Winter Tour 2022/2023 🚐☀️🍊🌴🍊🌴🍺🇪🇸 28 days, 4821km, We didn’t gone as deep south as on previous winter tours but thanks to the good weather it wasn't necessary this time. In the midst of millions of orange trees and palm trees, sometimes 50km south of Valencia, sometimes 100km north or a few days in the city itself. Two nice new camper spots found, also thanks to the ADAC camping card ;-) , A highlight besides the weather were the bike paths in and around Valencia. Illuminated, wide, well-developed paths into the city, well-connected bike paths in the city. Top! 県民性なのかなぁ

日本で22件目の世界文化遺産に

故郷長崎と現住地天草の潜伏キリシタン関連遺産が登録されました

今朝配達車で長崎のAMラジオ聴いてたら（オーディオはAMラジオのみ）

午前中の3時間くらい全て使って

潜伏キリシタン関連の解説をゲストを招いて実に分かりやすく詳しく解説する番組やってました（NBC長崎放送）

ちょうど渋滞やらなんやらで1時間半くらい聴いてだけどホントに勉強になりました！

『なんで潜伏キリシタンがすごいの？』って質問に答えれますか？

迫害に耐えて宗教を貫いたから？

違うんです（それが全てでは無いんです）

聴いてた人はわかる！

長崎すごいなぁ

民法NBCの午前の枠ぶち抜きで今回の認定関連番組やるなんて

どれだけの人が聴いてるかは分からないけど

熊本天草で同様の内容を考え、語れる人がどれくらいいるのかなぁと思った次第です

熊本はメディアで何か関連番組組んでやる予定とかあるのかな？

無いだろうなぁ・・・

例えば県民の関心に訴える、知識を与える、我々はホストとしての役割があるんだよって伝えるというスタンスは

長崎だからできる（やる）んだよなぁって

県民性なんでしょうね

小学校の頃から原爆やらキリシタンやら身近な存在でしたからね

rando game

You know that game where you look around you and guess who is the spy? If you can’t guess who it is, it’s you. There’s a party version of the game, but it’s called ‘Rando’. A party is defined by the quality of its randos (to steal a great line from busblog). You know, the guy that has that awesome story from that time about the thing, or brings the host’s favorite type of liquor or is just witty as shit. Well, I was at this party and looked around, and sure enough, I was one of the randos. This is a good enough crowd where there were several and all hella interesting.

The crowd was some people I know from odd salon (Hi Barbara and Justin!), and a bunch of new folks. I got there, took a bunch of pictures, but I was drinking straight gin at first, so the latter ones aren’t so great. I ended up hanging out and talking with people till there were maybe half a dozen hangers-on, and took a drunken cab ride home. A wonderfully pleasant evening.

人は死ぬ

必ず死ぬ

9歳にして最愛の人の死を間近に見て人の死に対して冷静に考えるようになり

40歳を過ぎてからの難病発症

いよいよこの先の人生いかに生きるかを考えた

ただひとつ

今の自分の人生は誰のせいでもなく自分のせいでこうなっているわけで

この先将来的に自分の身に起こるだろうことも全て自分の責任

そうやってそう思って生きていくこと

誰かのせいにするから腹も立つし嫌になる

その時間がもったいない

なので嫌なことがあれば、（あっ自分のせい）と思うこと

「俺のせい、仕方ない」と口に出す

だって自分が可愛いからそこまで自分を責めることはしない（笑）

全ては無理だけど8割がたの嫌なことはこれで切り抜けれます

明日死ぬかもわからんのに

嫌なこと嫌いな人のこと考える時間なんてもったいなくて

そんな時間あれば、どうやればもっと稼げるか、どうやればもっとサーフィンが上手くなるか、そんなこと考えてたほうがずっと楽しい

そういや高校の国語の先生が言ってた

「お前ら今夜の12時に死ぬと思って生きろ！」ってさ

Perfect Pandemic Day

It’s not that our bar is low, now—but it is in a peculiar place.   

This week I woke up sore from yoga (one of my favorite instructors has been posting YouTube videos), drank too much coffee, put on my face, fixed my hair and conducted zoom interviews. Those interviews were pretty phenomenal. Michael C. Hall (Dexter) is in a band with one of Chantal Claret’s former band mates, that was awesome. Brent from Shinedown schooled us all. Vanessa Carlton and I had some mom-bonding moments?! Yeah, that happened.   

I let my baby crawl around on the concrete outside, grab at leaves and petals. We met the neighbors. Des practiced his waving skills.   

I ate homemade tortilla soup (mine) with homemade tortillas (Tim's). We went to the food bank because Tony Pierce AKA busblog said they have so much extra produce we wouldn’t be stealing from poor people and holy guacamole he came home with like 30 bananas, 9 mangoes, 30 eggs, toasted macadamia nuts, salsa roja, CHICKEN (we gave them away), honeydew melon, tortillas, celery… all for a $40 donation.   

I got a pay cut but I still have a job. I am grateful.   

I exchanged passionfruit for garbanzo beans and some lentils. It feels very old school, but heart-warming. And belly-filling. It’s a strange time but maybe from it will come new ideas. New perspectives. I still hope you’re OK.
