Small announcement concerning the upcoming update
I've been going through the code for the new chapters again, and decided that I will NOT continue updating the choicescript version.
There are now a lot of little odds and ends, bits of flavourtext and the now infamous horsename shenanigans that I cannot (yet) pull off in CS.
So, when I'm done with the update, I will leave a note on the version on dashingdon redirecting people to the twine version on itch.

An Outlaws Guide to naming your god-damn horse.
A little preview/guide of what you can name your horse in the coming update:
Horsenames can be up to 30 characters (including spaces)
Horsenames can consist of up to three words (hyphenated words count as one word, but can't be checked for naming easter eggs)
You can name your horse after almost every NPC (with a few exceptions) and most of the NPC horses (again, with a few exceptions)
Two words names can end up using Charlie's full name for your horse, including varieties, you can combine Charlie's name with NPC names, but you cannot name you horse after the full names of other NPCs.
Three word names don't allow to use any of Charlie's names, nor elements of the other NPCs, except a handful of proper word-names.
You can, of course, name your horse 'Horse'. Other languages might follow, input is needed here.
Still polishing the code, and after a recount it is at 15k words...
All for small comments from the NPCs along the way...

Important question, please answer in comments:
Going through ch7 (formerly ch8) again, contemplating to add in a scene of Charlie pulling you into a sobby hug because, like you almost died and everything.
Now it got me thinking: Is everyone alright with bits like that? Not everyone is fine with physical contact, so I'd rather ask. Should I leave that bit as is (while npcs will usually ask for hugs etc otgerwise*), make a choice at the start to set your MC is not keen on physical contact or something else entirely?

Added in a choice in the next chapter about the MC realising their severe injuries are healed miraculously. Choices are:
-Tell Charlie about the strange dream.
-No, really, tell him.
-You had multiple severe injuries that healed completely in less than two days, and the dream is the best explanation you can offer. Tell him.
Thoughts?
EDIT: I should note that this is about yet another dream (as well as the previous two, depending on what you've already told him)

"Hey, you know what? The horsename thing? You know that it would be much easier to restrict it to ONE word names and THEN have an NPC ask if that's short for anything? It would also make it easier to avoid bugs all together in that bit'

Heads Up:
In the upcoming update, setting your race etc will be split. Now when talking to Lynwood, you will be able to set what you look like in that regard, with details coming later. Thus allowing a broader variety in terms of cultures, which def is the better approach.
Thank you.
Also, bonus, the dialogue, for those who don't want to wait:
"'Someone like me'? Why? Because I'm [X]?" you sneer. Lynwood, in turn, looks alarmed, and rather taken aback.
"What? No, that's not what I meant. You are a criminal, that's why. Where you come from has nothing to do with this."
You harrumph, bemused.
"Not the same thing, y'know. An' ya couldn't even tell where I come from."
Lynwood frowns.
"[name], we do have a file on you, and with a name like yours..."
"I'm a con artist, how truthful do you reckon yer file is?" You feel mildly offended.

Right, am I actually putting too much work into this? Am I wasting everyone's time by making sure the game will acknowledge doubled names and other naming shenanigans (Like naming your MC something like 'Charlotte 'Charley' Charles, or 'Charley 'Mulligan' O'Bryan', or naming your horse 'Horse'*, or naming yourself after a bunch of RDR2 characters**) instead of just updating the damn thing?
Thoughts?
I am having fun with this bullshit, but the way through it is taxing.
*. (includes 'Horse' in various languages, including (P)ferd/Gaul/Ross/cheval/étalon/mǎ/maa/caballo etc)
** (Yes, including misspelling Dutch's last name by dropping the 'e' off it. Gives a little bonus dialogue once totally-not-based-on-arthur Isaac finds out.)

Raspberry, vanilla, and some herb which's name currently aludes you. Not the weirdest smells you have ever woken up to, but certainly some of the nicer ones. You groan and push yourself up, taking in you surroundings. A small plain room with and equally small and plain, but very comfortable, bed. And on a table opposite the bed, dimly lighting the scene, the moon.

See this? This is the testground version of HALF the horsename code >_>
testhorse 1 & 2 checks for a single name, 3&4 are two names, 5 & 6 are three. 1,3,5 are for if the horse shares a name with charlie.
the other half (not pictured) is for setting a short version of a horsename (if more than 1 word) and THEN checks for overlaps with NPCs again...
