recently acquired some colored micron pens and decided to fuck around with them a bit. i also messed around a bit with my colored pencils too, which was fun. normally i don't fuck with colored pencils, but after these two pieces i'm seriously considering messing around with them more.

both of these characters (cenryx on the left and sylvus on the right) heavily prefer he/him pronouns with only the occasional they/them. if you refer to either of these characters with she/her pronouns or other feminine terms in the notes, i will block you and delete your reply and/or hide your reblog from the notes. do not misgender my characters.

cenryx really wanted me to make a dramatic digital painting of him even though he's only been in my head a little bit over a week now. this painting was a giant pain in the ass but everyone i've shown it to has gone apeshit telling me how cool it is so i guess i'll still post it bc i'm pretty happy with it even though i felt like a raccoon scribbling on a piece of paper i got from the trash the entire time.

4. What’s a hobby they used to have that they miss?

sylvus: sylvus did enjoy dancing as a kid but saleth made fun of him for "looking stupid" when doing so which caused sylvus to stop dancing unless he was completely by himself.

cenryx: singing. he enjoyed it as a kid but after Some Bullshit in his backstory he had a. lot of voice dysphoria. he kind of speech therapy'd himself into talking a certain way, but can't quite get his singing voice to have the same timbre, so as a result he does not like singing unless he's completely by himself.

16. What kinds of people do they have arguments with in their head?

sylvus: literally any time someone even MENTIONS saleth sylvus starts having an argument with them in his head. takes almost NO provocation to start sylvus onto a yelling-at-saleth-in-his-head screed.

cenryx: definitely imagines yelling at people in the seers who fucked with his self esteem. esp darnell.

25. What subject / topic do they know a lot about that’s completely useless to the direct plot?

sylvus: tbh i feel like sylvus has a LOT of random knowledge tidbits floating around in his brain that are useless to the plot. but the one that comes to mind the most is geology/gemology. turns out that living in a cave housing a wholeass minor god means that you start to learn how to identify different Cool Rocks that pop up. plus it helps him value the jewelry he steals from rich ppl.

cenryx: cenryx is very Autistic about locks. like yeah he knows about lockpicking bc he's has some rogue levels but he's not just like. knows about lockpicking and that's it. he's just very knowledgeable about different types of locks in general and is INCREDIBLY picky about where he purchases the MANY locks he uses to secure all his belongings in his house. like in a modern setting he'd be the kind of person who watches every single video by the lockpicking lawyer and heckles the creators of whatever lock the guy opens like he's watching people play sports or smth.

27. What’s the worst gift they ever received? How did they respond?

sylvus: when he was like a preteen saleth got him the most garbage ass shit tier baby's first sketchbook-ass sketchbook ever for sylvus's birthday. like the paper was garbage. sylvus could immediately tell that saleth was forced by inaldin to spend some amount of their allowance on getting sylvus a birthday gift and that saleth had then subsequently gone for the cheapest and shittiest possible option. he burned it a few nights after his birthday after writing a bunch of Curses at saleth in it.

cenryx: probably when cenryx was a kid and his dad got him a cookbook. at that point cenryx had already basically become parentified despite being an only child (tfw you have to raise yourself) and cenryx took the gift as "you're gonna have to keep cooking for both of us whether you want to or not <3 enjoy having to fend for yourself AND take care of your parental figure!!!"

1, 8, 13, 22, 37 for Cenryx and Sylvus?

1. What's the maximum amount of time your character can sit still with nothing to do?

Sylvus: for sylvus it heavily depends on what KIND of sitting still with nothing to do that we're talking about here. he's trained himself to stay alert and focused in matters of like, casing a joint, observing guard patrols, waiting and watching for someone to enter or leave when staying hidden. if he's sitting and doing nothing while watching someone for thieving reasons, he can stay focused and sharp for hours on end. if it's actually just sitting and doing absolutely fuck-nothing with no goal to focus on, he will become agitated and antsy within five minutes.

Cenryx: surprisingly able to handle just sitting and waiting with nothing to focus on for long, long periods of time and still remain sharp. he's very good at both staying focused and keeping himself entertained even with absolutely nothing to focus on.

8. What were they told to stop/start doing the most as a child?

Sylvus: sylvus was generally told by inaldin the most to try and keep his living space clean. which. didn't work super-well. sylvus as a child didn't really cotton to being ordered around even by inaldin so he'd usually let his room get so messy that he couldn't do anything in it anymore, and THEN he'd clean it.

