Tournament of Souls is an wip interactive fiction. The story follows the MC as they're thrust into Tournament against their will. Being the child of the most famed winner of the Tournament, the choice to enter was never really theirs.

The Tournament sees the MC traveling to another dimension, the Solace, in order to bring back a girl who's fate has long since been decided for her. To win the Tournament, they will need to be the first competitor to bring their girl back to the Circle, a group of six past winners. Upon their return, they must undergo a series of tests to determine if they’re deserving of the win.

The Tournament of Souls is the time to make a name for yourself, to prove you're worthy of standing amongst legends. If you win, that is...

Can you brave all the challenges of the Tournament has to offer and win your freedom? Or will you buckle under pressure and lose everything you once held dear?

Play as a trans or cis male, female, or nonbinary character (and customise your appearance and personality)

Tabitha Conley: she is your target in the Tournament. Your love is forbidden, discovery of its existence would be fatal to both you and her. And yet you can't help feeling drawn to her.

Euric Trask: he is your biggest competitor. He's strong, short-tempered, fearless and fear inspiring. You find yourself both intimidated by and attracted to him, and yet despite being pitted against each other, you can't bring yourself to hate him.

Destery/Dimitri Sadler (F/M): D is the healer of your sector. They've seen you at your best, dealt with you at worst and they know all your dark secrets. You never thought your relationship could be more than what it is but being around D for so long has proven that stranger things have happened.

Lenora/Leon Clarke (F/M): L is your best friend. They are your life line; you never would've made it this far without them by your side. Though your feelings towards them may be complicated, you know one thing is certain: neither of you can live without the other.

Alani/Alfie Vos (F/M): A is a soldier working for the Circle. They are a mystery, an ever present shadow that you know nothing about. But there’s a spark between you and that’s what keeps you around, wanting and needing more.

You throw open the door of the shop before it even has a chance to do so for you. D lazy looks up at you from their place behind the counter, a variety of glass vials and elixirs in front of them. You beam at them as you make your way toward them, appearing before them in a blink of an eye. They raise an eyebrow at you and you take the opportunity to pull them into a hug. 

They stand there stiffly for a moment before slowly raising their arms to pat your back. “You’re hugging me too tight.”

“I’m just hugging you normally."

“Exactly.”

You pull away slightly, your arms still draped around their waist. “Admit it; you missed me.”

They tilt their head to the side, a playful smile on their face. They pull their bottom lip between their teeth, putting on the facade of thinking hard. “You know I’d never lie to you, MC.”

You grin at them, pulling them into a tight hug once more. “I missed you too, D.”

Tabitha: N from @evertidings. She's very drawn to people who are just as kind and caring as she is and they'd get along extremely well. Prepare from tooth rotting fluff when around them.

Euric: Syfyn from @exilethegame. Game recognises game. He respects how serious she takes her role as Commander, and overall they have similar personalities.

Destery/Dimitri: Roach from @the-passenger-if. Both of them are chaotic neutral and shameless flirts. They'd have a lot of fun together - some might even say too much fun.

Lenora/Leon: Shawnie from @barbwritesstuff. They love being around out going people and going on new adventures, so Shawnie is honestly their dream date. The party wouldn't end with these two together.

Alani/Alfie: Ciaran from @innerdemons-if. Being quite reserved and secretive, they're drawn to people with similar personalities. I doubt they'd hit it off from the get go, but once they get to know each other, it's smooth sailing.

I just wanna say that Alfie is just as ripped as Euric... if not more. Plenty of titties to go around. I can't say the same for D though...

Euric: he puts on a front of tolerating them for your sake but he secretly loves them.

Destery/Dimitri: D loves any kind of physical touch, especially ones that gives them the perfect opportunity to bite and kiss your neck.

Lenora/Leon: it makes them feel all giddy inside and they can't stop smiling afterwards. Luckily they're short, so they're always ready to receive a forehead kiss from you.

Alani/Alfie: they like to reciprocate the gesture each time and it often turns into a war between the two of you to see who can give the more forehead kisses in one sitting than the other. They usually tap out first though to make you happy.

Hand reveal

Can't say I ever expect to do a hand reveal but @thrill-seeker-if is very persuasive.

Tabitha: she has soft, warm hands that are kinda pudgy. She doesn't wear a lot of jewellery and she doesn't paint her nails either.

Euric: he has large, strong hands that are calloused from all his training

Destery/Dimitri: they have bony, kinda skeletal hands that are always kinda cold. They typically wear a lot of rings and like to paint their nails red or black.

Lenora/Leon: they have rather small hands and they quite soft as well. They also tend to bite their nails alot.

