see a scenario where adolin is able to thrive and dalinar is able to genuinely work on himself and they both are able to have a cordial or even close relationship again in the future. instead theyre both living in the same urithiru hallway and seeing each other pretty much every day and adolin is a highprince with a whole wife but he still has his dad breathing down his neck about him going to applebees with his buddies and dalinar is always saying shit like “adolin..... i was such a cringe fail father..... i am capable of great growth.... please forgive me for my war crimes.....” and its just a fucking mess

Ive been raped many times as an adolescent and young adult. Im ngl, My room is kawaii and stuffed animals due to my trauma. I do have kinks I will not publicly talk about due to the hatred of others being “triggered”. I also was molested by another child at school at the age of 5. I don’t think people truly understand that trauma can have you feeling so empty that sucking on a binky and cuddling your stuffies is the only way to feel security and the nuture that was never provided as a child. STOP making people feel like shit. YOUR the problem. Not the people who behave a certain way to cope with their abuse. You have your ways of coping so let people cope. Also the hate received towards belle delphine and her kinks being very similar to mine is what makes me uncomfortable. Nobody is pedo baiting. Just UGH. Im so sick of hate. It disgusts me.