Cenryx: he was generally told by others to be more social, which pissed him off immensely because he didn't like other kids and they didn't like him.

13. What color do they think they look best in? Do they actually look best in that color?

Sylvus: he definitely thinks dark colors like dark blues and purples look best on him and IMO he's pretty correct.

Cenryx: cenryx thinks that the best colors that look best on him are pastel colors, particularly blue and yellow, with certain shades of brown coming in second place. and yeah i'd say he's pretty accurate in that assessment.

22. How does jealousy express in them (they become possessive, they become aloof, etc)?

Sylvus: in terms of jealousy like jealousy over things, sylvus definitely becomes pushy and possessive of his stuff. he's not really the romantically jealous type, but if he was, he'd be more likely to be nasty to the person he perceives as edging in on the relationship than he would at the person he's with.

Cenryx: he will just silently complain to no one about his jealousy without acting on it at all. he used to be more prone to expressing jealousy as a child, but he kinda forced that tendency out of himself and now just kinda sucks it in and internalizes it rather than expressing it outwardly.

37. Do they have a system for remembering names, long lists of numbers, things that need to go in a certain order (like anagrams, putting things to melodies, etc)?

Sylvus: sylvus will definitely use anagrams to help him remember things, because his memory can be a bit questionable at times. certain things he'll easily commit to memory instantly, other things he'll have to come up with some kind of mnemonic to remember effectively.

Cenryx: he has a system for remembering which of the keys on his key rings go to which of the locks in his house--he repeats a rhythm in his head based on the size of each key and what order it's in on the key ring. other stuff he doesn't really have a "system" for.

🪤 MOUSE TRAP - what will always lure them into certain danger? a loved one in danger? a promise of something they are always searching for?

sylvus: he is pretty easily distracted by Ooh Shiny and will often put himself in harm's way to steal a shiny thing from someone he hates, even if it's a stupid idea to steal something at that exact moment.

cenryx: tbh his sense of self-preservation is so strong that he is not really easily lured into danger. generally speaking the only thing that will pull him into danger is someone he cares about being in trouble, or someone who's going to be paying him for a job being in trouble. because he WILL save someone who's paying him. he'll just absolutely hate it the entire fucking time.

✂️ SCISSORS - what is the “last straw” for them to cut someone out of their life? how easily do they let go of people?

sylvus: tbh his number one last straw is someone taking out their incredibly black and white morality on him over stupid shit. after dealing with saleth doing that shit to him constantly over whether or not stealing is bad, he fucking gets the hell out of someone's life if they start doing it to him too.

cenryx: fastest way to get cenryx to cut you out of his life is to start asking him intrusive questions about his past and trauma, but also. cenryx will just cut people out of his life at the drop of a hat. he has absolutely no mercy when it comes to cutting contact with people who even mildly annoy him.

🎨 PALETTE - can they draw? what do they like to draw?

sylvus: he's not formally trained at all but he does like to draw. he has a very rough, scribbly art style that's less about perfect realism and more about expressing his emotions physically on paper. he'll draw a lot of different stuff depending on his mood. often times he'll draw something that left a strong impact on him that he wants to preserve in an almost journal-like fashion--anything from a landscape view that was impressive, to a particularly interesting-looking person, to a building with cool architecture, to random objects that caught his attention.

cenryx: he does draw occasionally, but for the most part what he draws tends to be clothing designs and embroidery patterns he's planning on putting on a piece of clothing. he has a fairly decent grasp of anatomy, but generally uses his drawing ability to come up with outfits or outline how he wants to alter a given piece of clothing he recently obtained.

🎀 RIBBON - how would they fit into other worlds / aus? what aus would you like to try out? what fictional world would they fit / not fit into?

sylvus: honestly i feel like sylvus is fairly flexible as a character in terms of being able to fit in lots of alternate situations. i feel like he'd especially fit well into like, cyberpunk-type worlds as some kind of badass anti-government hacker.

cenryx: he's kind of Interesting because i have put him into several AUs by now, but he's uh. kind of a difficult character to AU. a lot of the traits that define him as a character are conformed around his native setting in calaletzi that can sometimes be difficult to translate into other universes. sometimes, altering the setup he's in is enough to make him into a completely different person (i.e. sorin, serkhan). i can't entirely say what fictional world he'd fit into best but i can say that he doesn't really fit well into settings that don't feature some kind of fucked up evil cult or otherwise corrupt religious institution, because his religious trauma is kind of a foundational element of his character.