Alani/Alfie: similar hands to Euric, though their fingers are a bit shorter. They like wearing jewellery but they don't get to very often because of their job. They also keep their nails neatly cut and unpainted.

The ROs overhear the MC taking with a friend, and the friend asks why the MC has yet to ask out the RO. And the MC answers that the RO deserves better than them and that they are probably not interested in someone like them anyways. Let's say by now the ROs have realised that they have feelings for MC. How do they react?

Tabitha: this makes her sad. Like really fucking sad. Because how could you possibly think that about yourself? Everything you've done for her has been to save her and she loves you so much for that. She thereafter does everything she can to prove to you that you do deserve her.

Euric: he's pissed off. If either of you is undeserving of the other, it's him. You're so kind and caring, everything he's not. He's lucky enough to have you by his side being as unapproachable as he is and he wants you to know that. He waits until later when you're alone before showing how much you mean to him through aggressive affection.

Destery/Dimitri: this the dumbest conversion they've ever heard. They immediately march up to you and interrupt your conversation. Before you can question what they're doing, they grab your face and kiss you. When they pull away, they look at you square in the eyes, still holding your face. "Shut up; I like you. Now ask me out."

Lenora/Leon: like D, they're not having it. However, they're not as bold and will wait until you're alone before bringing the topic up. "Deserves better than you, huh?" They're about this close to slapping you senseless. "Now why do you think that?" They don't even let you speak before listing all the reasons they do deserve you.

Alani/Alfie: now this is confusing to them because you're one of the best, if not the best person they know. And they want you to know as much. They're hesitant to bring the topic up with you and when they do, they're very gentle in their approach. They sit you down and tell you that they overheard what you said and they tell you how very wrong you are. They finish off by letting you they have feelings for you too.

Euric: "Don't worry, MC, I'll protect you!" He'll hold you close to him and put on his tough guy face and do his tough guy walk to make sure no one messes with you.

Destery/Dimitri: they do their very best to make you laugh and realise that there isn't anything to be scared of. They hold your hand the entire time and point out faults in the decor and costumes. "Did you see that guy's hatchet?? That things barely sharp enough to cut through butter, let alone human skin. I think we'll be fine."

How would the ROs who are scared react to being with an MC who isn't scared?

Tabitha: she clings to your side, grip so tight on your arm you think she might break it. She kinda uses you as a human shield whenever there's a jump scare or a monster coming towards you. I mean, you're not scared so what does it matter?

Lenora/Leon: the fact that you aren't scared is nothing new to them but they still make you promise not to leave their side. They'll divert their attention to you whenever something scary happens and just look at your face until the moment passes.

Alani/Alfie: they vaguely wonder if there's something wrong with you by the fifth time a monster has jumped out at you and you haven't even batted an eye. At that point, their concern for you kinda overrides their fear so the rest of the house is smooth sailing.

If the ROs had to live the rest of their lives in a movie, what genre would that movie be?

Tabitha: definitely a romantic comedy, she wants to be that girl that finds the love of her life and gets her happily ever after. A specific movie would Enchanted.

Euric: an action movie, the more action and life threatening danger, the better. He's a certified adrenaline junkie. He'd want to live in Edge of Tomorrow

Destery/Dimitri: probably a psychological thriller, in which they'd almost definitely want to be the villain, or at least get up to a lot of mischief. They'd enjoy being in Black Swan.

Lenora/Leon: a drama. They lowkey live for drama and gossip so to live in an environment where the only thing that happens is drama, is their dream. They'd want to live Anna Karenina.

Alani/Alfie: a comedy. They really enjoy all the chaos that ensues in comedy movies so they'd want to experience that themselves. Theyd either want to be in Meet the Parents or Austin Powers. I can't decide which so I'm not gonna.

How would they fare in a horror movie setting?

Tabitha: she'd be the first one killed, like Drew Barrymore in Scream.

Euric: he's the killer. 100%.

Destery/Dimitri: they'd die because they decided to ignore the rules of horror movies and have sex. I mean it's horror movie 101 - no fucking if you wanna survive.

Lenora/Leon: they definitely try to stay away from the action as much as possible and if they do some how get involved, they'd try to Kevin McAllister their way to survival. They have a good chance of surviving, it just depends on the movie.

Alani/Alfie: they're the most logical character and they end up not only killing the villain (rip Euric) but they're also the final girl/guy.

what would be the ROs reactions to the MC breaking up with them?

If it's an amicable break up, they'd all sorta be understanding. If the break up was sudden and bitter after being in a relationship for a long time though... that's a different story.

Tabitha: she'd be heart broken. She hadn't allowed to herself to get close to anyone before because it might've gotten in the way of her helping her family so for the first person she loves to just leave her, would be devastating for her.

