When will Americans learn their ideas of race are complete rubbish outside America? I'm Romanian, I made a post about Romanian history, now Americans are fighting in the notes about whether Romanians are white. Most of them have convinced themselves the Turks are also white so they don't have to admit Europeans can be victims of racism.

If a character was never written to be any particular race and just so happened to end up played by a black or mixed race guy because he was the right actor for the part, then having the character played by a white guy in the reboot does not equal “whitewashing”. Get your facts right before you criticise.

People objecting to making post-canon fankids, or pregnancy / kidfics saying that its "reducing [female character] to just a babymaking machine" by FORCING her to have kids.

Yeah, having kids isn't a goal for everyone (heck I don't want kids) so treating it as such a compulsory thing is no good, but it's also pretty sexist to imply that once a woman has kids her life is basically over, and she's only "mommy" forever now, she can never do anything else with her life after. People don't act this way when men have kids.

It's especially dumb because there ARE women in high positions of power or in leadership roles, doing important things or pursuing their own goals and have also had kids within the same canon. And IN REAL LIFE by the way???

Anytime i hear someine say "this character is gay" i always just think "are they gay gay or tumblr gay?" Gay gay is actually confirmed gay

When will people understand that there isn't "neutral on anti-anti discourse"? You think harassing people over what they enjoy in fiction is okay or you don't. If you think harassment is wrong "EXCEPT for those GROSS ships🤢" you're anti. If you personally dislike certian ships but still don't think people deserve harassment over it, you're anti-anti. Kids. If you are going to watch shows that are literally older than you are, you have to accept that they were made in an earlier decade. They are not going to be “woke”, as you call it. If a show contains jokes or language that wouldn’t fly anymore and makes you feel uncomfortable, you can either lump it or not watch. Complaining about it on your blog achieves nothing.

Lets say there is a movie with a 12 year old male main character

Now lets say in the movie he starts to date a girl his age from school, people would be like “aww they are so cute together, they are so sweet, so cute, so adorable”

Now take that relationship but change the girl to a guy and now people will be like “omg why are you sexualizing kids???”

When fan artists in a manga/anime fandom draw a character from the Osaka region as just straight-up black. I know it's because mangakas tend to use a slightly darker skin tone to distinguish from the usually Kanto-centric main characters (and translators usually use a Southern US or New York accent to mark Kansai-ben), but I really wish American (and it's ALWAYS Americans!) artists would learn that other countries are not perfectly homogeneous.

Related to problem #3168, as someone who is bi, I agree as there are some people in the fandom who really do think that making a character LGBT “improves” their character. I have no problems with LGBT headcanons as I wrote some myself as well, I just don’t want to see people going to war over a sexuality headcanon.

General rule of thumb I think some people on this site have forgotten. Typically the thoughts and actions of the villain character does /not/ equal "the writers think this is good and correct". Stop acting like it does. If that were true, do you think that character would be the villain?