❇️ SPARKLE - what is their most prized possession? what do they value?

sylvus: honestly i think his childhood rock collection is his prized possession. his sketchbook is a close second though. he tends to value things that have sentimental value to him, stuff that's associated with specific memories. he also really likes shiny/sparkly jewelry.

cenryx: i don't think there's one single thing that cenryx has that he values more than anything else. i think if there's one thing that he values as a prized possession, it's his house. and the fact that he doesn't have to share it with roommates.

💧 DROPLET - random angst headcanon

sylvus: he got bullied a lot as a kid wandering around torlin because he was mouthy and didn't take kindly to other kids treating him badly so it was a fairly frequent occurrence for him to get attacked by other city kids and get his ass beat. and if he tried to tell the parents of the kids who attacked him, the parents always tried to twist it around to accuse sylvus of something instead (bc he's a tiefling in an area where tieflings are not treated well). this definitely contributed a lot to sylvus's fundamental distrust of authority.

cenryx: his first experiences with learning sleight of hand and how to lie effectively as a teenager was stealing extra food from the seers' food stores and lying about it if caught, because they didn't feed him nearly as often as they should have during his teen years and he was basically constantly hungry--both because he was a teenager and because he was going through testosterone puberty at the time. this is part of why he is not at all a picky eater as an adult despite definitely being autistic; he literally could not afford to be a picky eater because his options were either eat the unpleasant food or go hungry.

🌪️ TORNADO - what is the biggest change you’ve ever made to them? how have they changed from their original version?

sylvus: honestly, sylvus hasn't really changed all THAT much from how i originally created him. he's kind of developed into a full character in the sense that i have a better idea of his personality and motivations, but he hasn't really significantly changed from how i originally imagined him. he DOES have bigger tits thanks to the wellspring now, though. which HE thinks is important.

cenryx: when i first created cenryx, i imagined him as not really having much interest in sex, due to having troubles with allowing people access to that kind of intimacy. in fact, i made jokes about how people should NOT attempt to fuck him, because it would be an incredibly bad idea to involve yourself with him that much. and. well. now he has an INCREDIBLY active sex life 😂

☁️ CLOUD - a soft headcanon

sylvus: this man is the kind of guy who has an absolute soft spot for any and all animals that are treated as bad luck omens or otherwise disliked or misunderstood because they're dangerous. he relates to the plight of these animals because he also feels like he's disliked and misunderstood for stupid reasons. he's planning on getting tattoos eventually,. and he wants most, if not all, of his tattoos to be of Commonly Maligned Creatures.

cenryx: he has a great fondness for singing, actually, as surprising as that may be. part of the reason why he enjoys living by himself is because being alone in his house means that he can sing to himself while he's doing housework, which makes the tasks--that he already very much enjoys--even more fun for him. he doesn't sing around anyone because of dysphoria around his voice, but he genuinely has a lovely singing voice and can do some amazing things with his voice when he's singing.

💓 BEATING HEART - what gets their heart racing?

sylvus: sneaking and stealing definitely gets his heart going quite intensely, and he is a bit of a thrillseeker for that feeling.

cenryx: combat and sparring. he feels very alive in a fight, either a playful one or an actually dangerous one. his anxiety also gets his heart racing but that's a much less fun heart racing.

🙊 SPEAK-NO-EVIL - what is something your oc will refuse to stay quiet about?

sylvus: he will never not express his complete and utter disdain for rich people any time he gets the opportunity to voice it.

cenryx: honestly cenryx is the kind of person to stay quiet about too many things. even if they upset him. i cannot actually imagine there being something he refuses to stay quiet about in all situations.

💥 COLLISON - what emotions do they have trouble dealing with?

sylvus: definitely grief and sadness. he turns into an absolute wreck that locks himself in a room for days on end just being miserable and refusing to do anything except MAYBE eat occasionally.

cenryx: anxiety. definitely. i mean he's better at handling it now than he used to be when he was younger, by a significant amount, but that doesn't mean he finds it easy or comfortable to deal with. his anxiety will drive him fucking insane at times.

sylvus: i feel like. it wouldn't be an individual but rather a group he'd be doing this for, but yeah he'd fuck up the world for someone he cared about. i don't think it would necessarily be an easy decision for him, but he'd ultimately want his loved ones to be okay more than he'd care about anyone else.

cenryx: oh yeah. he absolutely would. and it wouldn't even be a difficult decision for him, either. like. cenryx is not a person who easily gives his trust and affection to others. if someone has gotten through his endless self-defensive barriers enough to earn not just his trust, but his actual love, he would go to some absolutely insane lengths for that person with an unflinching determination that is truly terrifying in its intensity. i cannot emphasize this enough. he would do some absolutely batshit things to save someone he loved.