Euric: he by far takes it worse. He withdraws into himself and buries his emotions down deep. He'd be a lot more angry and aggressive (like way more than he used to be) and he'd probably never date anyone else again. Because if the one person he opened up to and loved could hurt him so bad, what's stopping everyone else?

Destery/Dimitri: they'd handle it the best. They'd allow themselves to be upset for two or three days before moving on. They wouldn't enter another relationship for a long while but they will have a lot of flings.

Lenora/Leon: like Tabitha, they are heart broken. Your friendship is basically ruined after that, I mean, how can it not be? It takes them a long time to get over you and even then, it still pains them to see you around Morimét.

Alani/Alfie: they'd be upset but they wouldn't blame you. They want you to be happy even if it's not with them. They'd take a few months to work on themselves and just learn how to be a single person again before opening themselves up to the idea of love again.

Tabitha: she blushes profusely and thanks you quietly. When you walk away, she takes off the crown and admires your handiwork. After that, she wears the crown whenever she can and when the flowers just begin to wilt, she presses them in a book to preserve them.

Euric: he doesn't say anything in response, though he does frown when you simply walk away. He wonders if you're messing with him or playing with his feelings. After much consideration, he'll go out and pick you a flower or two in return. He won't say anything when he gives them to you though, he'll just thrust them in your hands and walk away just like you did.

Destery/Dimitri: this gives them the biggest ego boost. They wear the crown everywhere they go and from there on out, they introduce themselves like, "Hi, I'm D, the ruler of MC's heart. I have the crown to prove it, see?"

Lenora/Leon: they follow you immediately. What, you thought you could just pull a stunt like that and then just walk away?? Think again, MC. They all but tackle you, hugging you tight and peppering your face with kisses. They're not letting you any time soon so get comfortable.

Alani/Alfie: they watch you walk away, their face hot. They then set off on a mini adventure, collecting dozens of flowers. They practise making flowers crowns over and over until they've perfected it, all the while wearing the one you made them. They'll then take bring you the crown they made, place it gently on your head and say, very softly, "Now you we can rule together".

I can't tell if you mean the MCs last words or the last thing the MC hears from the ROs... but I think I'm gonna go with the latter because the MCs last words to each RO would be pretty much the same thing - just a lot of goodbyes and I love yous.

So, below the cut are the ROs reactions(?) to the MC dying...

Tabitha: your head is in her lap, her fingers gently carding through your hair while the other hand grips yours tightly. She does her best to keep her emotions at bay and she will try her best to reassure you; "My grandmother used to tell me stories of the grim reaper. He's kind and caring, guiding souls to the other side. He'll protect you and keep you from getting lost; you'll be safe with him. And one day, he'll reunite us; I promise."

Euric: he holds you close to his chest, his arms wrapped around you in a protective embrace. "You're not gonna die, MC. I'm here, I wouldn't let that happen to you, okay? You're not dying today." He doesn't even realise he's crying, silent tears streaking down his cheeks and when you eventually go still, he breaks down sobbing and screaming, refusing to let you go.

Destery/Dimitri: they've never been more emotional and distraught than right now. This is the first time their magic wasn't enough to save you. They grab your hand and hold it tightly in both of theirs, their grip near bone crushing. They apologise profusely, their voice panicked; "I'm sorry, MC, I'm so sorry. I tried... and I can't... stay with me, MC; please...!"

Lenora/Leon: They're a mess. They cradle you in their arms, their whole body wracked with sobs. "Please don't die, MC. I need you here with me. I don't know how to live without you. Please!" It's not long before you breathe your least breath and they'll never be okay again after that. They're broken, ruined; you've left a void in their life and their heart that can never be filled again.

Alani/Alfie: they're doing their best to keep themselves together, staying strong for your sake. They hold you close and gently caress your face. "Everything's going to be okay, you're going to be fine. I'm not gonna leave your side, I promise." They just keep repeating those words and when eventually the dreaded moment arrives, they finally allow themselves to break down, silent cries shaking their body.

You follow Destery around the shop like a lost puppy. She doesn’t pay any attention to you, focusing solely on the task of taking inventory and restocking the shelves. You pout, slinking up behind her and wrapping your arms around her waist, nuzzling your face in the back of her neck.

“Not now, MC; I’m busy,” she says with an exasperated sigh.

“But I miss you.”

“And I need to make a living. Not all of us can be funded daddy’s money.”

“That’s just hurtful, Des.”

"You and the can of whipped cream I saw in your fridge?"

You catch a flash of approval in her eyes as her lips curl upward in a slow, predatory smile. "If you promise to be good and wait for me upstairs, I'll be up in five minutes."

You grin as you step away from her and towards the staircase, raising your hand in a salute. "Yes, ma'am!"