🌠 SHOOTING STAR

sylvus: dgjdfggf honestly sylvus would probably wish for a global-scale re-distribution of wealth. No More Rich People Ever Please.

cenryx: his wish would 100% be to erase any memory of himself from the minds of the cult he partially grew up in. he wouldn't want to erase the memories of his time with them from his own mind, because he'd be afraid of not having the experience necessary to avoid getting dragged into a similar situation a second time, but he would feel an immense amount of relief if none of the seers remembered who he was or what he did when he was with them.

🌈 RAINBOW

sylvus: "kid. listen. i know people act like your existence is inherently suspicious. i know people give you those pitying looks you hate so damn much like you're not a person but a walking sob story. but you don't need to take those perceptions into yourself and let them turn into bitterness. you can just be yourself without having to prove them wrong or right. you don't need to prove anything to anyone. just live your damn life and enjoy being a kid."

🍃 FALLING LEAF - do they enjoy being in nature? what is their favorite outdoor activity?

cenryx enjoys being in and out of nature fairly frequently--his main job in calaletzi is being a monster hunter, so he frequently will travel out into the desert outside the city to hunt and kill monsters. he doesn't strictly speaking have a favorite outdoor activity except maybe sitting on the back porch of his house that sticks out from the barrier around calaletzi to just sort of chill in the morning and start his brain up.

🚆 TRAIN - what is their answer to the trolley problem?

this is a fun one for him because, due to trauma, cenryx is VERY averse to taking the life of a sentient being, but if he was put in a situation where the ONLY two options were either killing a number of random strangers or killing one person he genuinely cares about, he will choose to kill the random strangers without hesitation. he wouldn't even put more than like 10 seconds of thought into it. it would shred his mental health to be put into a position like that, and he'd definitely feel HORRIFICALLY guilty about it for years afterward, but that's 100% the choice he'd make.

👻 GHOST - do they believe in ghosts? what are their “ghostly experiences”, if any?

tbh i don't really imagine sylvus or cenryx having much direct experience with Spooky Shit. i feel like cenryx at least has had a lot of dreams that one might interpret as ghostly experiences (i.e. dreaming about his dad after his passing) but he is too skeptical to accept the idea that they could be spiritual experiences and just dismisses them as his brain tossing together shit from his various traumas.

💐 BOUQUET - create a bouquet for them! what do those flowers mean? are any of the flowers their particular favorite?

cenryx: i envision a bouquet for cenryx being a mix of lavender and morning glories with maybe some white foxgloves mixed in. the lavender and morning glories are a reference to a significant relationship he's in, while the foxglove for me represents that he still has some Problems that he needs to address for the relationship in question to fully work out (bc foxgloves are beautiful but poisonous as hell).

sylvus: honestly for sylvus i just envision a bouquet of flowers that all originally used to be white but were placed in water with blue color that have caused all the flowers to dye dark blue.

✏️ PENCIL - is there a particular quote / lyric that you associate with them?

not necessarily lyrics but i do have lots of quotes i associate with both sylvus and cenryx. i collect quotes and things like that in their pinterest boards, so the two of them have a lot of quotes associated with them. i will provide a small sampler for both of them.

this gets no background because it feels like it took a thousand fuckign years so just take it. wanted to draw this outfit because it was the first thing i got the urge to draw after the hormonal crash from the surgeon ordering me to stop my HRT before surgery. wanted to get it done before surgery so i didn't have it hanging over my head while i was recovering. cenryx is Nasty and this is the outfit he likes to be nasty in. no surprise there.

sylvus and cenryx still continue to have a lot of really funny parallelisms between them but a really funny one i realized recently is that sylvus would feel absolutely terrible killing insects/spiders and will usually just move them if they're in his space, but has absolutely no compunctions killing people who have pissed him off or hurt him; meanwhile cenryx feels absolutely zero hesitation crushing and killing any bug/spider that invades his space, but would only kill a person if he absolutely had to save his own life (or the life of someone he cared about).

very fun that i get to answer these questions for all THREE of them. love 2 compare and contrast ocs ESPECIALLY when they're all different versions of the same person

2. Do they wear perfume/cologne? If so what scents do they prefer?

cenryx: he might use some kind of cologne occasionally for formal events. generally prefers something that's a little bit floral but has some undertones of a more sharp and masculine scent.

serkhan: firmly believes that the only perfume/cologne that suits him is the smell of fresh blood.

sorin: also wears scents occasionally, generally more often than cenryx but not always. generally prefers scents that are kind of herbacious.

3. Do they enjoy cooking?

cenryx: does not necessarily enjoy cooking but has a fairly decent enough grasp of it that he at least doesn't hate it. sees it as a rather mundane necessity

serkhan: about the only kind of cooking he can really enjoy is like, cooking big fucking slabs of meat. generally finds the task of cooking boring.

sorin: absolutely loves cooking and enjoys trying out all sorts of new fun recipes when he gets the chance.

4. Do they enjoy baking?

cenryx: like cooking, he doesn't find it super thrilling. he likes it a bit more than cooking and is slightly better at it, but, again, generally finds making food to be a boring necessity.

serkhan: really bad at baking. tends to ignore important parts of a recipe then wonder why the hell the food came out bad. burns shit horribly and throws a tantrum when he doesn't have Delicious Fresh-Baked Goods to eat as a result. storms off and leaves a mess in the kitchen.

sorin: absolute baking champ. could probably make it pretty damn far in a baking competition. one of his major love languages is baking stuff for people. probably knows enough about how baking works to actually successfully create his own recipes and not get discouraged if he fucks up a few times before stumbling on the right combo of ingredients and prep. you are truly blessed if he bakes you a cake.

8. Do they collect anything? If so what and why?

cenryx: to a lesser extent he collects nice outfits and makeup that he likes. not to like a hoarding extent though. definitely also has a nice sex toy collection

serkhan: has a fairly large collection of weapons that match his aesthetic. doesn't know how to use most of them in a fight but displays them as decoration in his living space

sorin: probably collects houseplants tbh

18. How easy is it to become their enemy?

cenryx: pretty damn easy. he's traumatized enough that he assumes most people are going to be his enemy before he even gets to know them.

serkhan: on one level he considers anyone who goes against ichayi his "enemy", but few people end up pissing him off enough to actually get him to think about them like an enemy who's on equal footing with him.

sorin: fastest way to become his enemy is to hurt someone he cares about. he will give you the benefit of the doubt right up to that point, but once you cross that line... you're not gonna get mr. nice guy anymore.

19. How easy is it to become their friend?

cenryx: lemme tell you if you wanna be his friend you're gonna have to be patient enough to get through 20000 layers of trauma, lying, deflection, and avoidance before you could get even REMOTELY close enough to call yourself his friend

serkhan: doesn't really think he needs friends. is too much of an absolute asshole who enjoys making people uncomfortable to even really try to make friends.

sorin: if you so much as make eye contact with him in a public place he will try to befriend you probably. absolute golden retriever type of person.

28. Are they a #gamer?

cenryx: would play some video games but probably doesn't call himself a gamer. prefers story-heavy single player games. probably a big LOZ fan. has a tendency to avoid games he perceives as "childish"

serkhan: would get so much enjoyment out of griefing people in pvp games. lives to make people tilted. teabags you after killing you. absolutely a twitch streamer but half of his viewer base seems to hate him. they still watch his streams regularly for some inexplicable reason though.

sorin: only plays relaxing life sim type games like animal crossing and stardew valley. definitely also enjoys minecraft but plays only in creative mode and spends an inordinate amount of time building huge structures. also doesn't really consider himself a gamer because he finds too much combat boring and repetitive so heavily favors games that allow for creativity and building and crafting stuff

i've answered this one for sylvus and cenryx before last time i reblogged this ask meme but i'll summarize again: basically i always imagine fire powers/pyromancy/pyrokinesis for sylvus because it's kinda what he already has already, whereas for sylvus himself he always picks invisibility. as for cenryx, i'm not 100% sure what i'd pick for him but he'd personally go for mind-reading. easier to figure out how tf to socialize when you can read what the other person is thinking.

34. How well do they deal with grief?

neither of them deal with grief well at all. sylvus is at least less traumatized so thus has to deal with grief less often, but if he had to deal with comparable levels of shit that cenryx has gone through, he'd probably handle it just as badly.

40. If they found a sword in a stone would they try to pull it out? How would they react to being able to pull it out or not?

i think they'd probably both try to pull a sword in a stone out. if they couldn't get it out, cenryx would probably give up after a few good pulls, while sylvus would become increasingly frustrated that the sword wasn't coming out and then accidentally break it in his attempts to get it out of there.

44. Who, if anyone, would they trust with their deepest secrets?

in the back of my head i just heard both of them simultaneously being like "absolutely no one."
